yeah i checked out the guy’s channel and watched the viper video and there was some pretty solid play there…my bad if i sounded rude or condescending about that gen match because honestly you just seemed lost. i know gen can be an intimidating match and for all the times i play yeb i feel its not as broken as it was before back when i was still learning all of abel’s ins and outs.
so apologies for that and do try and make it out to sd events.
Oh yeah, forgot about Jeremy. He was beasting me the last time. He’s definitely improved a lot. Guess I should set up something with him so I can learn the fight better. As for the roll thing, you’re right, totally slipped my mind. Thanks for the info. I just have to apply it next time I play a Rufus. Hopefully I can make this match at least “fair” in my mind. That way I’ll play less conservatively against Rufus, as I do against other chars.
I dont really know the gen match up very well so i dont know if i can help you there but it seems like you need to learn the bnb combos AA and blockstrings kinda seemed like you were just randomly doing moves or something
I’m not sure you’re completely out if the Rufus does nothing for the follow up to messiah and tries to throw your roll. But if you mix it up between roll and focus attacks, you’ll probably be able to get out of most of them. I’m sure Combofiend already knows this, but after a blocked step kick, if you jump-back and bait reversal EX messiah, you get a free ultra when you land, regardless of what Rufus does (any three followups or nothing). And, of course, you can roll through EX messiah without using any meter and ultra. I still don’t really know how to maximize the punish when I don’t have ultra, though. I can bait it, but then I just dash up and whiff some normal or get minimal damage out of it.
Also, it would be cool to see Combo play vegita-x, but surely SSF4 will be out by EVO and you won’t be too interested in playing vanilla SF4 anymore.
Ive watched a good bit of abel videos and i dont ever see anyone use m.k to cross up opponents on wake up. I was just wondering why that was cause thats like my best friend its stuffs everything it seems llike. am i missing something on this one because that thing is a good set up for alot of things IMO.
im assuming you meant j.mk, it really depends on the matchup AND the level of your opponents(if they’re scrubs, sure cross them up all day), against some characters you can cross them up for free everytime on wake up (e.g. guile(even then if you time it wrong you can eat a flashkick), claw etc) and against some chars its almost a no-no (char with good reversals/teleport - shotos(minus sagat), dictator(with meter), honda, etc)…
ive only watched the one vs that japanese ryu… lol nice editing of the vid(especially the roll meaty c.hp ultra lol), that last part you werent close enough to get both hits of the cr.hp, should’ve cod fadc ultra instead… that ryu was aight i guess… you got quite a few jumps/rolls went unpunished… i guess you did okay using most of abel’s tools EXCEPT anti air cr.mk. hmm thats all i have to say for now i guess, gtg
well i was kinda just messin around and didnt know he was filming, dont usually do wheel kick much at all.but the way you guys say it makes me feel like i have a bad sex tape out on the internet lol.that shiiii is embarrassing! but im gunna be at codys tourney on friday around 7 so i can get more experience under my belt pimpbot9000
well me and my friend had a few more matches, and i feel this is a better example of where my abel is.pls watch the whole thing cuz at the end i play his gen again and i still lost and i wanted some feed back. i think im toning down the urge 2 wheelkick.lol
sorry but i skipped the seth part and only watched the gen match… much better compared to that last vid LOL… nice pressure strings… work on blocking that crossup jump of his… and yeah nice use of wheel kick, throw it only every now and then to catch him off guard and he’ll eat good damage. that super was reckless though LOL
Not only does it get uppercutted easily, think about it this way:
When you do a crossup mk, you’re offering your opponent two choices: block high left, or block high right. And usually it’s really obvious which way they have to block.
If you do an ambiguous roll, roll, you’re offering your opponent: block high left, block high right, (with s.rh), block left, block right, (with c.fp), block low left, block low right (with c.lk), or jump (TT)
It’s one of the few times in the game where Abel’s odds are actually in his favour!
aww i wanted u to see where i perfected his seth in the 2nd game,i usually catch ppl wit that super as an anti air but i tried to do it earlier cuz of online lag and got raped.did u see how he finshed me though @,@
