Theres a rythm to boxer, the easiest way for me to find the links in the combos is to put on turbo. I do the combo and pay attention to where that jab comes out, and I memorize the timing. Once I have an idea of where it is, take turbo off and practice practice practice. Go back to turbo if you have to remind yourself of the timing, and practice practice practice.
I can’t always seem to dash away from my opponent after they try to cross me up. There are times when I FA on wake-up and dash back and it works fine…but other times when I FA on wake-up, I dash back but my opponent is already behind me and Balrog winds up facing in that direction so I take punishment. What am I doing wrong? I assure you that I am dashing back immediately when I FA the cross up.
I’m looking for a defensive Balrog to battle, someone who’s good at waiting and punishing.
Any takers?
I need practice on that tpye of Rog.
Thanks.
can u explain? i dont really understand, what do u mean cant crouch under.
He means that even if those characters are ducking they will still be hit by Rog’s standing jab.
Why don’t you just cr. HP the crossup instead?
tried doing this and i get thrown out of it 99.9% of the time. whats the trick?
I was playing against a more than decent SAGAT recently after adding him as friend. Before that i was totally trashed by his accurate use of FA in a G2 champ.
Last night had a few games with him and managed to beat him (barely) using a mixture of low smash, TAP and during the last game;
Round 1. i was dying and trapped in the corner. I was floored and on getting up, i pulled this trick out of the bag (didnt use it the whole session with him), Ex-Overhead punch, mp, headbutt ultra and won the round by a little bit of health left.
Round 2, got hit by his FA 2-3 times and lost pretty badly.
Round 3, once again i was dying and floored… then he did the noobest thing a shoto can do to someone dying and with Ultra. He did a low fireball and I ultra right across his face. That didnt end the game but eventually i won by a very slight margin.
Sometimes it’s good to keep a trick or 2 in the bag, let your opponent think you haev nothing left and then u come up with a sucker punch. it was really satisfying.
I msg him that i was lucky to win him (i am quite a modest person), but still a win is a win. He replied and say ‘yeah… gg btw’. LOL.
Because you can’t cr.HP a crossup…
I can vouch for that.
Vs Sagat
Any tips on how to punish a tiger knee happy sagat? i know TK can be smacked down by ex-HB, but it just doesn’t come out as i expected. His set was about c.LKx2, st.LK, LK tiger knee, it’s trully disgust when i see it coming but i cannot break it(just like the tech throw). It seems boxer can not counter after a blocked tiger knee by c.LP, can someone explain this for me plz? is that a frame disadvantage? What about i do a neutral jump with HP to punish the knee when i see it’s coming? I doubt neutral jump will defeat tiger knee, cause I recall the neutral jump was hitted by tiger knee several times
Another question is about Chunli’s special
What’s the best move to punish after blocking her overhead kick? it seems c.HK doesn’t really do the reversal job, and she can always block my c.LP
Thanks guys. This thread helped add a lot of depth to my game :china:
hi guys,
i need help with the ambiguous cross up
it seems everytime i try it, my opponents just try to throw me and it always gets me.
am i timing it wrong? or is that how you’re supposed to defend against it?
The section you just read - about the ambiguous crossup - answers your question at the end…
From my understanding if you crouch block that lk TK you get it by it on the way down, but if you stand it becomes deep (sometimes) and i think you can punish it.
Also i do think you can ex headbutt in that string if you’re blocking stuff. I recall moose talking about this and it might be in this thread.
Good stuff!
I think this beats EX Buttstomps also. It’s risky, but can be done. (Sorry if this has already been mentioned)
There is no trick. It’s just that ambiguous cross-ups don’t work out too well (risk-reward) in this game unless you’re playing against a disciplined, patient player. If you’re playing against a noob/average player depending on their character they’re most likely going to mash throw or SRK which is a gamble I prefer not taking.
Exactly.
In g1 you might start using ambiguous crossups, in G2 you’ll just eat loads of srk (or similar move) and throws. The risk vs reward makes it completely useless.
ok so i was wondering is it possible to land a ex rush upper after ex overhead> cr.lk
Yes, you can. No offense, but you should try just testing stuff yourself in training mode. It’s a good habit, since it keeps you working on your execution, even if it’s stress free.
