Wise man say," to jump at zangief is to dance with wild buffalo…not even the grass survives!"
Yang’s palm is ridiculous… You can’t slide under it even when you clearly see and anticipate it…
Aside from ex ball doing anything else isn’t reliable and gets you hit
I’m finding when paired with s.Hk jumping forward Hk against divekicks is decent

You can slide it, you just have to time your slide to hit later.
Yeah I know it’s possible to slide it but i’m just annoyed that I got killed twice by it after reacting to it properly, i just think if I have to purposely time it to hit later maybe I might miss the timing and have it blocked instead… Anyways I guess I’ll try it out again when I have a chance to play in practice room… I’m just really annoyed losing to I twice yesterday I feel cheated… If it was Yun palm it won’t happen
one more thing if the solution is to hit him later that’s also kinda ridiculous because it means I am open to getting faked out…

Reading on the Vega forum…
they think Vega easiest match up is Blanka… like some guy thinks it’s 7-3… vega advantage.
i used to find vega’s match up super annoying and ridiculously hard… until one of the top Singapore Vega player (a friend of mine) told me early j.HK against Vega kinda messes up his AA game… ever since then it hasn’t been as hard…
but just wanna start this discussion because if the Vega players thinks the match up is 7-3 in Vega favor… .and Blanka players hardly ever mention this to be one of their hardest match ups… i mean… we hear bad match ups like
Bison, Boxer, Twins, Fei, Cammy, Abel, Sim and Seth and a few others sometimes but nobody really bother mentioning Vega…
just curious on what i’m missing… i do know Vega can punish ball like no tomorrow… and upball on hit i think can also be punished by slide if i remember … footsie is a nightmare to Blanka but other than that i don’t find the match impossible… it’s like many of Blanka’s other match up… the thing is… unlike other character I find Vega easier to handle after knocking him down… and this early j.HK thing makes getting in on Vega easier as well
never thought the match up was that bad… always thought it was SLIGHT advantage to vega… but that’s about it.

Well remember most of these people aren’t playing good Blanka players.
There are countless decent players of other character, but I think there are under 10 good North American Blankas and that is me being generous.
I think Vega has a slight advantage, but he’s not able to take advantage of Blanka’s weak wakeup like some other characters can, and Blanka is absolutely able to control Vega’s weak wakeup.
It’s sort of like the Sim matchup. You have to settle a lot in footsies, but if you can make one good read to get inside you can win the match in chained offensive sequences.
That’s exactly how I feel… once i’m inside starting my offense it’s kinda hard for Vega to deal with it…

vega is just annoying with his stupid fast punches. but hard like blanka’s true worse matchups? no! just annoying
i have to try this early jHK.
I really think it’s a 5-5 in AE, Vega is free on wake up, he doesn’t have good AA so hard for him to deal with Blanka’s jump most of the time, but he have better normals (fucking crouch strong) so play smart, be patient and it will be OK.
These Vega ppl don’t know what is a decent Blanka.
I think Joz plays “decent” Blankas, but I believe they aren’t on the same level as him.
Vega’s aa’s aren’t that bad tbh.
speaking of vega… i guess you can safe-jump him. if so, i must do it wrong sometimes, because i eat that stupid ex flying barcelone more then i should.
You can do safe meaties on him
Yeah Claw is free on wakeup, you need to practice your timing or use auto setups if non invincible moves are beating you out.
If you don’t get predictable with your jumps, and jump at good moments, i think Blanka air game is a real problem for Claw in footsies.
exactly… if he can predict your jump… he’s gonna AA you most if not all the time… but that pretty much goes for nearly all match up situation for Blanka…
but in order to make it less predictable for your jump you need to have a good footsie game… so it’s kinda like a circle… good jump game requires good footsie… and if you want good footsie you kinda need to jump in those RARE occasions.

Its tournament time again!
Wondering if anyone has seen any good anti-yun matches? I tried looking for Ves’s matches against that socal yun, but came up short.
Just lookin fer a video handout to give me ideas for a tourney tomorrow!
Only one of my matches vs. Hugo is recorded and it was in teams and 1 game doesn’t say a lot, it’s on my youtube channel though.
If you can find any Taku/Nishikin vs. Yun(there is a match in the yun post in this thread) it’s probably the best you can go on.
The only thing i can tell you from playing hsein chang a ton is fs.LP at range beats any dive kick on reaciton without any issue. I think this mathcup is pretty bad for blanka actually. I know some people think otherwise but i think this is like 6-4 to yun or worse. Especially if said yun knows his OS. GL to you Josh P
I think fs.LP is tgonna stop yun from trying to dive kick again…
Against yun or yang (who IMO is harder) it’s probabaly a good idea to let them know are capable to shut down their dive kicks if they are using it randomly or stupidly with s.HP or s.HK even if it trades it’s in your favor and rally discourages them to come in at you with dive kicks after you hit them out of the air cleanly… Once yun and yang doesn’t use dive kicks as much or is scared to it makes things a bit easier to handle

So last night while playing my local Gief i did this combo by mistake: jump fierce > close st. fierce > elec
I checked the frame data but it says that close st fierce is not special cancelable, so my question is if this only possible with a meaty setup?
This doesn’t seem very practical though…
