Does Alex have an reliable anti-air? His Knee Smash doesn’t seem good enough.
Get used to st.LP. cr.HP is not always with it.
f.HP is nice and crush counter puts them in a juggle state so you can follow up with ALMOST any special move or f.FK
Standing jab is what I have the best luck with.

Why do you think his EX down charge moves don’t auto track? It seems weird to me that we have to spend a bar AND guide them when they have no hit invincibility on the way up.
Would they really be too strong if they always went where the opponent was when the move was activated like Bison?
In terms or threads and being more organized, I started out on the Mika boards and loved how that place had

There’s not much videos on Alex matches on the interweb so I can understand not having a video thread up yet, but I think having a beginner thread would unclutter alot of the Alex GD talk and be really helpful to other Alex hopefuls.
You’re not to, Alex post throw setups are whack. I’ve known about this since the first days and after a couple of matches, it was obvious.
The strange thing to me is that they track within a smaller area, so you guide them either close, mid, or far, and within that area they track. It’s very odd. The only thing I could think is that they did it so you could anticipate your opponents movements and send the ex where they WILL be rather than where they are (maybe the moves were whiffing a lot in testing because of dashes etc.?) or they did it so you could use them as corner escapes and just jump to the other side of the screen.
definitely would prefer it if they were homing.
Edit: Also that dash up throw in the “option select” isn’t real, are people doing that? You can just jab it.

I don’t think having it track would be too much to ask too, next year I hope it’s one of the small buffs that he gets. At the moment it’s really annoying to spend the bar and then have it miss entirely. Sometimes I feel I’ve pressed the perfect area and then I just and in front or behind them, it feels like the hitbox is quite small.
Alex cannot be weak!? Alex is the guy who tells other losers they are weak… …when he kicks their asses!
I’m glad ex stomp doesn’t track. It’s a decent move to use to get out of the corner.
I tried implementing the tips from the new shadoloo tutorials and I have gotten ALOT better at anti airing. But now that I try to play an honest game and doing the whats recomended I constantly lose haha. went from 2k -> 1200 in just an hour feels bad man. Guess I cant play street fighter at all better stick with mika :’(
Ok, your issue is one that I was having with Alex - Trying to play an honest game against people who don’t understand an honest game.
This isn’t like SF4 where the game’s been out for long enough that even those at the lower levels understand the rules.
So judging by your post and the video I’d say you’re trying to approach on the ground, using your good buttons to play footsies and then bully your way in and get the mix up train running.
And that all goes out of the window when the person you’re playing against has their stick stuck in the Up+Forward position or someone who will just do random Spiral Arrow/Shoryuken/Super. Hell, I played against an R.Mika who ran away the entire match and only got damage through V-Trigger and her Ex-Peach and then went afk half way through the last round. I assume it’s because playing like a complete idiot didn’t work out for them and they said something like “This game’s shit, Alex is so bullshit. Chasing me down and blocking my moves. I’m going back to CoD.”
Against those people you have to forget everything that should work.
I often start just jumping at them until they do something about it. If they don’t have an invincible move available and you knock them down, hit them with a meaty f.HP over and over. They won’t stop pressing buttons no matter how many times you do and even if they do by some miracle block it - Do a st.MP after it for a 3 frame trap that will hit them if they’re holding up.
Obviously don’t do this every time but if you realise that person you’re against is acting like an idiot (I’m at 2200 so I know what kind of people you play against) then do it back to them.
To paraphrase Mike Ross (again) - "You wanna go dumb? Fine, I’ll go dumb. You having fun now? No, you’re not, because I’m being just as dumb as you are."
You can’t condition these people and that means you can’t play honest because all that’s going to happen is that you’re going to get hit by something stupid and then more than likely be “Tilted” and then that’s it, you’re done.

Basically what I’ve been saying since day -60. Alex will be fun but his toolset will always be “Meh” unless Capcom take his numbers and really go out their way to make them stupid good.
I think he’s better than Gief, not as random as Mika and doesn’t have the zoning/neutral tools that Birdie does. Also he doesn’t have quite the same “Appeal” that Laura has, despite his story mode midriff.
As much as I enjoy playing Alex, I can’t ever say to someone “Hey, you should play Alex because “X””. His V-Trigger allows him to do a fair amount of damage/stun, but Mika’s is better (Despite the Parry). His f.HP is very good, but Mika’s is better.
I never expected Alex to be good, the fact that (To my mind) he’s better than Gief, Fang and Rashid is much more than anyone should’ve expected. (Only thing that keeps Rashid as a “Maybe” is that he has an invul reversal)
I expected Alex to be fun and satisfying to win with and to me, he is.
Something I’ve always wanted to do was record my matches. Thanks to playing on PC, I gave it a try. Gonna be uploading replays every now and then just to go back and watch. See what I do wrong. Started with 2 games with a gold Mika I ran into back to back. Felt they were some of my best of what replays I have available. Do not all matches get uploaded?
I’ve been seriously considering opening a “Critique” thread where people can post up their videos but I wanted to post at least one of my own to get the ball rolling.
Only problem I’ve been having is not having a single bo3 set or even a full match with someone without some connection wonkiness.
I will give them a watch later and let you know what I think but I can tell you one thing right now…
