AE Matchup Discussion: Dee Jay, Dhalsim, Dudley, El Fuerte, E. Honda

did a j.hk vs. dudley that made a reversal cross counter whiff the hit part even though it activated. Very odd.

high early j.Hk?

I’ll have to rewatch the replay, it was odd.

Vs sim
thought this was hilarious and wanted to share…
Was fighting this sim player yesterday was down to the last match and I had less than a centimeter of health on me after getting forward thrown by sim who had around 60% health and ultra… He did ultra over my body follow by forward jump Lp for sims ambiguous crossup…
Out of desparation I did u2 aa… It hit him making him losing all his health but a pixel left which I chipped him to death on wake up lol

I have an absolutely horrid time getting in on a good Dhalsim player. I think yesterday I lost 5-6 straight games against a pretty good dhalsim. Any tips for this matchup? I hate it lol

Look at the first page, there are good tips about vs Sim, and i don’t think it’s so hard for Blanka finally, i like this match up, i like too the match up Sagat, yes it’s maybe weird for a Blanka player…

I like the Sagat matchup actually.

Anyway I just saw Ves’ post on sim. I’ll try abusing more lp balls from now on. As for punishing limbs with sweep, is it any of the limbs? Or just those that hit low?

Whiff punishing Dhalsim’s st.hp with sweep on reaction is hard. It’s more of a twitch reflex, like punishing Ryu’s cr.mk. It’s not so hard to do in training mode but in a match you can be baited etc. Blanka’s far st.hk is an easier punish because it comes out twice as fast as sweep. Sweep or far st.hp are the better options if you can do it consistently or the opponent is being predictable.

I like using electricity, it tends to trade, but that actually gives you better positioning.

Lp ball is great, gets you safely close enough to smell the Jalfreizi off of his breath. Elec on sniper hp/lp is great too.

Good Sims shouldn’t be using sniper unless it would kill tbh. The upball punish is terrible for them.

honda just has to walk forward and standing jab if he ever wants to pressure blanka. Smart hondas will walk forward, stop, walk forward stop, and slowly move u into corner while blocking whatever pokes blanka sticks out. If he gets close he can always bait with his oicho grab.
Honda doesnt need to jump, he just needs to move forward like a wall. any aggressive pressure by blanka is countered by ex headbutt.

Hondas jab is pretty good throughout this match, it beats low fierce punch and most other pokes. It can be countered, with standing fp for example, but the recovery on blanka’s moves leave him open to be punished by headbutts.

Taku thinks the match his bad, i’ve thought it bad since i helped the local honda play the match correctly. Sure, its not impossible to win, and a stupid honda can get torched, but a honda that knows the matchup is hard as hellz.

Of course, please someone show me how wrong i am. I would love to stop counterpicking the honda player, but frankly dhalsim honda vs blanka honda is erm…easier!

I agree with you on Honda, I find it hard for either player to crack the other’s defense, but I feel once you get offensive momentum it’s easier to maintain it than it is for Honda on the other side.

Walk forward low jab owns Blanka though, has since vanilla.

Counterpick is smart, but I rarely play good hondas, so for me it’s not worth switching, plus my Sagat sucks.

Honda can’t punish with his headbutt Blanka’s fierce, but yes, this match up sucks, and Honda’s standing far roundhouse is awesome too on blanka.

Meth my meaning wasnt too clear. I was saying that most of blanka’s moves to punish on reaction honda ducking jab are kinda slow start up. So its kinda easy for honda to bait out your slow pokes and heabutt them. Not that this is even necessary, as low jab hands r0xors this matchup. I wasnt trying to say honda could block standing fp and punish with headbutt.

OK Josh, it’s clear now.

I don’t like too much this match up, but i think Boxer & Bison are worst.

Honda can be a beast, but if you can get a crossover jump that’s all you need to start the offense. I try to do that before he gets meter.

If I ever had this happen, I would just put a standing hk after hp and beat the headbutt.

you can combo j.HK, st.cl.MP/cr.MK, cr.LK, st.HK (284/274 dmg) on honda

What do people here like to do after blocking an ex headbutt.
