I see, I see. I’ll have to experiment with this pronto.
i do a well timed non-ex overhead. at that point i’d have over 50% life lead and i can just force him to a wall and anticipate a jump with c.hp to win. overheads are great ways to catch a wake up. just dont do it against people with ultra and only do it once a match (not round)
i even do wake up throws and kinda hide the intention by sitting in front of them and throw a jab or two.
one thing to remember is that people shouldnt be afraid to walk up and throw every now and then. its a free jump-in
btw is it just me, or has nobody mentioned that you can do a early j.hp (early enough that you dont actually hit the blocker) and land a set with c.mk c.lk?
also - c.mk, c.lp, overhead is deceptive too.
Thats my Balrog Code, Thats exactly how I play, I live and Die by following those rules or not.
Glad someone else posted this.
I’m not so good with frame data but… That makes no sense. If you are plus 4, why would you have to wait 4 frames to do your cr. lk. I don’t think there is a hole if you time it right.
this concerns hit stun and block stun and distance.
im gonna edit that post. there IS a hole but i wont put numbers in there.
try it. get a ryu to mash srk/gief spd in that string.
Its plus 4 on block and plus 7 on hit for low jab. Low short comes out in 4 frames. Therefore in theory both rog and character x recover at the same time and i believe thats why you get hit with srk. Besides i think even if u do stand far jab on block it is plus 5 so doing a sweep after is 8 frames leaving a 3 frame srk…ryu to hit u in the face so low jab, stand jab, sweep in theory would get u hit as well with an srk.
all jabs cancel into each other. so no. not to my experience. but it LOOKs safer so its worth trying
Alright guys, new test
This time it’s who CANNOT crouch under FAR s.lp. It’s such a perfect spacing/zoning/bullying tool with 3 frame startup and +8 on hit and +5 on block but it’s easily beaten by crouching by some characters.
Don’t bother with CLOSE s.lp since c.lp is better in ever way in any case
CANNOT CROUCH UNDER

Get jabbing guys
this thread is full of awesome great job guys
During the c.lp, c.lp, c.lk, hb/dash string, I find it hard to score a throw after the second lp, when is the best time for a throw during this string?
Simple question, but my weakest link in my game is throwing, I can never link them in right and it ends up me getting srk by shotos or jabbed by others. This is sort of a mindgame question because i am also looking for good throw opportunities where they are more concerned about blocking that they don’t even attempt to mash between hits.
try walking up.
the only answers ur ever gonna get out of me is dont feel that letting go of back charge means you’re disadvantaged hence walking is gonna be good for you.
if the shotos are srk mashers, do a tick throw, which is after a jab or right after a blocked jump-in. or just stop your combo and see if a reversal srk comes out. you can punish accordingly after.
its not so much mindgames, its just basic stuff. no offense <3
none taken. I need all the help i can get.
is it just me or does dash swing,c.mp, headbutt wiff on standing blanka with c.lp working
you’re right. c.mp only works on crouching and c.lk/lp works on standing.
its covered by the overhead punch PDF
Just a little question about balrog’s double armor

In this vid you see rog doing the double armor and absorbing 2 hits from the super, making all the other hits whiff. I tried this myself in training mode but I get hit by the 3 other hits. Any help?
Also, I find that balrog’s ex kara into ultra is useless. For instance, if balrog gets knocked down and your opponent decides to throw a punch, kick, etc, why not do an ultra instead of wasting an ex meter? This technique does have its purposes but not on wake up IMO. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
i think timing is very important especially for the super, so its not worth doing.
ex kara is great if you can time a c.mk xx fireball or a poke to a special, and you reversal the poke anticipating their cancel.
True but still pretty risky imo lol.
no, if the fireball doesnt come out, the absorb doesnt take place and the ultra doesnt come out, hence the ex punch comes out for the chip. IF there is a fireball, the absorb - kara ultra comes out, you benefit from a full set.
there is NO risk considering that u can read patterns properly.
Never mind what I said then. I didn’t think of it that way.
Thanks.
Finding it hard to link Balrogs EX rush upper…any tricks or tips on doing this please?
