Hey guys sorry if this is mentioned anywhere but I am just wondering if on a crouching opponent, after your 2LP when you do your L RJ if it whiffs? Because mine hits sometimes but other times whiff. Is it a character specific thing or just bad spacing?

another question do you guys use the DP shortcut motion when you cancel it from a CR. Light kick or are you doing the full motion? I feel like doing the shortcut is cheating myself out for some reason and that I should be doing the full motion but its hard to do it consistently without standing up or messing up. My bad for the double post

well the shortcut is there so I use it. I mean sure you would rather do it fully but if you have dishes to do and have a dishwasher are u gonna wash the dishes with ur hands? In a game like KOF or BB you would need to know the motion for doing a crouch attack into srk motion but at the same time if sf is gonna give u an easier time then fine. TBH its totally up to what you feel is right or wrong. Who knows, they might take out the motion and you will be 3 steps ahead of us by then

I still can’t figure out why I drop Adon’s combos so often. Mostly involving cr.lk, or cr.lp.

It helps to double tap Cr.LK or Cr.LP while doing Adon’s hit confirm combos. Its usually a lack of practice that people drop combos though.

Just a few quick questions since I am maybe to pick up Adon more seriously.
What are his safejumps of Rising Jaguars, Back and forward throws, corner setups/unblockables/fakecrossups and anything else like crossup Jaguar kicks ? I’ve seen them somewhere.
Does he have any fuzzyguard and instant overhead setups ? (I guess he has some but how character specific are they ?)

Alright well first off, his safe jumps at least off of mk jk is an immediate jump if they recover. I have some safe jumps written down but it is too much to type. If you really want to make a safe jump, use ryu and adon as your training dummy and make adon record a move that you want to make the safe jump off of and make him empty jump immediately after that move followed by at least a second of blocking (example: lk rj, hold uf until he jumps, hold db as he is jumping and for a second while he is on the ground). Then playback and let ryu get knocked down, then mash shoryu for the reversal, whether you tech or just wakeup regularly. If Ryu knocks adon out of the air, you know the move cant be safe jumped so it would probably be better to create a meaty setup or an ambiguous crossup. If adon blocks the shoryu, you can definitely make a safe jump (not against his shoryu since its 3 frames) by wasting a couple frames, maybe throwing in an lk or lp. Normally if the character im facing has a 3 frame, i will mostly go for an ambiguous setup or just go for a meaty setup depending on his/ her playstyle. I never heard of any unblockables, if anything just google it since he has some character specific safe jumps (example: facing ibuiki; backthrow, cr mp, uf mk). Ambiguous crossups are a big thing with Adon normally done by gamerbee. With Ryu in training stage, if you back throw him and walk back just about 2 mini squares, you can uf and mk early to land in front or mk late to land at the back. It is character specific for the distance because of size but I believe depending on the distance this can be done on every character in the game (correct me if im wrong). He has a couple jk crossups, someone actually made a thread about it here:

He has fuzzy gaurd setups that are very rewarding when done properly. A couple character specifics are when facing seth/ gen/ a couple other characters you can jump in with hk (as deep as possible) then immediately nj mk into ex ajk. Because of the hitbox or whatever reason, only 1 hit will connect from the jk which will not knock down, but will give you enough frame advantage to damage the crap out out of your opponent. Thats all I have for you for now, if anything just post back.

If its too much to type just copy paste it or say that you don’t want to share them in the first place for whatever reason :wink:
I was actually looking for proper safejumps to utilize the nj.MK mixups into jaguarkick and not these crossup safejumps which are safe to DP’s but don’t give enough frame advantage on block to use the nj.MK.
I prefer them over ambiguous setups in the first place because I don’t think that Adon is that ambiguous.
The only really ambiguous setup I figured out was backthrow whiff cr.MP and then just take a tiny tiny step forwards to cross them up or an immediate jump for a non crossup.
You also can’t safejump shotos in a way that works for the rest of the cast. I rather meant safejumps off a forward throw, sweep, EX Air jaguar kicks etc.

Gonna figure it out myself then.

Probably written down on paper, if it covers every matchup and move then it would be quite a lot of writing.

… That and I tend to fail IAJK on the right side of the screen. It just feels awkward as hell to do.

Sweep
whiff lp, immediate jump

Forward throw
dash, immediate jump

EX jk
walk back a little, 5mk, jump (I still need to work on this one to see if I can whiff 2mp and 2lp instead)

Not so much sure about air ex jk, but those should give you a start

of course this only works in the corner because adons knocks his opponent too far, but you can try a deep jump in jk and see what happens

I have been trying to combo c.lp after H. instant air jaguar, but no matter what range I hit them my jab just can’t reach. Is that a 1 frame link? So far I can only do c.mk and sometimes c.mp

I don’t think you can do a c lp after a hk iajk , only after the light version and it’s not a just frame because you can combo with the stand lk by exemple , it just a problem of range.

The only just frame you have after the iajk I think , it’s with the medium version with the sweep if it hits standing

What type of character is Adon? The SRK wiki doenst really do a good job explaining his playstyle. Is he a footsie type character?

So if I’m looking for a footsie type character I shouldn’t play Adon? It seems like all the footsie characters are charge based…

You can play him as a footsie character , he walks quickly , has one of the best poke in the game , a dp to anti air.

But he has a good offensive game with a small and fast jump , special safe and armor break , good frame trap and throw game , if you want to play him only as a footsie character , you can find better like Claw , Boxer , Dicta … charge based I know.

I don’t think it’s the good moment to begin a new character who is a top tier , the nerf could come …

Ive been playing around with him he last few days, and I really like his playstyle. A question about combos though, I’ve been watching gamerbee play and a lot of the time I see him combo into rj through 3 lights, however when I try practicing this on a dummy the rj mostly misses(especially if they’re crouched) What are the situations where you can use 3 lights vs 2? Does Adon pretty much have to hitconfirm only through 2 lights(As I see the bnb’s listed for him only containing 2 lights vs 3) If that’s the case how do you train yourself to only hitconfirm off 2 lights instead of three?

Next, what situations would you use IAJ vs a normal jaguar kick? I see players switch between the two all the time, with some sticking almost exclusively with one over the other in some matches, is there a reason for this and how should I approach using IAJ or jaguar kick. Lastly, is there a guide anywhere on how to play Adon effectively? All the stickied threads seem to refer to SSF4 and not AE, so I’ve been forced to resort to watching high level adon match vids pretty much.

Hitconfirm 2 lights instead of 3 is better because the rising jaguar will hit twice and if you fadc with the ultra , it will hurt more , it’s just harder to hit confirm this.

If the opponent is crouching , use the ex rj to be sure to hit , the other versions can work but it’s chara spe.

The use of the two jaguar kick depend of the match-up , by exemple against Ryu or Guile , you can use the ia jk hk to pass over their fireballs but their crouch mk beat the move and you should vary with the medium jaguar kick.

The most important thing with the ia jk , you must not be predictable otherwise you will eat a saving attack , by exemple against Fei-Long who has a really good saving and a good neutral jump you will use rather the medium jaguar kick.

The best advice is just to play and learn from your mistakes.
