Alex General Discussion: "At ease, loo-suh!" The Alex SFV Thread

I wanted to put clips of Alex’s buttons losing to Ryu’s j.LK in my video, just to warn people against trying to anti-air it, but it would’ve been way too long if I really wanted to include everything. But, yeah, that button is a problem for everybody, but I think jab still beats it (mostly trades) if he’s not right on top of you.

It beats from any angle and seems completely dependent upon when the Ryu presses the button as opposed to positioning, I’ve played a bunch of Ryu’s and just played the 110th ranked to boot, managed to 2-0 him even with the trade issue.

It doesn’t make st.lp bad, it just stops Alex from getting walk-up pressure on the air reset. Fuck Ryu’s j.lk.

How are you guys in terms of meter management? I try and keep 2 stocks just for EX Knee as an anti-air, if st.LP or cr.HP aren’t working out. Also using EX Knee to keep people from trying to jump out of the corner. Sometimes I’ll combo into EX Flash Chop for punishing to get a knockdown and reset the spacing. Trying to limit my use of EX Elbow as a “get in” tool. Rarely ill throw in EX Headbutt, if I haven’t used it all game. Other than those scenarios, I usually stay fully stocked and looking to land super.

Fair chunk of my meter goes into EX Chop, that move is too good.

EX Chop > EX Elbow > EX Stomp > EX Headbutt > EX Powerbomb

Meter… Management…?
I’m sorry… I don’t understand.
xD

My preferred usage of meter -
Ex-Knee, Ex-Chop, ExElbow, Ex-Power Drop, Super, Ex-Stomp, Ex-Headbutt
If I ever use meter on Ex-Power Bomb it’s because I was mashing too hard.

what about knee and backdrop? Is it worth using?

Ok, so today I was supposed to be streaming but due to one reason or another I wasn’t able to.
Instead I spend the last few hours putting this together. It’s kind of a compilation of things that we know about already + some stuff that I’ve come up with.

Idk why but my mind skipped a beat and completely forgot them…

EX Chop > EX Knee > EX Elbow > EX Stomp > EX Heabutt > EX Powerdrop > EX Powerbomb

Knee is crucial, can’t believe I forgot to write that in. Powerdrop is good, but first you actually need to land h.slash, and even then it’s only good if you want a stronger follow-up after the Powerdrop or are chasing stun. And if you wanted a better follow-up, chances are you could have done something different that isn’t h.chop xx EX powerdrop to begin with.

can you lk slash after an ex powerdrop? the KD is supposed to be the same as powerbomb but i haven’t checked to see if you have time to get charge

Yeah you can and it hits meaty. That seems to be the “Go to” follow up to PowerBomb/Ex-PowerDrop/Super at the moment.

ok. i would say ex powerdrop is worth it for guaranteed counterhit situations where the backdrop puts them in the corner, just because the meaty elbow gets you close and helps you chase stun after

It’s a shame that regular PowerDrop is only +6. :frowning:
I guess it’s fair though since it’s from a combo.

I’ve gotten pretty decent at anti airing with non ex knee

Hitting Sims limbs with st.hp buffered into M.slash elbow from nearly full screen is godlike. St.lp destroying his teleport mixups, I think Alex beats him badly.

I was going to dedicate time after work to counter hitting Sim limbs. Only character I haven’t gone against as Alex and I want to be ready. Not looking forward to it.

I was hitting him out of his divekicks pretty cleanly with st.mk too

What the fuck!? Did you even read what I said or are your interpretations skills that bad!? I said: “Yes, obviously I was talking about after the grab.” THIS MEANS THE POST KNOCK SETUP AND AFTER THE OPPONENT HAS BEEN GRABBED!!!

And like if you cant even understand something as simple and obvious as that then the rest of the discussion is pointless, plus your shitty replies to my points while trying to attack me personally were laughable and proves you arent capable of a civil discussion. **Phew… **
Also, really, you lack basic interpretation skills and knowledge of how this game works. Like, why bother? I’m so done discussing with you lmao.

Good luck Alex forums.

Anyone seen this? Pretty cool:

The m

Seems to me that it is the result of the game storing commands some frames after the input.

ProblemX does regularly forward dash into Scissor Kicks with Bison, so I guess the input is similar: Charge back, input double forward and then kick.
