This is a bit off topic, but I want to spread the word. But, I’m not sure if you guys followed 0ShinAkuma0’s channel on Youtube, but due to technology reasons, he stopped posting videos. I mean, he has so many Xbox LIVE high level Japanese replays. So, I have taken it unto myself to continue his work and recording those replays. I don’t think I can ever be as committed and good as he, but I want to continue his work.

I think this warrants a discussion (maybe not for this thread, though). I don’t know about you guys, but even just talking “theory” behind why I do what I do when I play Abel helps out my game because hearing about how/why others play him gives me another perspective on what Abel can do.
When I play Abel, I play him like he’s Batman in so much as that my whole idea behind how I play is that I want to make my opponent scared. I want them to be afraid to press buttons, block low or high, or even jump. Abel is great for this because of the step kick pressure. He has a ton of options after a step kick (which, as Abel players, you all know already) that can be used to make my opponent uncomfortable.

I didn’t see you do anything that would intimidate or mindfuck your opponent, try incorporating Abel’s ambiguous roll setups after st.hp, cr,mk anti airs & after a falling sky or tt, i didn’t see any of that in your vids & it makes Abel a lot scarier.

Sup guys lately ive been trying to train before i head out for evo.
Here is match for now if i can get some constructive criticism would be cool. Gotta improve my game before i go to vegas lol. Sometimes i have lag spikes during middle of the match where i walked up to cody and did nothing after st.RH. i’ll post more up in a bit using fraps breaking it into many parts and i have to use sony vegas to combine these files and they take so long.

You should incorporate cr. jab in your block strings more. I saw alot of cr. short, short, short, step kick when cr. jab into step kick would generally serve you better.
Try to chill a bit on the buttons. As soon as you get any separation you tend to press a button. Rd1 was counter hit city, well counter hit street. You have a bad habit of following up your st. shorts with step kick.
Beginning of the 2nd round you neutral jump short in anticipation of the short ruffian, good shit btw, but you attempt to follow up with cr. strong, which I don’t think the nj. short nets enough hit stun to land. if you followed with cl. fierce you would’ve gotten a chubby combo. So if you’re ever able to land the awesomeness that is the nj. short always follow it up with cl. fierce on hit providing that they are close enough of course.
Toward the end of round 2 you get Cody into the corner with a comfortable life lead and you continue attacking in the process you corner yourself. At that point you should have just hovered and put focus on keeping him cornered, make him come at you and try to find a way out.

thanks for the info. yeah i should have kept him cornered lol i put myself there like an idiot. ill work on that situation more next time i put them there. thx for pointing out that nj.lk into fierce i havnt play ssf4 since ai closed down and i forgot all about that link haha. thx for pointing out my flaws on my defense. imma try to back off more and get the space that i want so i feel more comfortable. time to continue training!.
hmm besides what ronin1183 said, against cody, try to minimize or avoid completely crouch teching since his frame traps can lead to tons of damage…
2nd round, after the neutral jump lk, you probabaly will get a far st.hp if you tried, id usually go into cr.lk or lp strings (can combo too, little damage but still damage).
oh and maybe its just a hit confirming problem but when you get to land a crossup j.mk, follow with st.hp cod fadc combo etc rather than just a st.hk (sure, better than nothing but i guess all im saying is get that damage whenever you can, i have this problem myself too). i think you blocked better in the 2nd round and pressed less buttons when being pressured.
well at least you didnt do one of the big nonos against cody… backdashing on wake up lol (or even during strings)
