Adon FAQ's Thread: Quick Questions & Answers!

Can anyone give me any tips to complete Adon’s trials #21-24? I can’t seem to get the timing down :frowning:

a a, are you plinking the cr.mp? believe the combos are something like overhead > cr.lk, cr.mp xx hp super?
I havent done them in ages.

If they have a jag tooth they are easier if you push them as far away as possible then do the jt.

what are some safe jump setups?

hi, does adon have a move that can cancel command grabs/throws?
like the way juri’s standing close middle kick cancels out command grabs…does adon have that?

also, what are his normal anti-airs?
i’ll assume close mp, hk, hp?

i don’t have a dvr to record my adon replays, but if you’re on gfwl like me, you can see a few matches of mine on the new replay channel section.
my gamertag is BronzyIsland85.
4 of my matches is up for today vs an akuma.
any advice is appreciated.

The main one is forward throw - dash - up forward jump

@axl_master

standing mk is good for stuffing some jump ins so is neutral jump hard kick.

You mean Rose and not Juri I think. Adon doesn’t, but you can jaguar kick/instant air jaguar kick over throws.

cl.hp is his best anti-crossup tool besides autocorrect jaguar kick. Far mk can AA but honestly besides crossup stuff his best AA is uppercut/U2.

Here a video with some safe jump, it begins at 1m30, if you can stand flashy characters it will be usefull :

whats the best strategy against T.Hawk, and Gief?
i ask since Adon doesn’t have a move that can cancel command grabs…what should i do if a T. Hawk/Zangief gets close?
jaguar tooth?

are grapplers Adon’s worst match ups?

Zoning with cr.mp, s.hk, cr.hk, and instant air jaguar kick (Not regular jaguar kick because it’s unsafe on block if you’re in grab range).

Guess right, block, backdash, jump away. Wakeup uppercut FADC to safety.

It’s unsafe on block besides the mk/EX version (spacing dependent). Free SPD.

Normal SPDs can be stuffed by real meaties. EX SPD, super, and ultra are invincible. You can bait it by being close to them and backdashing/neutral jumping/air jaguar kicking and then punishing their whiff. Normal throws also beat regular SPDs. You can actually harass Zangief pretty well with well-timed kara throws on wakeup. But Zangief’s EX Green Hand beats the backdash.

Here’s Gamerbee playing a good Gief, you get a good idea of what’s not safe and what’s useful.

dude!
godlike info!
used it in a couple matches today.
messed with my opponent’s head completely. thanks!

What is the best way to cancel Adon’s crouching normals into Rj? I know the shortcut is best if you push DF in either direction, but what if you want to be on the safe side and push DB instead?

You can actually do a cr.mp and then input a rising jaguar after you hit the button and still get the cancel.

:df::d::df: is the best shortcut to use. Just get used to the motion from :db:, you have plenty of time. You can also do the original motion for the DP.

Thank you for responding, Kik…will this also work for cr. Lp? I have just been in the lab working on cancelling my cr. lk x 2, cr. lp in rj. It’s funny because when I started doing it this morning, it was fine. As the day wore on, I found myself becoming very uncomfortable with the input and stick movement.

I have played Adon since the start of super. Admittedly with some rather large gaps especially over the last year… anyway I mess up the inputs now and again. His combos while not strict… feel strict to me?

I’ve forgotten the exact match, but I remember an Adon destroying Zangief with far Fierce – and nothing else.

Simplest gameplan: stay on the ground, use your normals, and don’t use Jaguar Tooth OR ground Jaguar Kick (unless you like being SPD’d).

The problem with far fierce it is range, yes it beats lariat and if it trades with Gief far strong it’s in Adon favor but the roundhouse has so much range and double hits, you must to use it because you will not use regular jaguar kick and Gief dash is not so bad.
I’m pretty sure Gief sweep beats Adon fierce and not his roundhouse.
If a Gief is destroyed by Adon fierce, he should learn to zone with the 360 light spd and use his saving attack.

Far fierce wiff punish Hawk far roundhouse too.

If Gief and Hawk get close, you are dead :frowning:

After rising jaguar fadc, Adon is -2 no? Side question. Is there a way to calculate fadc frame advantage? Or, a place to find these numbers?

The problem with far RH is the hurtbox, it’s a great move but it will trade far more often than fs.HP against people with good normals, like all the grapplers. fs.HK being a 2 hitter is great for focuses but when it trades it does so badly, if the first hit lands you get 40 damage and 100 stun compared to 120 and 200 from fs.HP. also HP is 1f faster startup recovers 6 frames faster and leaves you +1 on block, fs.HK can be spd’d on block if spaced poorly. They both have their uses, fs.HP is a godlike normal, use it more and you’ll be happy with the results  I use it a lot against bison’s st.RH and other moves that destroy Adon’s st.RH. st.HP = Nope button

I’m sure you could work it out but it would be based on lots of stuff like was it meaty, did you FADC on the first frame possible, what blockstun the move causes, how long before you can FADC, ect. A much easier way to test it would be to just go into training mode and set the dummy to adon, get him to jab xx RJ FADC and then see what you can punish it with. Gief super/ultra, chun super, ryu dp, fei dp, adon dp, that’s 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 frame startups, that should work for any move you want to work out the disadvantage on.

The question I have is a silly one… Why the jab?
