As far as Alex dash grab wakeup. It’s not even a real option vs anyone who knows it’s not safe thats not coming out of knee press…Always go meaty HK or Slash. will it hit? probably not…but it’s a ground check to keep opponents grounded with extra grey damage. And you may hit a panicky player, who knows?
I dont think Alex needs big changes to be amazing but not broken.
Just fix the reliability of his damn crouch hp. Always Juggle anti air if clean. ALWAYS please! This is the biggest to me…it doesnt have to beat every jump in, but always juggle please if i get a damn clean hit…because it’s the best way to start his oki.
Also standing jab anti air doesnt auto correct like necalli’s it seems… why does necalli get a 3 frame auto correct aa jab AND a shoryuken and a decent crush counter anti air at range? But Alex’s is 4 frame and doesnt auto correct, and is limited in range imo?
Change overhead to down forward.
And either make his ex-slash armor on frame 1 or not so damn punishable… you always go deep, and it can be punished by lots of medium - heavy optimal combos…while Birdies armor start at frame 1 and although more minus on block adds pushback enough to not be punished as hard.
the -6 grab i can live with… it may be meticulous reasoning for that… f.hp tic grabs? Whatever.
On a different note, i never knew Alex c.hp had 3 different ranges… Which is nice for punishing certain whiff moves. The aa version for df.hp doesnt cause juggle on those pesky neutral jumpers most of the time…which is why i’m so adamant they fix those clean hits.
Would like them to change kkk to ppp just to not get accidental ex slash out…but whatever, not a game changer but i’ll be more careful then.
I still don’t get the mentality of it’s been 2 weeks! garbage, if you played the game enough from the beta, you know a characters weaknesses, or know the character will fall off because fundamentally strong characters dont have crazy setups like Birdie. While someone like Mika you know has potential with her v-trigger and irish whish resets from day 1… you just got to find it and work it all in.
Alex imo is more like Birdie, fundamentally strong but fundamentally flawed as well. But a bit weaker imo. There will be no crazy shenanigans to explore like Mika, Laura, or Ken, Ryu, Charlie etc all with much more things to figure out. The best anyone could hope for is get so good at matchup knowledge they parry punish everything and footsie and anti air much better, but that inherently doesn’t make a character stronger, it just make the player godlike with godlike reads and reactions and could probably do the same with any character. The best knowledge so far came from the Danke video of actually being positive from the HK knee. Everything else is just hard reads, honest footsies and on point anti airs, while trying not to get cornered.
