I Know I have a lot to improve. But Using ex flash chop feels soooo good
Made a new video focussing around Alexās set ups.
Came up with a very interesting one for after an Ex-Flash Chop that beats any wake up button attempts. At least it beats out Chun Liās cr.LP on QuickRise/BackRoll/SlowRise.
Ex-FlashChop, st.MP, LK-SlashElbow, LP-Headbutt. On QuickRise and BackRoll, the LK-SlashElbow counter hits cr.LP. If SlowRise LK-SlashElbow whiffs and LP-Headbutt will grab the wake up cr.LP.
My brain was going through all sorts of mayhem working that out.
Anyways, I hope this video is helpful.
Zachā¦very impressive
Thanks man. All started because I was getting mad salty and decided to stop playing online for the day. 2 hours later I had a page full of scribbled notes.
So the worst thing Iām finding at the moment is that, now I know for a fact that there is a way to cover all techrises (Quick/Back/Slow), I feel the urge to try and find more for other moves. Had the classic 2 am āI wonder if that would workā¦ā.
xD
Does this only cover st.mpxx exflash? Isnt working with f.hp st.lk exflash. And it only works if youāre up close to your opponent.
Is there some sort of trick to this that makes it work further out?
I think itās hitbox dependant and frame perfect. Slightly too late and it seems to whiff and too early gets you a st.LK. Also take into account that I had Chun set to wakeup cr.LP so her hurtbox was extended.
Iāll have to mess around with various set ups into it and see if I can come up with. I have a theory that I could replace the st.MP for st.LP and replace LK-Slash with MK-Slash. It should also allow for the LP-Headbutt ender in case of no techrise but I canāt test at the moment. Only problem Iām seeing right now is that it might not work against quickrise.
This forum has been very helpful.
I think I found a way to to relieve pressure for Alex, which also helps lead to better set ups for his other charge moves.
cr.LP xx LK SLASH (st.LP xx LK SLASH, works as well but the range is not great and the set up for other charge moves is harder)
To get this down I went to training mode and fought against CPU LEVEL 8 (I usually go against Ken, but I would also recommend Necalli, Bison, or R. Mika as well).
First thing is you want to practice blocking. Because pressure is typically your weakness as an Alex player, you definitely want to make sure you have this down and learn the frame setup to counter grabs when opp. gets to close. I like to throw out cr.LK as it has good range when opp is walking close without attack. Which can lead to cr.LK, st. LP xx LP Slash (I am still practicing this as I am not good at this combo from both sides)
Anyway, back to cr.LP xx LK SLASH. After you learn to block well enough, if you canāt already. You want to get the timing down for when to throw the cr.LP. Keep in mind it is 4 frames, so your windows are limited, but itās not as hard as it sounds once you get the timing down.
The cool thing about this quick combo is that once you do cr. LP the LK Slash is 2 frames if block and I believe it is 3 frames on a whiff (not sure on this, but I havenāt been counter hit or traded blows when I missed the cr. LP yet), so you donāt have to hit confirm to follow up with slash. Which means that if you whiff on the cr. LP they LK SLASH will counter hit any move they try to follow up with. So basically, once timing is down only 3 things will happen.
-
cr. LP will hit as a counter after the opp. pressure and then LK SLASH will hit as well for a 2 hit combo (I havenāt tested follow-ups for this so I welcome suggestions)
-
cr. LP will get blocked or whiff and then LK SLASH will counter hit anything they throw out including Jumps
-
opp. will block, but you will also be safe on block because of push back from LK SLASH
Now after hitting this 2-3 times, you opp. will change up pressure. especially if you are also catching them with a few light kicks hitting them low before they are able to approach. So now you can mix up your game with other charge moves. For example, they will try to stay low for better blocks to set up cross up. This allows you to set up STOMP. Or if they have been blocking then do cr. LP XX HEADBUTT to mess up timing as they will be use to blocking LK SLASH. Then if they are close and trying to block you can do cr. LP xx THROW (cr.LP needs to be blocked to make your throw 3 frames)
Hope I have added to the discussion, and look for ideas for follow-up attacks as I am better at defense instead of applying pressure.
setups so good youāll never use them. I just like dicking around in training mode.
I might try to incorporate that st.HK, VT xx LP HEADBUTT. I usually use HK follow by a powerbomb to start punishes for Shoryuken whiffs. But this is nice for stun
That not a good setup
If you hit st.hk VT st hp clothsline m.qcfp into +3 50/50 mixup its much better let offense going
Itās unconventional but I wouldnāt say itās not good.
I could see myself using that to close out a round due to itās surprise factor.
Also the MP-Flash Chop 50/50 is good but everyone who has played more than a few matches against Alex knows about it. Itās still a 50/50 so youāve got that 1 in 2 chance of it working but throwing something in that your opponent hasnāt seen can do a lot of āmental damageā.
Personally if I get hit with a 50/50 I know and I simply guess wrong, I donāt care. I made the wrong guess between ā1ā and ā2ā so whatever. If Iām expecting the usual coin flip and it gets replaced by something I havenāt seen before Iām much more likely to āTiltā and at that point, Iām done.
TL:DR - Different isnāt always bad.
For sure
But itās for trading big damage and a 50/50 at ending for less damage and got back on neutral, I prefer being obvious
You wanna keep those options in mind if want do something different to end the match doing mental damage like zachara said
About not being obvius
How you guys hide your charge
I usually hide jump neutral or with v skill
Does it have any frame trap for st.HP?
Edit: I missread stuff, ignore me.
There is this setup I am testing
But seems really hard to get
Put necalli ( good 3 frame jab, ryu jab whiff a lot)to recover with back roll and wake up if 3 frame jab, defend after first hit and do :
Close cr.hp xx lp flash chop xx dash xx walk foward a little xx lp or ex command grab
I need to get this down to mix with f.hp
Iām doing it 2 of 10
Can someone test it out and give me some tips
Any tips on how to consistently pull off f+hp, s.mp to stomp/SGH? At what point do you start your charge? I canāt seem to get it to work even once.
Be more specific
You want do stomp after f.hp xx s.mp blockstring?
If so I dont even knew it was possible
Edit. ā¦if possible might be a good setup cause everyone expect st.mp intom flash chop
I dint test yet but, after f.hp you should start charging asap and time for st.mp into stungun should be the same with cr.lk cr.lp st.mp xx stun gun
Immediately after you start f.HP you want to go into the down charge. St.MP and releasing up for stomp/head butt have to be pretty fluid.
I was able to pull it off online a few times, but iām gonna practice it in training mode more
Iād imagine Guileās BNBs are the same thing.
Trying it out now. Reallyā¦this has to be the hardest thing to execute in the game.
Practice canceling st.HP into stomp/sgh first to get the feel of the motion. HP is active for much longer and gives you an idea of how to execute the mix up. Once you think you got the idea, change it up to st.mp instead. Then incorporate the f.HP once you get the hang of it.
