“Charge buffering” or just getting your charge on the earliest frame possible. Let’s say the opponent is blocking you, and you want to do an EX Stomp to continue pressure and threaten an overhead very quickly - you can do st.mp > cr.lp xx EX Stomp but you need to charge your EX Stomp the MOMENT you press st.mp to be able to charge for the necessary amount of frames when cancelling out of cr.lp.
The only trick to charge moves is being able to get in the charge position as fast as humanly possible.
Not really, just hold back/down-back whenever you’re pressuring them. He only has 3 charge options and 2 of them(Stomp and Headbutt) are used sparingly most matches, the only time you really need down-charge for these moves is when you want to get in their face or beat a fireball. Having back charge is the most important, light elbow is a great move.
Hi guys I am a first time poster here I main zangief but I am currently loving alex. I wanted to know what are your go to Anti airs? Im having a difficult time with jump ins I have just been trying to use st lp but its difficult to hit it consistently.
Distancing comes into play here, options are thus -
EX Knee
st.lp
cr.hp
in that order of viability. EX knee expends bar however, so it can’t be a consistent answer. Cr.hp only works against far jumps due to how it moves Alex forward, and st.lp needs to be timed so the hitbox connects on it’s active frames.
He doesn’t feel the same tbh, even if they did return I just have an inkling they’d miss certain aspects of 3S. SFV Alex is a slight shade different overall and feels reminiscent, but not similar. I’d love to see more 3S player resurgence though, a lot of the old players are geniuses at their craft.
This was more helpful for me than every post I read and breakdown I watched. I really wasn’t using my lights properly, or enough.
Also, Alex’s damage on a strong combo that ends with MP Flash into Power bomb reset is pretty disgusting. He also gets the guard crush then resets into Power Bomb and the damage is great! I was really struggling to put out any meaningful damage after guard break setups.
Certainly not polished play by any means (Those yolo dives that no-one was punishing haha) but it at least looks like he’s using the character in a way that works.
How long has 801 Strider been playing fighting games? I thought he started with IV, but he is clearly double tapping, which I’ve never heard new-school players do.
Im not one of those people that is down on SFV or anything but its sad how awful looking Alex is. Almost everything else about SFV I LOVE but WTF alex looks like trash. Hes super fun to play though. Cant wait for the SF3 alt on PC or hopefully please capcom makes one.
