shotos usually dont wait for the crossup to connect, they launch the srk as you are doing the cross up. So it’s easier to do this trick on another abel, or t. hawk, rather then shotos I believe.
Couple matches from SCR. Tokido owns my soul.
4tYuIasRV_E]YouTube - [AB/BA] Gustavo (Strider) vs ??? [RY/CA Some dude from pools, destroyed his Ryu then counterpicked Cammy, he beat me in a close match, I didn’t want to risk getting randomed out so I returned the favor :lovin:
jLcxGgjUb5A]YouTube - [AB Would’ve had him if I didn’t fuck up a couple things, Daigo is Daigo though
o3l7BuP5EZc]YouTube - [AB] Gustavo (Strider) vs Tokido [AK Tokido is too good, his mixup is from hell. Dude is chill though, hung out with him the whole night, he talks so much shit, I love it.
Gah, I cringed a little when you lost that second round to Daigo. That’s a soul crusher.
need… vids… of abel… beating tokido… lol
Good stuff Strider, you are easily one of my favorite abel players out there (no homo)
strider vs daigo …good shit. U did better than juicebox did at SB, juicebox just seemed scared of daigo. Everybody says daigos weakness is dhalsim, but I swear abel is just as big a weakness.
Anyone have any vids of Abels vs good Elf? Would help me out a lot.
Cheers

Best video of Fuerte v. Abel to date IMO. Two top players of their respective characters. Abel as victim of rape, then becomes rapist and then close round.
i think tokido doesnt have the crazy reflexes like mago or daigo, but he does have amazing execution like sako.
Daigo is human, I couldve beaten him, but I fucked up too many times, while he didn’t. Tokido, on the other hand, is NOT. He is a blood-thirsty beast out to kill. He honestly impressed me more than anyone else that weekend. Who the fuck stuns Wong… TWICE?
Overall I played alright, missed a couple punishes, but oh well.
but do you think its because the way ssf4 works, which allows him(tokido) to play this way? In terms of the mechanics, how different it is then other sf games of the past. I dont remember hearing about tokido in the alpha series, or sf4, or snk vs capcom? whereas daigo, and even mago were well known names from past sf games.
typo?
i meant sf3.
Thanks dude, it’s by far my weakest matchup -_-;
Umm… you must not know your history.
Tokido won CvS2 at Evo in 2002. He won CvS2 at SBO in 2003. IIRC, he won CFJ at SBO, whatever year they had it.
He placed top 3 at Evo in SF2:AE, despite never playing the game before Evo weekend, because he picked the cheapest character in the game, and learned how to be super cheap in like 10 minutes…
Tokido has been notorious for being the cheapest player on Earth for a long time now.
That being said, SF4 mechanics are pretty different from other SF games of the past. Very different, actually… but Tokido has been able to get the cheapest shit out of any game for a looooooong time.
hah, I didnt know any of that. I wonder if he can exploit abel and make him a cheap character, and we can follow his lead.
haha im sure he can play abel and kick your ass with him lol
ive asked him about what he thinks about abel, he said abels strong and all but i guess he doesnt prefer him much because playing him involves too much guessing etc.
Yeah, Abel isn’t Tokido’s style.
Tokido plays characters that can run the same tricks over and over, while still being relatively safe, and effective, doing the same shit.
There’s way too much guessing involved with Abel, and Abel isn’t safe enough. That being said, I’m sure he could make it work

Dropped a few links, though still managed to win the match in the end. I think I couldve taken the 2nd round if I punished with raw ultra instead, I guess I was doing f.mk s.hp combos outta habit… meh.
wow close match, yea I think you had this early in teh early rounds if you had done a few things differently. for t.hawk I would have went with U2. If you block his flying eagle move or w/e its called, you whip out the U2 for easy damage.
