Alex General Discussion: "At ease, loo-suh!" The Alex SFV Thread

Lol well abels were considered pretty shitty you are right but I felt you just had to know the ranges where they were most affective, but you could also get really good mix ups off of them with rolls, which alex can’t really do as far as I can tell.

Btw if you get the juggle with the tip of alex’s cr hp as an anti air, fierce AKS will connect, tough tI ming very similar again to abels crouch fierce anti air juggles.

Nah I’m not trying to belittle anybody on this forum but I also do not know anybody on here nor have I been doing this forum posting thing for very long. I would think most on people on here know fighting games but hey you never know, just throwing out some advice for those that may lurk on here but never say anything like I used to do lol.

Yeah it definitely doesn’t cover in the same way you are right, but I feel pretty right at home with it anyway lol

Nah we got 7 year+ dudes who are ass

EX Stomp feels really hard to control, I keep missing people with it…it moves forward so fast if you hold it for slightly longer than needed

I’m really enjoying Alex but the character at least on the surface has some very severe and obvious flaws.

That being said Ex-Headbutt is freaking godlike.

Does EX Headbutt track or is it guided as well? The EX versions scare the hell out of me, they’re fast as hell and hard to control. I’ve had a ton of success with just st.mp > cr.lp xx Headbutt/Stomp

EX Headbutt is also guided.

It seems to be a mix of the two. You control the general distance but it either autocorrects a bit or the hitbox is so heinous that it has a pretty large margin for error for the headbutt at least.

I’ve had less glowing success with the stomp as it has a larger margin for error. EX-Stomp is actually really good as well for the most part if harder to control. It seems + on block letting you stomp in and go for a throw mixup

I think they go a set distance and if that distance is on top of a character they land in front. That’s before guidance of course. They both lose to neutral jumps so don’t abuse em too much!

Very true! Full screen your just gonna be pissing away meter but if your closer, say half a screen or so, its extremely hard to react to.

I know I’m supposed to keep holding, it’s just that sometimes it just doesn’t come out. A short while ago I had super available and managed to parry cr.MK xx Ex-Hadoken, held but nothing came out. I don’t know, it may well be me being impatient or perhaps letting one of the buttons go slightly. Since I’ve not heard anyone else saying about it, I’ll assume it’s me.

It’s my bad. People have been talking shit and I lowered my expectations of the people posting. If you ever see a post of me being shitty, you’re most likely better off ignoring 3/4’s of it. xD

RE: Stomps - I’m really having a hard time using them in general. The hitbox seems minuscule. I guess it’s going to take a while to adjust from his 3S Stomps.

Yeah mid-range EX Stomp from a blocked normal is quite good, I suspect blockstrings into cr.lp xx EX Stomp will be a nice little gimmick for Alex players, then you get a 4f trap on landing if blocked.

Alright guys, to everyone I was being an moody arse with - I’m sorry. St.LP Is really, really good. It takes a while to get used to but then I just had 2 Bo3’s where the other person did nothing but fireball, up-forward, shoryu. Anti-air’d one of them more than 12 times in one round. They continued to jump.
I’m still not a huge fan of the Knees. Just aren’t doing the job for me but again, it might be just getting used to them.

There we go! I was trying to cancel into his specials from anti air lp for some shenanigans but nothing seemed decent

Best thing to do is just apply meaty pressure from the air reset

To be quite blunt the Knees are very awkward and unreliable. I’ve had the EX version eat beefy jumpins so I’m waiting for (finished)frame data on it as something feels really wonky.

Have you guys seen the recovery on his dive bomb? Holy hell he rolls on the ground for like a few seconds lol

I’ve barely used it to be honest, I really should use it more often I tend to forget it exists.

I’ve never played alex before and am contemplating buying him. Could someone summarize his fighting style? Is he similar to R. Mika or Zangief in his strategy? Or is he completely unique in how he plays?
