All About Makoto / Read this first

Makoto still gets plenty of love imo. And flight240, if you are reading this, I went on a three win streak at svgl with makoto against legit players!

ahh, yess. i was able to see a few of the vids with makoto in them. the shend had a flurry of updates recently. x]
mimora (black makoto?) is a beast. i wouldn’t put him up there with boss or momochi.

but seeing jab, jab, short, short-hayate, SAI automatically gives him beast status. 9 hits! lol.
kinda sad i didn’t favorite that vid.

jab jab shortxxsuper is the real hot shit!

kind of disappeared after sf4 but I’ve been playing alot more 3s lately.

Chun SA2 red parries: You can red parry chun’s SA2 after the flash. if this bitch ever tries to kill you cheap, know these(if she adds a fb, add one more/you’re probably dead).

low forward immediate cancel SA2: first wave 7 parries
low forward late cancel SA2: 8 parries

back fierce xx SA2(crouch block before flash): 6 parries
back fierce xx SA2(stand block before flash): 8 parries

stand rh xx SA2(crouch block before flash): 7 parries
stand rh xx SA2(stand block before flash): 8 parries

something strange about this super and makoto crouching. even if she hits back fierce xx super, if you were crouching it will uncombo sometimes(probably because it only hits 6 times at this point). These were consistent for me, lemme know if you guys find out otherwise.

for the back fierce it’s a distance thing

That video was hot!

Awesome vid.

And hey ya’ll I have some questions. Doesn’t Makoto have a bigger fanbase then Elena? Where does Elena stand in popularity amongst the entire cast? Does she get picked as much as Makoto in tournaments? I don’t know the answers because I lack that knowledge of the whole scene in general but learning more about it. In other forums I’m in, not SRK, I see this brought up sometimes on how Makoto shouldn’t be in SSFIV and in her place Elena should have gotten her spot, either reason being “because she is more popular than Makoto” or “Her style is more unique” and the rare “Makoto reminds me of another shoto”. I think the last one is said because they don’t play her so it’s assumed she is like Ryu/Ken/Akuma because of her Karate background.

It feels like Elena should have the bigger fanbase because of how much more asthetically pleasing she is, but in the end Makoto gets more play and that’s all that matters. She’s just that beastly. And whoever says Makoto seems like another shoto doesn’t know shit. She’s more karate than they’ll ever be. :V

P.S.- Sup ramza. Glad to see you back in 3rd Strike. And I still remember the time you blocked halfway through Chun’s SA2. haha

billy live it up in japan for me it’ll take me a couple decades before I can afford going there for fun=/

Hello gentlemen, my question is simple and your combined knowledge is vast, so please help me out. I’ve been playing Makoto a lot lately, but there’s a tidbit of info that I haven’t been able to find in any guides I’ve read about her. What is Makoto’s best cross-up? Is it j.forward? Or is it j.fierce? Or something else entirely?

That depends what you would consider best…

fwd is much easier to cross up with

fp hit box isn’t as wide making the spacing more strict (I pretty much only use it on fat characters)

Only thing I can add it only happens mid screen, and if chun bfpxfbxxsaII it will won’t break combo (at least that I have seen and I have seen it alot…)

This issue also effects the twins and Elena but not nearly as often.

I’m new to 3rd strike and have been having fun with Makoto  I am having a really hard time canceling the standing fierce into SA II. I understand the distance thing just fine. Am I missing something here? I can do the command grab into s.f into dash punch with no problems at all but canceling into SA just doesn’t happen consistently. Seems like I am the only one with this problem :frowning:

I recommend reading through the thread before asking. This comes up a lot and has been answered a million times.

Any rate.

  1. hold FP down. If you let go of fp when you do the qcf motion you get dash punch because the button release counts as an input too.

2)they have to be on YOUR half of the screen with YOUR back to the corner. They have to be on your side of the timer.

3)Make sure you do not try to hold down or forward before inputting the FP because you will get crouching or the command normal.

4)practice timing the FP after karakusa first, then try practicing the FP into super. Putting the karakusa first is just wasting time when you could be practicing it in “parts”

  1. an alternate method you can employ is hitting fp then spinning the stick in a 360 degree motion to ensure all the inputs then hitting kick. I can’t do this very well but some people find it easier

6)Maybe try doing just the super a couple times facing both directions. Try doing it 3 times in a row rather than just aiming for a specific number. Ensure you are consistent.

7)Pay attention to what IS happening. If you are getting dash punch like I said that is a sign that you are letting go of FP. You need to learn to diagnose the problem in order to fix it.

That’s all I can think of now.

I just read through most of the thread and couldn’t find anything that related to my problem. My problem is canceling the standing fierce into SA II even without doing the command grab. When I attempt to cancel the fierce into super I don’t get the dash punch ever unless I want it to come out so I don’t think holding the fierce will solve my problem. Ill try the 360 method some more.
I have a couple questions
How fast do you input the qcf x2 after fierce? Do you do it really fast or do you do it at a slow even pace? I’ve tried both a lot and get both to come out randomly.
Do you let the stick go back to a neutral position after fierce? Can I hold back while doing fierce then do hcf qcf kick.
Can I do fierce then down, down forward, forward, up forward, qcf, k? I got this bad habit from sf4 because it allows you to be sloppy the inputs.

Thanks for the advice

Yeah both of those will probably work.

There’s really only two possibilities here.

  1. you’re not doing it fast enough
    or
  2. you’re not hitting the right inputs/directions.

Chances are it’s the speed though, you have to do it pretty damn fast.

Just want to thank you  You wernt kidding when you have to do it really fast. I can do it every time now by doing hcf qcf k really fast hah

I have a quite specific question, which I unfortunately didn’t find an answer to in the (archived) EX-Hayate-corner-thread either:

How do you juggle Ken with a second hayate after an EX one in the corner? What kind of kara do you have to do? I didn’t find anything and all my experimenting came out empty so far…

edit: solved, it’s mk-kara. :f

I’m trying to find videos on youtube of a really good Japanese Mak player. I used to have them as favoritses, but now they’re gone. It’s not Shirotaichi, J or Boss. I think his name began with a C, but I can’t quite remember it. Anyone know, or have the videos?

don’t listen to grey fox some one put salt on his cherios

me? If not so, I’m embarrassed a little bit…
Or possibly Chemuru-san, but I think he doesn’t play any more
actually me either though
