Abel Match Videos

close s.mk is a normal I wouldn’t bother using. You can use s.fp in that same range, and s.fp is almost twice as fast, does more damage, and you can cancel into fierce CoD as opposed to medium CoD.

i was going to protest that mk had more range, but thinking back on how many times the far MK has come out and i’ve done that stupid kick above someones head, i take back my statement

lol i know the guy but not personally(not even his name) but ive been to the beginners tourney 5-6 times now and most of the time he’s the commentator though sometimes they bring guest commentators mid tourney etc… i might go next week, maybe i’ll ask

anyway, some new vids i took(do watch and drop comments if you have the time  ):

ive been choking like crazy against Ryu lately, I just played badly despite actually knowing how to play the matchup… its more of a mental thing i guess… or just a bad day iono…

oh and i need to stop predicting shit and gamble super XD

Hey fellow Abel players long time lurker first time poster. I uploaded a few vids let me what you think

nice vids! youre pretty good

(just realized its G1, no wonder you’re good hehe but then again that 2nd vid’s ryu’s horrendous)

LOL at the boxer kept getting EX TTed on your wakeup, i thought he’d learned something after getting hit by it the first time

That first ryu was so scrubby. That guy must have played thousands of matches to get to G1. Good abel playing.

omni: haha I actually watched my friend play you yesterday. Solid matches though. Didn’t watch carefully enough to comment.

Abelity:
I only watched the gief match (as gief matches highly interest me) and I guess I could say a few things:

1- You gave up space way too easily. You shouldn’t be aggressive with your attacks (and you weren’t) but you should (IMO) be very aggressive with your space. Gief shouldn’t be able to greenhand you across the entire screen and you not try a neutral jump into something or a j.mk punish. And on the topic of punishes, don’t be afraid of close ex greenhands, they’re like a gift to you on block (e.g @ 2:29). At the beginning you let him get off too many punch lariats without a wheel kick punish (e.g @ :57). Of course at the end you missed some ultra possibilities but I’ll chalk that up to end game nerves haha. Other than that and some execution issues you played a solid game. Just remember to hold on to your space and not put yourself at a distance where you can’t punish his random lariats/ ex green hands etc.

thanks for the advice mrAgua, will work on my space controlling skizzle fo shizzle

oh and yeah i know about the exgreenhand being unsafe on block, i just made some bad decisions i guess

i do need to really up my game against ryu though… they tend to mess with my head too easily.

Thanks for the comments

wow not trying to take anything away from you but the opponents were awful! How’d they get into G1?

That Nijio has a really good abel. Only thing he’s missing are the 1 frame links.

edit: Damn, that Kungfu Ramon is a good abel too. This is a beginner’s tournament?

edit2: I thought these TRFs were single elimination. But I see Kungfu Ramon playing again after he lost.

edit3: Nvm, it was to decide 3rd place. I get it now. Also, I love watching nicovideo and seeing all the “UOOooooOOOOoooOOO” fly across the screen whenever abel lands his ultra. haha.

I agree that St.FP is pretty much superior to cl.MK in every way.

However, cl.MK still has one use and that is confusion. Sometimes, when you’re at point blank, do f+MK dash. Other times, do cl.MK xx roll (any strength).

Because they look the same, the opponent will do what they normally do when you dash cancel your f+MK, assuming you’ve conditioned them properly. If this is a shoryuken, punish. If it’s a block or jump, act accordingly.

This mindgame really doesn’t guarantee anything. But it keeps your opponent on their toes since they can’t see the kick and know that the dash is coming. In this way, you can confuse your opponent with things like this:

cl.MK xx LK roll, cl.MK xx LK roll
cl.MK xx LK roll, f+MK dash
f+MK dash, cl.MK xx LK roll

etc.

Replace any of those second options with FP tornado if they get too blocky.

Eventually, your opponent will get sick of blocking all the time, meaning that you will get close st.FP, j.FP, and close st.HK more than usual.

Well the Gens, Vipers, Rufus players etc are usually pretty good, but the shotos and Balrog vary in skill greatly. That just tells me how easier it is to get to G1 playing Ryu or Gief then say Dhalsim.

Yeah… that’s what I was thinking. Those guys were horrible.

Yeah I hate seeing an opponent pick Gen cos I know I’m in for a tough fight. Those opponents just show that grinding can get you anywhere!

well its only called beginner’s level(BP under 20k) tourney, doesnt necessarily mean that people who play are beginners , sometimes you do have real beginners playing(e.g. me lol) but most of them are regulars and they’re in the tourney only because of their BP level allowing them to.

no matchvids but friend of mine is currently in japan and went to Big Box Arcade a few days ago where AC Revenger was consistently beating Daigo.

just a little tidbit of cool info.

cool info indeed.

confidence boost

lol

Most match vids I watch shows Daigo having some trouble with Abel, must be a lack of decent competition using him. Think America has the Abel/Boxer characters nailed down, about time we dominate somewhere.

Here are some vids from our last ranbat of the season, and i have to say that it was pretty huge. The whole thing lasted like 9+ hrs, so by the time the finals rolled on, pretty much everyone was exhausted  By next season they are planning to live stream every event, should be badass.
