This has been my biggest difficulty so far. Doesn’t help that st.LP xx LP FC is in pretty much every meterless punish combo. As I’m rather new and bad at charging I’m mostly in down-back, so the fact that I have to consciously lose my down-charge in order to start even the most basic punish really screws me up. I’d love for LP FC to be cancellable from cr.lp. The cr.lk/cr.lp - st.lp xx LP FC faces the same difficulty as you mentioned plus the fact that you’re quite often not in close enough range to get that full punish off.
Personally I just mash st.lp > st.mp x lp/ex chop, or just use st.mp as a defensive poke/punish. Most big punish moves are -6 anyways.
Hey, is cr.lk x EX Chop easier to do? I do that much more consistently than st.lp.
You guys just have to hit the the LP FC faster after the lp. Saying it’s a 1 frame cancel makes it sound hard but due to the special move input leniency you can just input it earlier and it will come out on the first possible frame. Just practice in training mode lp to lp FC over and over on a block after first hit dummy. Think of the 2 moves as 1 move that you’re doing smoothly, that’s what I do.
At least once or twice a week dedicate like 10-15 minutes practicing cr.LK > st.LP x Flash Chop over and over. From one side of the stage to the other. I drop it so much online, I wouldn’t be too discouraged if you’re having trouble with it online. From what I’ve read SFV is really terrible in terms of frame skipping to reduce lag
I have a question about backdrop (the movie that ONLY works from HP slash) after doing some combo testing, if you get a crush counter, do the HP slash, the backdrop will wiff 100% of the time. I am not sure if this is a range problem or a state of the enemy problem, but I haven’t been able to get it to work. I have been able to do lp or mp slash into powerbomb though both as a combo and delayed as a tick throw.
