Guys so I found something today Alex can do St.HP to HP chop to trade with 4 frame move non invincible the trade will benefit Alex and he continue to combo with St.HP or CR.HP test against Ken’s back MP

No chops seem to connect, they’re too far away. From my testing you can either reset with s.hk or s.mk then dash and you can powerbomb them or your only other option is ex.dp (which is cool, its like 240 damage). One thing I will say is if you have the chance to set it up using vskill to then use f.hp as an AA (obviously in the right situation) makes it so you can use it really early and not have to obviously counter hit.

assuming you mean after CC f+HP anti air, you can get MK slash elbow but you have to hit them kinda high, best against floaty jumps like chun

Dunno if it works, but a carryover trick from 3s is land an air-to-air, land and do a headbutt (or ex stomp in this game) and get a grab. In 3s he could occasionally land a DDT when they landed, headbutt can more or less do the same here.

Ah ok, with that in mind… Played around a bit more you can get m.chop and l/m/ex.slash to connect. I can’t see in the heat of it you’ll necessarily be doing slash follow ups on reaction but with a lot of practice you could get it consistent I suppose. Ex dp is best damage though.

m.chop = 168
m.slash = 177
ex.slash = 232
ex.dp = 240
s.hk reset into powerbomb = 177 + 160
feeling yoself! (m.slash into CA) = 457

On reaction to an anti air CC f.HP you can probably v-trigger to Sledgehammer xx ex dp to tack on a little extra damage? I know hitting an airborne opponent pops them up further into the air and you can cancel sledgehammer into powerdrop, air knee, and CA.

Timing sledgehammer on a spinning CC opponent is a little awkward sometimes. You have to charge it for a tiny bit for them to fall into range of SH

Theory -

So let’s quickly consider Alex’s st.hp and the potential hurtbox it may have, Alex brings his arm down from above. The general animation behind his st.hp is very strange, and considering how it alters his hurtbox it may be a very strong button in stuffing crouching shorts and jabs from a distance. For instance let’s say we tried st.mp > st.hp as a blockstring, it has an 8f gap naturally but would a potential fragmented hurtbox make it an option that stuffs certain moves from a distance?

I haven’t seen the hitbox/hurtbox data yet so I’m wondering.

Actually just tested this, its not too bad off this you pretty much just need to do it straight away, no charging needed. They don’t get popped up for long so follow ups could be tight. I’ll test and edit this one up.

If you ever play a Vega and they f.hp just do a l.elbow as a reversal if they mispace it, you’re immediately in lmao

This isn’t really important, but they fucked up Alex’s st.hp hardcore. Went from a beautiful animation of a large swinging right hook to a gorilla do some weird arm pound or some shit

Every matchup so far feels fine, even dhalsim, but seriously:

Fuck cammy. I hated this matchup as birdie and ryu, but I think it’s even worse for alex. We now know alex can’t deal with rushdown very well or 3 frame normal like the rest of the cast. Well, cammy can both rush you down but also just run away from you the whole time. SMH.

Funny you say this, I’ve been considering picking up Cammy as my secondary. :rofl:

The whole game is fucked up outside of the gameplay and netcode to be fair.

What’s the ideal reset after AA’ing someone with lp? I’m trying to figure this out. For some reason I find birdies command grab reset off of c.mp very reliable, but alex’s is weird. Against characters with reversals It’s kind of a 50/50 bait, and with the ones without it’s a frametrap situation…? I tend to go for a meaty F+HP because it’s +3. That’s the most optimal thing to do for me atm, but anyone else have any insight on this? It would be amazing if you could somehow be able to charge partition his stungun and grab as soon as they touch the ground. That sould be so fucking sick…

You can ex elbow after a f.hp cc.

Found some neat combos with cr.hp into vtrigger. They aren’t very damaging but fun non the less
