c.HP into CA has to be my favorite thing about this character.
landing super in general is just so satisfying
love connecting from ch.MPxVT x st.HP lariat x mp.chop x Super
In the corner my personal non VT stun combo/crush counter combo is CC.st.HK, HK-Slash, cr.HP, LP-Flash xx Super (CC either punish or V-Skill). Feels so good to hit that.
Iâm never sure what to do meterless midscreen. I occasionally go for CC.Lariat, cr.HP, LP-Flash but Iâm starting to wonder whether just going for st.HP xx MP-Flash might be better.
In training mode, after CC f.HP, I found st.HP X mk.Elbow was like 240-245+ damage. you get the knockdown and leaves you right in front of your opponent.
Only compared it to CC. f.HP > cr.HP x lk.Knee, which did slightly less damage than ending with st.HP x mk.Elbow
In that situation youâre choosing between knee (which doesnât allow backtech) and MK Elbow (which does a bit more damage but does allow a backtech). Itâs up to personal preference really. You can hard read a backtech and punish with a stomp, or you want them to backtech into the corner, etc.
There are way too many combos listed in the OP. What is Alexâs go to bnb with or without meter? Forward HP, lp, l.slash is too difficult to do consistently so I hope it isnât that.
How are there too many combos listed?
It goes through each opener and what can be done from that opener, next section does the same but with a new opener and so on.
Also I think youâre reading it wrong. FC is Flash Chop (Qcf+P) not Slash Elbow (Charge B/F+K) so the combo is f.HP, st.LP xx LP-FlashChop.
I understand it can seem slightly overwhelming to see 40+ combos but the fact is itâs showing what you can do from each button + giving the numbers (Dmg/Stun) for each combo variation. If you were trying to âMin//Maxâ you could use that to decide on the bnbâs youâre going to use to get the most damage or stun.
Complains about too many combos in combo thread
The internet astounds me
donât be mean, theyâre just asking for a couple go-to combos and may be overwhelmed. I share some of the same feelings
Itâs laziness. He doesnt want optimal combos, he wants a blanket BNB for any and all scenarios. No one is overwhelmed by anything they take the time to understand. He didnt see yellow hughlighter over one soecific combo so heâs losing his shit. I get it. I dont blame him. If I didnt really care to learn I would be frustrated too.
One BnB is not how SFV works, and its definitely not how Alex works.
If you have a specific question about when to do what combo we will be more than helpful, but coming here demanding that we narrow 40 situationally optimal combos that took this forum time and effort to collaborate is nothing short of spoiled, entitled behavior. Especially when he sees what he needs and then demands we redefine a BnB because he cant execute it.
Chill. Read. If you have questions we will answer, just dont piss on everyoneâs hard work because you wont be bothered to read less than a maximum post countâs worh of notation.
Its not fucking laziness. Youâre not his/her shoes.
THAT FIRST PAGE IS OVERWHELMING for someone who says âhey I wanna try alex what should I be doingâ.
This isnât a youtube video showing Alex play.
This isnât a tutorial Alex video.
Stop trying to invalidate me and @Devdan 's experience.
I think there is definitely a lot of stuff in BnB combos that makes it hard to read but it also shows damage/stun (this is good).
Also, given that Alex is not as easy to jump into as a good chunk of the cast it makes perfect sense that the combo page would be a little tricky to read/write. Too much info is always better than not enough, the Alex forums have some damn good info in them.
There is a small part of the BnB combos below the [Midscreen/Corner and Standing/Crouching] section that lists what looks like the real BnB combos.

st.mp -> st.lp xx LP Chop
st.mp -> st.lk xx EX Chop
f.hp -> st.lp xx LP Chop
f.hp -> st.lk xx EX Chop
st.hp -> MP/EX Chop or MK/EX Elbow
cr.hp -> LP/EX Chop or EX Knee

If we pull this out into itâs own BnB section and label the rest as just âCombosâ (or something similar) then this should allow us to keep all of the info while making it easy for people picking up Alex to find a combo to start with.
There are 3 fucking tutorial videos on the first page.
There is a google doc with highlighted damage, stun, and meter uses.
The second page features more combo videos.
Alexâs BnBs are situational. For example:
You land a CC stHK ->
Do you want damage? -> do HP Powerbomb.
Do you want a standing mixup? -> do HPxxmpFC
Do you want a corner carry knockdown? do HPxxmpES
Do you want to spend meter? Thereâs more.
There are questions that need to be asked.
Yes - to answer his question more directly - the best meterless option after non-CC Lariat is stLPxxlpFC OR reset into lpPowerBomb. Just because he canât execute it doesnât make it any less optimal. We arenât redefining what we call optimal because someone canât figure out how to cancel normals into specials. Nothing Alex does requires âNemoâs Rolento comboâ level of execution. Take 5min or 5hours or 5days in training mode and make it work.
If you have questions about execution - ask them - but donât tell us itâs not optimal just because you canât do it.
You can keep smashing âDisagreeâ on everything I fucking post, but it doesnât change that fact that the information is already there. The only thing Iâm invalidating is your incessant bitching about how this subforum has zero fucking information or that the information available is not to YOUR fucking liking. We donât have to accept your poo-butt-ass attitude.
Feeling alex
Oops double post
My point exactly. I watched several of the videos and they didnât answer my question.
Iâm not complaining that thereâs more info, but there should be a âlearn this stuff firstâ section. Combo threads that consist of âhereâs 200 combos figure out which ones are worth using regularlyâ is a big problem I have with learning anime fighters, and itâs a problem here too. I need a solid jumping off point. One decent meterless, one metered, one v trig, one crush would be good. Highlight the ones that get solid damage but arenât too situational or execution heavy.
First ones from each of the two drop down boxes in relation to your request.
bnb
c.LK, s.LP xx L.FC
v-trigger
st.mp/cr.mp/st.hp/f.hp/st.hk xx VTC -> st.hp xx VT xx MP/EX Chop or Power Drop
He literally has 3 go to combos depending on situation with crush counter, confirm, and counter hit. You can extend confirms into V Trigger which he still doesnt need a ton of knowledge for V trigger combo. Thatâs 4 different combos.
Donât pretend this game is more complicated than it needs to be.
What changes is the mix ups for grabs/block strings. Itâs not that difficult man.
Edit: I see your next post that gives you options. Itâs really like this
Are you Mid screen? Y) Corner carry them. N) do a combo leading to mix up
Again, not complicated.
Youâre right, itâs not complicated, but neither is the OP.
The people posting wanted âDo this one combo every time you get a touchâ when shit doesnât work like that.
You also should take into account that in the other thread, Oily started chatting mad shit at iGuile because he didnât get handled with kid gloves and that attitude kinda transferred over to here.
But yeah, iGuileâs 2nd post is really useful to people picking up the character and I think should be included in the OP.
You land a CC stHK ->
Do you want damage? -> do HP Powerbomb.
I dont get this :S what u mean? You can do HP Powerbomb after CC st.HK and it will be good damage?
