dude would still wreck you guys for free. I don’t see why dude is wack, even if he did miss some openings.
He missed an ultra of an anti air cr.hp vs dhalsim’s j.hp. that shit is pretty damn rare, imagine he was suprised at the launch and didn; t react in time. as for f.+mk xx dash st.hp. That is not an easy link and no matter your execution you;re gonna miss it here and there.
as for why do falling sky vs reset. Sometimes it;s best to take guaranteed dmg. No actually, most times it;s best to take guaranteed dmg.
I really don’t see that. I see a very wreckless Abel that wouldn’t get a game off me. Dude actually uses Rekka follow-ups… All of those get focused free into crumple by every character in the game. His offense only worked because his opponents had no idea what was going on. Jump straight up would have owned thst Abel free.
The missed Ultra was no big deal. I wouldn’t have hit that either…
That Abel just didn’t have respect for his shortcomings. That’s what makes him wack. Yeah… it looked good, because his opponents were ass, and they didn’t make him respect his weaknesses, but don’t confuse that for strong play
Your options are as good as your opponents think they are. If they don’t know how to punish, then of COURSE you’re not going to hold back. Are you telling me you wouldn’t do the second hit against an opponent who wouldn’t punish it? I mean, you’re saying that because he used something that wouldn’t have worked against a good player implies that he is a bad one.
I mean, I thought he wasn’t very good either, but not just because he used CoD followups.
Or perhaps he’s garbage for AAA ranking, like we’ve been saying. The point I was trying to make was that, yes, it’s obvious he’s pretty skilled. He’s not flowchart ken status, but from what one would expect from someone of his ranking on top of beinig in a tournament setting… he lacked finesse, to say the least.
So he’s being dogged because he didn’t follow through on Theory? Seemed to me he knew his rush down game wasn’t going to be thrown in his face and acted accordingly, why back up and throw wheel kicks when it was clear that the Claw was leaving himself open to getting wrecked? His only real mess-up in my opinion was that he didn’t mix-up his style during the fight with Sim, which is why he was beginning to lose.
Three? I only saw one - at the end vs Sim, where he could’ve gone straight from c. HP antiair > Ultra. But honestly, I catch that really rarely, because I’m normally focused on juggling into it from rekka. Were there others that I was missing? Or are you talking about places that he could’ve landed c. HP for free?
I agree that he wasn’t spectacular, but I also agree that he would’ve owned pretty much everyone here who’s criticizing him. He would’ve slaughtered me. It’s really easy to criticize tournament performance, and it’s really difficult to perform perfectly under tournament pressure.
In the end, all that matters is the win, doesn’t matter how you get it. And he won.
I don’t know… maybe it’s just me, but everything he was doing looks like basic Abel shit to me. And, yeah, I am getting down on him for doing unsafe shit. To me, the mark of a good Abel isn’t what you can do (there’s nothing Abel has that’s that hard), it’s what you won’t do.
Obviously, when playing lesser players, you may be more wreckless than usual, but there are some things that shouldn’t even be a part of your game at all. Rekka follow-ups don’t even enter my mind (except for one particular circumstance where they almost always hit for me… though I don’t even use those anymore). Not to harp on that one point.
In any event, I like me over that guy all day.
If you wanna see me play, here are some matches from two weeks ago. It’s me versus LI Joe and Eric V (and one match against B-Money’s Ryu), both of whom got top 5 at Final Round. I get fucked up (especially towards the end… but I also think Abel fades like shit in a long set), but I’m also playing people that know what’s happening to them…
Thing is, anyone could go through those videos and pose a ton of “why didn’t he do this?” questions. “Why didn’t he realize that Sagat was just holding backjump during his blockstrings?” or “Why did he try to c. HP that crossover?” or “Why was he trying to FA that EX tiger shot?” And that’s just from watching the first video once. I promise that I can find more unsafe moves and mistakes in a couple of your matches than everyone was able to find in the Japanese player’s matches.
It’s way easier to criticize people’s tiny mistakes than it is to play a flawless round. And the only things that people can seem to criticize with the last video are the fact that he missed an Ultra opportunity (once) and did a rekka follow-up after block.
You guys both have good Abels. I’m guessing that most of the people posting here have good Abels. It’s not about who’s better than who. It’s that trying to shit on small mistakes that someone else made during a tournament is just… lame.
No, sorry. Machina refers to my industrial (music) “heritage” as I call it. I love industrial music, so I use machina in a lot of things. Usually “Machina” is taken on websites and etc… so I add black (my favorite color) to register an account.
What’s the deal with Akzidenz? I’m not really familiar with typefaces (I just wiki’d it and I don’t really understand).
Back when I was in design school, I wasted about six months of my life playing WoW with my classmates. We had a guild where we were all named after typefaces (Helvetica, Univers, Garamond, Akzidenz, etc). Ever since then, it just kind of stuck, I’ve ended up using it for a lot of games. There’s no deeper meaning than that. It’s just the end result of a nerdy graphic design joke.
