A couple of new Abel vids showing people’s scared reactions to Abel’s ultra 2.
Not videos but I just came back from Ikebukuro Safari arcade.
Some pictures and observations.
Finally got B rank!
hahah nice. i havent been to safari yet lol… not really that excited to go and fight daigos yun
saw abelity on the nsb stream last night. tough break vs that t-hawk
This match makes me remember why I hate this fucking game. That Chun was mashing legs and throws for dear glory and was still up 2 on you. ughh this game caters to the downies.
lol i was salty as fuck yoooooooo
in casuals before that (on ps3) i landed step kick s.hp almost 100% of the time, and then in the tourney (on xbox) i fucked it up everytime… really demoralizing. especially since i know that i shouldnt be losing to such thawks.
i really hate it when that kinda shit happens. oh and i didnt punish a lot of stuff properly. i recalled punishing a move whiff with a s.lk (LOL) and cr.mp cancelled into jump back fierce LMAO… i was super salty for the rest of the night that i didnt even bother to play sf anymore and learned tekken instead hahha
btw its not nsb, its final roundbats.
haha yeah, that chun player really loves to mash ex legs, but i guess i know how to deal with that… either bait it so that he wastes meter (and a meterless chun is easier to knockdown, and free on wakeup)… or just grab her out of it.
I’m not quite sure where to go for this, but I have been maintaining a Youtube page with many SSF4 match videos. I main Abel and will be using him in AE. Heck I already have some match videos from AE posted already.
Here’s a link to my page: http://www.youtube.com/user/xth3shad0wx.
If there’s any advice you guys could give me or if you just wanted to discuss match-ups in the videos that’d be great. Looking forward to it!!
Some ranked AE matches on PSN. Nothing too crazy.

I was crouch teching WAAAY too much the first round, which is why I was getting hit by most of those dive kicks. The angle of the dive kick messed me up too. Luckily I adapted by the 2nd round.

The video doesn’t show this, but there was quite a bit of lag here and there, which would explain why I wasn’t punished for my numerous whiffs.
I had a few matches yesterday and felt pretty accomplished. Any advice?

good to see some more matches from you abelity that guy player was going crazy lol
That match against Guile was sick. He was catching you on the resets, so I guess that’s something to look out for in these charge characters, particularly Guile. Otherwise that match highlighted all of the difficulties in fighting Guile… and proves the importance of making every hit you land worth it. If you can get in on him, those elbows better make money.
I do hate how some people are just reckless with their reversals. I mean, I should be smart and have a feeling that he will do them, but it’s so unsafe if you don’t have a fadc to cancel. I wish I were a more solid Abel. I just wanna jump. Any player would good reactions would be able to take me down no problem. I’ll work on it.
He wasn’t as reckless with his reversals as you think. He blocked on his first knockdown to see what you would do and you did a unsafe meaty elbow. From there he figured you’d do something he can punish next time so he blocked or went for it. You tend to do a lot of meaty attacks without setting them up, which may be why people don’t respect you on their wakeup. You should be able to pick up on your opponent’s tendencies and adjust accordingly (ex. If you know he’s going to block on his wake up, tick into TT or regular throw. When he’s scared to block, then use a meaty attack that’ll stop him from pressing buttons again.)
Wheel kicks should be used sparingly. Guile was falling for them this time, but a badly spaced one will have you eating damage. Full screen wheel kick is a no no most of the time.
It was a waste of meter EX TTing through that sonic boom. That one ex bar you wasted could have been used for EX COD. And speaking of EX COD…
Don’t roll towards your opponent to cover space unless you are 100% certain it’s going to go through something safely. Even then it’s better to footsie your way in. Guile can easily HP you in the grill doing a unsafe roll in AE.You’d probably be better off predicting a heavy poke from your opponent and using EX COD to get inside. Otherwise you’re getting thrown or slapped.
Guaranteed damage and untechable knockdown > Random resets. Guile was low on health and you went for a reset that got you flash kicked and knocked down. This shifted the match in his favor and that one reset could have lost you that match.
I only watched the Guile match but you played completely random. You have to have a reason for doing each and every move.
I agree totally. The only thing I’ve been working on all this time is guessing randomly out of pressure/mix-ups. I know how to get out at some level, but I don’t really know how to set stuff up. Of course, all I have to work with is online people using online tactics. If anything, this is my online tactic which is a bad thing to make into a habit.
As for the reversal happy people, I kinda meant in general, not so much these matches I post. That’s just the salt seeping through.
As for the ex TT, I did mean an ex CoD; I really don’t know why it came out. I guess I can’t play patient and solid against Guiles. I do spam wheel kicks too much too. Again, online tactics; hard to react online.
I guess I should play a different character if I don’t want to play patient, huh? But, that won’t be the case, Abel’s here to stay.
A few more matches, this is before learning from the earlier posts, but maybe I can get more advice?
