Most practical time to do a v skill is just after a f.throw or b.throw if you donât mind stopping your pressure for some reason (theyâre in the corner I guess?)
Thatâs a good point. Still, I would think it wouldnât be difficult to make it so that a âhard hitâ would build gauge for Alex, kinna like how Dhalsimâs normals out of his v-skill build his gauge.
Iâve got a question, how do we know Elbow/Slash are safe on block against cast? Is it universally safe or are there characters who can punish it when spaced? And how lenient is the spacing required to make Elbows and Chops safe?
QuestionsâŚquestionsâŚand too lazy to lab myselfâŚ
LK Elbow Slash pushes people far on block, kinda reminds of FANGâs lk mist in blockstrings. Chun/Vega should be the ones to test against to see if LK Elbow is safe vs everything on block.
Eh, not really. He feels a hell of a lot more mobile than Chadha. Alex doesnât seem to play like a pure grappler here. Zangief honestly plays a lot more like Chadha due to having a parry on demand and the air SPD. Alex occupies a space between Gief and Laura. Shittier Necalli with way better pokes is my first thought.
I was testing with Ryuâs mp dp and both were safe. LK Elbow is -2 in the Prima guide and LP chop is -4 but can be spaced to be safe
Edit: woah nevermind in Prima it says LK elbow is -3. I donât know if that means a 3 frame jab will punish it though. I donât 100% understand frame data yet. I swear it said -2 last nightâŚ
You donât lose hard hit on a whiff, only on a hit (wether itâs blocked or not) or when you take damage.
But yeah, I wish it built V-gauge, even just a little to sweeten the deal, but considering how much V-skill expands Alexâs offensive options, it would be very strong.
I get what youâre saying, but some of Alexâs counter hit combos are fantastic, so I donât know if we can really rate the V-skill realistically until more of his tech develops. I do like that it makes him a monster after a stun though, considering stun is a big part of his gameplan, and he does so much more stun than damage.
My assessment at this point is that, compared to Ryu and Cammy (the other two characters I play in 3S, ST, and V), Alex requires a damn MASTERS degree to play. After a few hours playing him I didnât even feel like I understood all his individual options, let alone how to apply them, and Iâm an Alex main in 3S.
At this point Iâve only seen two types of successful Alex players. People that use less than half of his options, but apply them well with good fundementals, and people that use all of his stuff in the most random, incomprehensible way possible and put people on tilt.
Until we see some solid Alex players that actually implement ALL of his options into their gameplan, itâs going to be hard to rate how good he is, or even know what that gameplan is.
He doesnât seem top tier to me at this point by any stretch, heâs a very difficult character to use, and hens kindof all over the place, but hey, thatâs Alex.
So whatâs the best followup non-meter and meterd for an AA CC f.hp? Also what properties does ex powerbomb have other than more damage? Anything else? Learn me Senpai.
Also just beat a 2700 Alex (obviously his rank is not with regards to that character) but he still played really well, mostly just trying to out footsie me and he done a pretty good job⌠I just abused the air #ifeeldirty but I also won the second round on good vtrigger usage and he wasted his tbh. I feel the grind but slowly its coming together against people that arenât connected to pogosticks.
You can probably juggle with a lp chop. I assume an AA CC f.HP puts them in a juggle state. EX knee is a safe metered option. Iâm not sure what is best here. Guess itâs something to experiment with tonight!
