i missed quite a few moves because I play on a 360pad and i use the dpad, i’ve also gotten a lot better but I’ll be uploading videos I think everyone could learn from/interesting
ya, see this is why I cut the roll OUT .
it is good for timing and its good for building EX… but one wrong move and you miss and wind up with just a 2 hit weak launcher.
at least if I do not cancel into the fierce i can still react and get them with the jab FS.
but c.FP into falling sky is our best punisher so as average abel players we need to have that move down cold from the training room.
I must say I really LOVE how much you focus jump ins. may be something I have to take a sample of and put it into my own game.
i just finished playing some online (championship mode) and i recorded some vids. my battery died so its only like half of the games i played. will be uploading it to my youtube page soon (will repost once they are up) and you know the deal. add &fmt=18 or click the link that i will provide in the video description. oh and also, i had to kinda play quiet/had to turn the sound down since my parents room is right across from mine and its way too close so it was hard trying to play more quiet i guess and i was playing on the floor (im not a floor player, i play with it in my lap) but my chair was taken by my brother so ih ad to play on the floor which was really awkward for me. it was pretty difficult and is something i gotta get used too. oh and it was really hot. i was sweatin just sitting in my room playing hah.
edit 2: im gonna leave my computer on while these are being uploaded so for now just add &fmt=18 to the end of the url since i will be sleeping and wont be able to provide the link in the description yet
What it is Busta?!?! Can’t wait to get home and check some of these vids out (previewed the Blanka vid, man oh man) and see if I can’t implement some of your style into my own Abel!
Hey Busta what is the timing of the aa c.FP > Ultra like? I keep missing aa c.FP > m.CoD > Ultra so if your way is much easier i’d definitely switch up.
That’s not guaranteed. The second hit comes out and hits you on the first active frame. Then you have 20 frames before he recovers. Abel’s dash takes 16, leaving you at +4. TT takes 5 frames. So the only things you can do here are s.fp, s.lp, or normal throw. Mind you this is with reversal timing.
I’ll test this later, but I’m pretty sure he can just jump out of it.
I still think lk wheel kick is a better punish though. You can reversal LK Wheel Kick after the first hit and it’s guaranteed.
I haven’t done the math but when I test it by recording guile sweep and holding up. I can FA dash in and TT without him jumping out of it.
Reason may be that dashes are actually one frame faster when done from an FA (ref: wiki). I was under the impression that was only true for connected FAs but maybe thats not the case.
edit: st.mp is guaranteed so you can FA st.mp xx rekka whatever.
Woke up and had a run through championship mode again…found out my top left button and left on my dpad are very iffy while playing, looks like i need to find a joystick asap…
vs Sagat

Wasn’t too good, I think he was in a panic since I kept pretty close to him

I was worried about this match but I stuck through. I think I was jumping too much and should have used my ex rekka vs his fk.

Had a hard time in this match…tried to keep him away, I was scared to jump in but did it in the last round and it paid off.

Rainbow Balls cross ups were a pain, could not react fast enough with my ultra and also failed to punish blocked rainbow balls.
you can falling sky devils reverse or the follow up to stomp. it doesn’t have to be ex just do it a bit early.
try not to use CoD, just do cr.fp ultra because it does more damage and the timing for it really isnt that hard. seems like it is for some and i was planning on making a video of it soon.
heh it felt like there was a slight bit of lag, plus i was just testing him. whenever i play guiles i just think they only flash kick hah. just messin with him. i did the lvl 1 fa dash or something to try to bait out flash kicks cuz most guiles players that i play online do that almost every time and i think its funny
Green hand = free FP TT on whiff, hit or block. You should be happy to see green hands from gief.
Don’t do CoD on Gief, he can just SPD you out of it for free. Or ultra. Seriously, stop after the first one. You really, really, really need to stop using CoD followups except to combo (Note that you can try to sneak it in every once in a while, but it’s better to not use them at all than to overuse them.)
Wheel kicks are only useful if Gief doesn’t EX Green hand them on reaction and you space them correctly. Otherwise it’s a free reversal SPD, on hit.
Don’t whiff wheel kicks ever. Crazy punishable on whiff. If you wanna build meter, do lp Falling Sky.
You need to use cr.mp, cr.mk, far s.mp, and his step kick more.
Also, if your CoD isn’t spaced correctly, he can still SPD you even if you don’t do a followup. So don’t use CoD as a poke frequently, especially versus Gief.
If Gief is spamming lariat to build meter, you can punish it with wheel kick on reaction (I wouldn’t recommend ever using HK wheel kick, though).
You can also punish lariat with Ultra. The timing is weird, and you have to be able to tell the difference between PPP and KKK lariat, but it’s pretty easy once you learn it. You basically want to hit him right as the last hit of the lariat is coming out. Abel’s Ultra has invincibility against lariat, it’s just that the invincibility wears off while the lariat is still happening. If you try it against him right at lariat’s startup, Abel will press up close to Gief before he gets hit. So wait for that last spin, aim right at the last hitbox, Ultra.
I’ve had a lot of luck with sweep vs. Gief, used sparingly. Especially they like to spam Gief’s HK/LP/MP.
just watch out though, when you try to outpoke a gief that is pretty much rushing you down, it doesnt go as planned. Most gief players online though dont rush you down and only try to spd or lariat but if you play a skilled gief that knows the abel match, they wont be spacing and they will be rushing you down from the start since you dont have meter you cant do much. his pokes will beat yours, if you try to roll they will spd etc.
