You overdid with the focus attacks.
I think you need to bait/block/punish psycho crusher more consistently. Do blockstrings and leave a gap for the dictator to reversal with something and block etc.
i also noticed(maybe its just me) but some of your tick TT attempts were too quick that even if the opp didnt jump away, the TT will whiff.

Again this is a team set so you have to skip a few minutes to get to JB but again it’s worth watching the whole match.
Real smart play by JB vs Sabin’s Dhalsim.
Arturo is trying to catch the focuses with sim’s 3 frame short but JB keeps letting it go early and well spaced to counter hit the limbs.
Also great patient play vs Ryu.
The varying tempo and ability to switch up his style is what makes JB a bloody good Abel player.

Tournaments are a tough thing. Cen had pratically only one chance to turn the match, JB probably knew it and still got hit with it. Tough shit.

Not much. Just pick Breathless and punish headbutts. You can punish all 4 strengths, but to punish EX you need to block standing. I like to knock him down, empty jump-in that’s obviously not a crossup to bait the EX headbutt, and punish.
Also, MP Falling Sky will beat ALL jump-ins, so you’ll never eat j.MP again. EX can be activated a little later than MP and still work.
JBA, were you not thinking of using U2 on some of the situations against Art’s Rose? I know the drill armor breaks, but all through out that match there a few times i was like “Use it! USE IT!” D:
Is it just too unsafe outside of jump-ins against Rose? And good matches all together, I always learn something new.
Here’s how the Rose match goes.
get to mid-screen. don’t eat fireballs on the way.
The Rose player will
a. use df + MK
b. use st.HK
c. use drill
d. do nothing
the counters are:
a. use lvl 1 focus then decide to go forward or back off. You can’t counterpoke df+MK without being psychic and throwing out cr.HK or cr.LK. Or just block.
b. lvl 2 focus, focus + dash forward TT, counterpoke with F+MK, or block.
c. predict and jump or counterpoke (difficult and risky), or block.
d. everything you throw out gets beat by the other stuff. Do nothing or be risky.
Once she has satellite, make her activate and block the spheres.
Rinse and repeat.
Note: If you block a drill, anything you throw out save for EX CoD will lose to a followup cr.MP from Rose. If you Breathless, she can cancel into EX drill and hit you. Breathless will catch backdash, which is a popular option after blocked drill, but loses to cr.MP and also “nothing”.
