What does the term “footsies” mean?
The point where you’re at close-mid range and you both want to jump in on each other but you don’t want to get anti-air’d (or at least one of you wants to jump in). So you pace back and forth and poke at each other, waiting for an opening.
It’s called footsies because with shotos it’s generally a cr.mkxxhadoukenfest. They’re touching each other with their feet.

Watching Busta’s Gief match made me realise how badly I play this matchup. I knew that using far st.mp was a good poke, but never really realised how good it is until I saw it used. Tried this against a decent Gief today and although it ended in a 2-1 win for Gief, it made me feel alot better than the 2-0 destruction I normally face. I would have beat him too if I didn’t panic lol
well this only works because that gief doesnt know how to play gief. good giefs this will not work like how i made it work in the video. its something you should know but at the same time be aware of whether the gief is good or not, if he is good then it might not work and you will still get dominated.
Bah, Gief sucks, I was playing a lousy Gief, and still took me 3 rounds and all my bar both wins to beat him… good giefs wipe the floor with me, I can’t wait for the stick, maybe it’ll help speed up the TT’s and help me out a little.

Yeah his Blanka is scarey. Once he starts his wakeup mixups it’s very hard to do anything. I did manage to beat his Blanka once and also his Akuma!

regardless though focus, fp tt does more dmg and is guaranteed. you can also do focus st.mp xx rekka leading to ultra.
