Really easy to punish in AE, even online, you can do crouch forward xx elec HP (it hit) or just walk up stand jab xx elec HP, or sweep/ throw if you want an oki.
you can’t punish so it’s just about positioning after. Walking forward a bit is okay.
Trying not to block them is good if you can.
Oh sorry my bad, i think you was talking about Rog, ah ah.
I was gonna say, haha.
Aye I think avoiding them entirely is probably optimal. Atm I just sit there. It’d probably never be worth it but is it possible to one frame punish with cr.fierce?
alright ves, you seem to (inexplicably imo) think blanka is even with, or possibly beats, dhalsim
explain please
Anyways one of the biggest things going for Blanka now in 2012 is that overhead allows you to get additional dizzy chances because your high/low mixup is much better now.
I used to get bodied by sim for free, and then I learned to just be patient and trade with limbs, then try to explode and win off of one knockdown.
forgot where i saw this… but been using it for super long now… and just realized it wasn’t mentioned here…
one of my favorite bait against sim is… when you’re full screen away if sim likes to throw lp/exyoga fire thinking he’s safe… you can actually dash forward while he’s doing yoga fire then slide under it… and it will catch him before he can recovers… if he stops throwing yoga fire and scared of this tatic from you… and is throwing out random limbs to prevent you from dashing in you can just go back to punishing whiff limbs…
keep in mind all you really need against sim is one solid knockdown… then you should be able to constantly maintain the pressure.

I’m having a hard time sweeping Dhalsim’s limbs at max range, gotta be really on point to react to them in time.
Both st.HP and st.HK are pretty good alternatives IMO and easier to connect than sweep (well at least it felt like that to me).
Especially far st.HK, coming out at 3 frames, it’s very easy to react against Sim’s limbs at max range. It also tags limbs that have an “upper hitbox” (like st.mk ?). Kind of related, it also trades in Blanka’s favor against Yoga Spear (down+kick in the air move). It’s pretty good against teleport happy sims too. st.HP nets a good 150 in CH iirc but seems to me to be the riskier.
I still think sweep is the superior option because of the untech knockdown, but I’ve had so much success whiff punishing limbs with st.HK that I really think it’s very handy tool in this matchup.
So what do you guys think?
I don’t sweep a lot, I have better success with st.hk, and random jab ball/elec
I’ve never seen anyone whiff punish sim st.hp with sweep on reaction, ever.

12 seconds in. and again at about 8 min.
Of course i was looking for the FP, so whether or not it is on reaction i guess could be debatable. But in my matchups, I hav elearned to space the fp correctly and sweeping with rh aint that hard.
If Daigo can crouch rh punish dhalsim fp, and ryu rh is 5 frames, blanka’s 6 frame startup rh aint that big of a difference.
And yes, overall that match is sloppy. Tournament finals at 2am for the win.
Lol that’s not on reaction man, whenever you got to Sim hp range you guess cr.hk, I saw about 5 random anticipatory cr.hk in the first minute which whiff cos sim didn’t throw the punch
I’m not hating josh, I’m an old fart, over 30 FTL, so I’d be guessing too hah
Meh, I only whiff like 3 times. As i said, 2 am, we had a tournament here awhile back, and basically dhalsim at full screen wouldnt even throw out fp anymore bc its not too bad if the distance is right.
If you notice, the early rounds Im throwing out the rh randomly, just getting used to it. I had literally first practiced the technique about 5 minutes before the finals match, was just an inspiration that came to me. Previously, I used fp, but all of a sudden I realized rh gets the knockdown. The one around 8 min is perfectly done.
Shit, I got no chance man, way too slow, even if I set it up in training mode and know its coming!
Hmm I could frame count how fast you have to be to whiff punish a bunch of stuff with different moves and then people can gear their punishes towards their reactions.
But how would that benefit me… my reactions are godlike.
Man I wish I had godlike reactions, IMO it’s the single most important factor in success In fighting games. Matchup knowledge, execution, footsies , reading ur opponent, everything else is so secondary.
It is a good thing to have for sure, but I think reactions are to an extent trainable. You can run drills and the like and you can just get the reps down and get to your personal max. I think it’s much harder to train in footsies and making reads because it requires very minute spacial awareness of things that are invisible or having to outthink someone.
If you look at a player like Mizoteru who doesn’t have great reactions(he guess slides a lot), execution(can’t do low short xx elec), but has great footsies and the ability to read his opponent like a book you can see how things can go one way or the other.
Having the complete package would be ideal obviously, but then you have a player like T SRAI who has great execution and reactions, but he can’t beat good players in tournament at all and has very unstable results online and you wonder if having a good head on your shoulders outweighs natural ability.
In one of Fuudo’s interviews he talked about how he felt that reaction wise he was much better than players like Mago or Tokido, but they dominated him based on game knowledge, spacing, and situational awareness. It was interesting.
I need some tips in the Honda matchup…I know it’s a super lame matchup, and I know I can punish headbutt on block or whiff with slide…and that’s about it…what else should I be doing? I’m sadly not good enough to mixup like T Srai does, I know he usually just goes nuts against Honda …
quite the claim really, I feel like Mago has, possibly, the best reactions of anyone
try to get that initial knockdown then go nuts.
the footsie battle is hard because of honda’s ability to walk forward and low jab you to death. You can test a honda player’s reactions with a jump or ball in reaction to walk forward, but you have to understand that you’ll get hit sometimes.
It’s really one of Blanka’s harder matches in ae2012
