ya I saw the 1st movie last week, a lot of things in the trailer makes it seem like a prequel
Kind of shocked you guys didnt put up this yet
Another New trailer

Never realized Idris Elba is in this until that trailer. Even more exciting!
lol for real? He’s been in all of them, but not as much as this.
… unless we get new trailers, thats the only exemption
Yeah when they did AvP 1 & 2, my biggest beef wasn’t the concept…its that Aliens has been reduced to action, and NOT “are you afraid of the dark” type movie.

so…
Spoiler
As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, the space jockey we see in Alien is actually a space jockey in a biosuit of some sort.
Also, methinx the plot device for lack of a better term will be that WE are essentially ‘cyborgs’ of ‘them’…they engineered us to be like them, and the tech we take will allow us to make our Cyborgs ‘mroe realistic’…or something like that.
I didn’t know Magneto wsa in this movie. I want a magnetic knife stab sequence again.

AvP is is kind of hard to make in a scary movie, since its mostly about them killing each other which I dont think watching them kill each other is scary. Or just the idea of them killing each other
The game was pretty scary
BWWWWWHAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM
The cinematography and special effects in this movie are absolutely amazing! They’ve managed to give the characters and 3d environment the same tones and shadow, making it look natural and vibrant.
Not to mention the story is intriguing. I’m more disappointed in the fact that I’ve seen so much footage now.
Didnt check to see if anybody saw it in the newer trailer. But if you pause it (i forgot what time) but at a very short screenshot, you can see either a statue of a alien or a a real live alien on the wall. Dont think it’s dead either.
This will be incredibly epic. Seriously, how long have I been waiting for this film? Answer; Like, all my life. Thank you Mr. Scott. Now, hurry up with Blade Runner 2.
Btw, you can spot the Space Jockey, a Xenomoprh, and various other images that help tie Alien, and this together.
things are a lot different once they become a movie. You cant have a movie in FPS, people wanted to see them fight, and Alien 2 was not even scary.
I’d like to point out there are logical reasons for the changes that were intended to serve the story (and rightfully so IMO) which makes MR that 1% of film adaptations that aren’t dumbed down to get bigger returns.
Prometheus will be such an epic event, I usually don’t give a shit about IMAX or 3D but this is one film that begs for it. How can the director of such subtle, nuanced, and complex material as we’ve seen in Blade Runner and Alien say he hasn’t done sci fi till now because he didn’t find a script he liked and then go on to make pure shit for the next 30 years? (with the exception of Matchstick Men, Thelma and Louise,)?
In my experience those who say films like Alien or The Birds aren’t scary tend to be scared by films like Hostel or Saw…take that however you want.
Wow. This reminds me why I don’t like watching trailers anymore. It would have been nice to have actually been surprised at the whole Earth thing while watching the movie.
Not really. Its because Aliens have been turned into Action movie ‘fodder’ that it appears that way, but they littered AvP2 with scenes which could have been super suspenseful and well ‘scary’…its not just the unknown that can make it scary ya know.
I stil ldon’t fuckin get it. Maybe because I watched it for the first time like 4 years ago…but why do people like bladerunner so much? The movie was hardly coherent and pretty ‘average’ IMO…and I’m not judging things like special effects…what am I missing that make people treat it like such a GOAT type movie? I’m not trying to shit on folks and callit a shitty movie (thats how it felt to me - nothing memorable) - but maybe I’m missing something and thats why it seems that way to me.

Like many high brow films (2001, Eyes Wide Shut, Vertigo, and Peeping Tom to name a few) BR was hated when it came out because everyone misunderstood it, it was ahead of it’s time, and/or it indicted audiences as complicit in the film’s plot instead of letting us watch it and say “it’s just a movie”. An unfortunate but common result of these types of high concept films is 90% of the analyses you’ll come across are by douchebag hipsters who have no idea what they’re saying and are just trying to sound smart. If you want the most detailed answer you’ll have to shell out a whopping $7 here: http://www.collativelearning.com/Products.html#ra3. Unlike most people this guy is a true movie nerd he’s not only developed a critical eye for the language of film but has also taken the time to completely deconstruct films and provide convincing evidence behind his conclusions.
Anyways to give you a more concise answer, I think people love it so much because:
-It’s an audio/visual orgasm.
-Ridley Scott masterfully handles presenting the epic scale of the world (this could have gone horribly wrong so easily).
-The synergy between noir and sci-fi is just so perfect tonally as well as thematically it’s like the first time you dipped an oreo in milk.
-Instead of being overwhelmed and alienated by such a world it’s fleshed out to audiences through an intimate portrait of one character killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
-It’s a manifestation of some of humanity’s worst fears: The apex of racism, loss of personal freedom, faithlessness in God, and corporate greed. And yet through one of the most fucked up society’s cinema has to offer we learn to stop bitching about life for just a second and realize how lucky we are just to be alive and have free will at all.
I can geek out on BR endlessly but to put it simply it represents the best of both worlds, it feeds the senses as well as the mind and does so without coming across as pretentious. Phillip K. Dick the author of the book it’s based on was a man with really ambitious ideas and posed questions that didn’t have a right/wrong answer and showed how confusing and messy life really is and BR reflected that quality well IMO.
Well if it really is a prequel I guess I should consider myself fortunate that I’ve never watched any of the alien movies so nothing is spoilt for me as prequels tend to do sometimes. Hopefully the movie delivers and doesn’t just live off the hype of ridleys name, but dudes been on point for quite a while so hopefully he doesn’t start his decline with this movie.
Alien stopped being scary since Aliens, though Aliens was a way better movie
