Except i ALSO SAID it doesn’t lead to nearly as much as anything so it makes no sense. So Laura is the exception to the rule and Laura has much more options from and to her grab, has a really fast dash and ex command dash. Has mid screen 50/50 mixups and a projectile a 3 frame jab. So yeah, it makes sense that she has a 6 frame grab. I thought that much was obvious but you wanted your chance to be a smart ass right?
i already address some of that. No amount of lack of knowledge will address the c.hp juggling (nontrade) being unreliable on some characters? So we should not fix unreliable moves because there’s something in the future that may not even come that makes Alex S tier…apparently.
Does changing input for OH mean new tech will no longer require it? Or the triple KKK v-reversal? Or how badly punishable his ex slash elbow is and how it loses to meatys, 3 frame jabs and grabs? And can be punished by medium and heavy attacks?
Its too early to ask for buffs, but if his vskill animation was a little faster that would be nice.
I think capcom was playing it safe with Alex (first dlc character) so they prolly dialed him back a bit.
I more of a minimalist on the things that I want, all the buffs you guys are suggesting are great but I think the main thing I would like is to have c.hp be considered airborne really early so that it beats lows and throws, the best example would probably be like Rose’ st.mk in SFIV.
I really like him as a character but like a lot of you have pointed out i feel like the other grapplers have better options/stronger oki. You are scared of them all the time and with Alex, you’re only scared of him in specific situations.
Maybe it’s just me, but unless I can get offline experience I am free to Necalli. I can’t recall one Necalli match where I haven’t had noticeable lag. Dude just runs a train on me
If Laura dashes after a command grab she is minus frames just like Alex, she also does not have an “ex command dash”, frankly I stopped reading there since it’s obvious you’re talking out of your ass.
Bison runs an absolute train on me. I’ve managed to come to terms with Alex’s normals not being great but jesus. Outside of V-Reversal Bison can just spend all day on top of me, pressing any button he likes.
I’ve noticed that his cross-up looks a bit deceptive on Alex. But thats probably just me having bad reactions…
You can deal with Bison by not relying overly much on your pokes. His dash has certain frames of invinc, and if he gets inside you, you have to spend v meter to escape, no butts about it.
st.mp is a great counter poke in this matchup, it can hit him out of scissors/sweep. buffering a lp chop behind most st.mp’s is also a great idea, it has longish animation that almost always hits Bison when he’s trying to get in on you on the ground. Your pokes come into play when he gets frustrated and tries to st.hk you or whatever BS to death. st.hp is also good because it has a hitbox that sometimes hits sweeps and the like. F+HP is a good when you’re sure he’s gonna take to the air after getting pissy/you stuff his sweep.
when he jumps at you just st.lp AA and make SURE you know how to get the 50/50 down 100%. it’s not in his favor to make jump in attempts on you and deal with 50/50 shit. if you have meter stocked make doubly sure you can EX Knee him all the time, it’ll completely ruin his momentum. at worst you’ll have to spend v meter to get him off you, or he’ll attempt to cross you up to death when he’s trying to be offensive. on his wakeup his ex headstomp is reversal escape, but it loses to meaty mids, aka just st.mp him to death when you think he’s gonna make a break for it
j.mk stuffs all his shit in the air every single time more or less.
you have to be on his ass all the time because he gets doubly powerful off of his trigger and throw gimmicky shit at you to take the round. atm I see it going in alex’s favor over time
Lol, i didn’t mean ex dash literally lol… i dont know the name of it…but you CLEARLY know what im talking. Or atleast you should. People like you try to argue semantics to make yourself feel like a bigshot. She has the EX elbow and EX grab and not an actual ex dash obviously. I know she’s negative on the regular dash but you clearly miss the point entirely since your more open to hesitation…since she has LIKE a ton of other options, projectiles, dashes, ex grab or ex elbow, jump mk, standing hk etc etc, after the grab vs ALEX…there is no fear other than boot and slash elbow.
Anyways got a lot of big shots here who seem to know better. Who also take ever little thing literally to sound smarter. Sorry i don’t know the name of every move every character has so i chose general statement…and basic comprehension should know what i meant.
If you guys want to play some matchups and show me how great your Alex is, and this secret tech your holding on. I’ll even play your mains.
Did i say his grab was the only thing holding him back? Guess you skipped over every other little detail.
Necalli has an 8 frame grab and amazing dash, 3 frame jabs, god mode v-trigger and a damn SRK… i’ll take an invincible SRK reversal anyday… i dont care if it it’s -1000 negative on block and is crush counter… the biggest defensive tool is getting people to try and bait it to only not have them use it. I dont think any necalli player is complaining about his 8 frame grab…lol…because he’s not a GRAPPLER…but a damn nice bonus.
Yeah I’m looking forward to some buffs. As much as I love some of the new juggles, they happen rarely and some of the personal and indirect nerfs are felt every round.
In the meantime, here’s a video. It may have been staged but I kreygasmed anyway.
Just to add to this, once you have reacting to dash down, press F+HP when you see it. Free CC and it’s active enough that he’ll never be intangible for the full duration of it.
Vesper arcade’s tier list is jank as fuckkkkkk. I think he’s a solid content creator but doesn’t have enough results or evidence of solid theory crafting to make the suspect reasons on his list imply further insight than anyone I play with.
People look - Alex, in his current form, does not need buffs.
Is he a contender for Chun’s spot at the top of the mountain? No.
Is he so bad that he’s unplayable? No.
I don’t understand why people feel the need for a character to be top tier. Not every character can be. Especially in a game where the tier list feels a lot more condensed compared to something like Mahvel. As a Hsien-Ko player trying to fight Vergil’s, Magneto’s and Zeros let me tell you - Alex is fine.
The best things people have mentioned are the small quality of life buffs such as changing the V-Reversal to f.PPP but even then, they’re not necessary.
Maybe I’m just a glutton for punishment but I feel like Alex is perhaps the lower end of mid tier, and that’s ok. I am more than happy for him to not be godlike as he is enjoyable to play.
Obviously this is just my opinion but I’ve seen more cries for buffs in here than I have in almost every other character sub-forum. If I hadn’t played the character and just went from what has been said here I would have to assume that half of Alex’s buttons are missing or his moves incomplete.
Pros huh? I’m a platinum Birdie player. I beaten Alex Valle in a set vs his Ryu. Viscant no offence to him but i played him and beaten him many times in rank (His Bison, Chun and Alex)…hes a Marvel player and not so much a Street Fighter player from what i can tell. Played and lost/won vs multiple players such as Flash Metroid, PgX_Ice, Jibbo, BannanaKen, Tampa Bison. NuckleDu, Floe, etc. The matches i did lose have been pretty close…the only time i got bopped was vs Sethlolol. So yeah, i’m not some random noob with no victories in his belt. And as a Birdie player i translated over to Alex very easily…but the flaws are largely the same but in many other ways worse. Maybe you dont see it because you play the least honest character and need some “Pro” to tell you he’s bad to actually agree with it.
And when did i say he’s bad? I rated him B- which is still competitive but still very flawed. And for the record me beating any top players does not mean i think i’m better than them, i’m just saying i can hang with the best…and Viscant mentions his stomp being bad, but based on your reasoning, it’s been 2 weeks! Asking for it to be buff is to premature. I’m sure -5 on block and 2 active frames means there’s some secret tech Capcom has for it. Right??
