This is the thing though. I agree that your opponents leave much to be desired. But if you keep playing as you are, you’ll only fight the people you complain about. Higher level players don’t normally have to deal with the players you’re dealing with because they are able to win more consistently against your types of players. Everybody gets randomed out every now and then, but for the most part better players are able to beat your players 8 out of 10. So using “online tactics” are only going to get you people that fall for that shit and worse.
Oh yea, definitely. I definitely wanna get away from online tactics. Right now, I can pinpoint that I’m using them. I didn’t really know before. I was just playing randomly or at least off of what works; what got me wins. But, I just came from my first mini tournament and came to realize that I do a lot of random crap. If I plan to put out better skilled videos, I need to learn more about setups and making people do what I want. I’ll try to be more conscious about the things I do and the effects it has on the opponent. I guess I can’t read the thoughts of the opponent quite yet; their tendencies I mean.
when yun or yang does their full target combo (MP, FP, B+FP) they are like -8, so you can punish with step kick or at least use it to get in
i only got time to watch the first vid of you vs guile but here’s my 2 cent
what i usually do against charge chars, i pay attention when i land a hit or blocked f.mk, whether my opponent is crouching or standing, if theyre crouching, chances for them to have a downcharge is high so they can reversal your ass if youre going for anything other than hit confirm, so ill either delay tech to bait reversals or just go for other options if im feeling like taking a risk wont cost much (significant health/meter lead).
against guile, after you do a standard blockstring (even on block), also pay attention if your opponent is down charging or not, then usually after 3 shorts/jabs you’ll be at that sweet spot for either a s.lk or f.mk, but instead of doing that, use EX CoD instead. this will beat his s.hp (sweet spot for the guile to throw that move too), but of course loses to flashkick, so pay attention to his charge and then decide if its worth it to take that risk.
another thing i also noticed you tend to do cr.hp on wake up, the move is -6 on block and the guile couldve at least punished with a st.hp or a cr.mp xx flash kick if he has the charge(in your case he did punish but fadced for no reason lol). if you wanna do a cr.hp on wake up, its better to do it off of an ambiguous roll, its still just as risky but at least youre making your opponent guess which side to block/backdash too.
flashy mixup abel… i like it !

Hay could you guy like this page on Facebook for me i need to get up to 1000 likes every 1 like helps.

So I only watched the guile match but in the first round he kept jumping at you, try to use st.fierce or cr. mk to anti-air him and also try to incorporate more ambiguous cross ups with roll on his wakeup rather than using cr.fierce
wanting advice while showing videos of you beasting on people!!!
^ what he said… Guile got way to many free jumps on you
good job against gief and yun!
The only ting I can suggest from these videos… is that when you are close and try and crouch tech… always keep their neutral jump possibility in the back of your mind…
Close Fierce… or Ex Falling Sky! beside that your play looks alright to me…
Some videos may be me beasting on people, but some aren’t, and I wanna see what I can improve on (even though I come out a winner). I feel that I’m not a solid Abel player, I’m a random Abel player. So I wanna make a transition into that. And, I’ve already learned a bunch from your feedback. I appreciate all of your inputs. I hope to make my Abel a bit better than what it is now. It’s too random (though, is that such a bad thing?).
Woah hadn’t noticed this thread turned into dreamhunter match videos You can try walking a bit more… dashing and rolling is fine, but you are just moving across the screen in specific spatial increments…
Viva la brotherhood!
The only way to keep a thread going is to have something to talk about. But, yea, I try walking. I guess I need to walk up block more? I’ll be glad to put up more interesting videos than me just getting wins.
its be nice to have the vids in link form instead of embedded, making the post hugeee. iono when i put my yt links on here, they remain as links.
xth3shad0wx is too gdlk, his videos are so good that they demand to be seen asap.
I’m not sure if I detect sarcasm in that statement or not, but I guess I’ll post the link to my youtube channel:
402 videos and counting. Around 200 are Abel matches. Check it out and comment on things that I could’ve done in certain situations.
You should post new videos after applying all of the advice you’ve received. Otherwise we’re just gonna keep saying the same stuff.
im goin to enter sbo qualifier this sunday, gonna be teaming up with a master Gen player… so yeah…
abel + gen vs them twins n feis and all that
lol good luck to me
good luck meng. I think AE fucking sucks so I’ve “retired” but I’m glad to see you are toughing it out.
the matchup vs both twins would be 100% bearable if they hadn’t nerfed Breathless
I’m not sold yet on AE as being terribly worse or at all better than super. I am pissed that my 2 mains got nerfed, but learning new characters is valuable experience anyway so I’m not going to wallow in misery. Besides, I used Guile in vanilla, and he’s not that much worse off now than he was then, and abel still seems to be alright (unless you’re trying to win a tourney against a gauntlet of twins).
I’m holding out hope that they decide to do a balance update toward the end of summer or something, a few SLIGHT nerfs to the S-tier characters and the game would be vastly improved. even just knocking 100 health off fei and the twins would be a huge improvement since trades would start being even more valuable, like playing against vanilla seth…
I’ll do that eventually, I mean, my stick malfunctioned last weekend so I’m stuck on pad. Even then, I’m not too comfortable since it’s been awhile playing on pad.
Good luck!! Gen is a pretty cool character if you can master him. I just can’t get the switching stances down. Otherwise, he has a lot of gimmicks.
I’m sure there are ways to deal with the twins, but it has to do with the basics: good reads and execution. Abel has all the moves he needs to stop them, but you just need good reactions and knowledge about their mix-ups to counter. If only it were easier said than done. High risk for high rewards; and that’s why we use Abel. I wonder if they’ll do another ninja nerf like they did in MvC3? That would be funny.
