Abel Match Videos

You need to get to London, mate. The Uni I want to go to is in London, so I might end up there in a couple of years.

RE: The closeup ex-wheel kick debate

People around here don’t block that shit. They punish it on reaction. :bluu: PLEASE don’t use that shit. It’s an awful use of meter.

The only time i’d do a close up normal wheel kick is when i’m expecting a low mid range poke from a footsie heavy character, stuff that s.lk can’t handle. Even then, it’s risky.

Wow. Dude, you don’t have to be doing shit every single second of the match. You got smacked because you were frantically churning out specials every single second, and Gen just took his time punishing them. Take your time homie, hold down back, wait it out. Get into f+mk range, use that to poke and dash cancel in, use s.lk to outpoke him, stop using wheel kick, stop using full screen ex-rekka, stop doing full screen focuses.

I’m wondering… I have pretty much ignored champ mode, (G2 lol) and played nothing put player and request matches from other players on SRK. I’ve played in the arcades in London as well where I do pretty good, I think I have played some decent players. But seeing as 98% of it was online they are probably 98% scrubs

weak :bluu:

humm very interesting…we must play sometime my good friend. So far I’ve never came across an abel player that hasn’t rage quite on me so this should be interesting. The two best abel players that I’ve played so far were Juicebox and Ricosuave. Both players are extremely good, Rico is more flash and style where as Juicebox is more patient and would run the time out if he needs to. Both players I have beaten and between them two they are consider the best in the U.S. Also, everything u have noted is correct but I’m already aware of that. I know everything there is about all my match-ups and adjust accordinly on whom I’m playing. If someone is not punishing a move on wish I know can be punish then why stop or change up my style of play. For example; Juicebox style is probably similar to your own I would guess. He beat me the first game but after that I was on a winner streak b/c I had change it up a bit to win. But anyway the point is no matter how good u are with Abel he will never have the advantage up on Gief…Just like no matter how good u are with gief u will never have the advantage on Sagat. Now abel can win in a 2/3 match but in a long set like Ft7 or Ft10 its really not possible, considering that the gief player is just as good as the abel player. But anyways, much respect to any abel player that stands up to gief and doesn’t try to counter him and pick Sagat.

Regarding the stream, man everyone that played against Justin played poorly IMO. Combo: Justin just rushed u down and there was really noting u could have done about that. IMO, Rufus and Cammy are abel hardest match-ups. Not one gief player actually connected a link and I guess they just forgot how to play against Rufus…Ultra david did ok but it just looks like he was out of practice. Anyways, hit me up online if u want to get some games in combo…Not sure if u live near Alex Valle but we tend to have a pretty good connection (4-bars) if you want to just go by him and play. I would say Mike Ross but I really don’t care for 3-bars connections. Its playable but I 'm not playing at my best.

counterpicking is for pussies
I hold myself to the Japanese standard… if I can’t win a match with my main, then I suck with my main. as brutal as the Gief matchup is, I will learn how to win it as Abel

but yeah. Gief matchup is brutal for Abel. ultradavid recently revised his number to it beig 6-4 for Gief but no way… its 6-4 ultradavid vs. combofiend maybe but when you compare one character to the other, Gief dominates every aspect of the fight. footsies, his wakeup, Abel’s wakeup, damagewise, reversal wise… every advantage goes to Gief

I never get to play good Zangiefs, so I don’t have anything to say.
Rufus is the main problem, and Ryu that knows how to play is always a problem.

lol try lookin up abel vs gief on youtube

You should come down to casino more often tbh

Come on a friday and you will play some of the best london players

Coming down on the 12th of February, which as luck would have it is a Friday - Hopefully there will be some good players around!

well here is a video of me playin my friend technomixer’s viper in training, tell me what yall think :crybaby:

i like to mix lk. wheelkick in a knock down mixup, jus for the simple fact alot of characters have the tendancy(spellcheck) to jump on wake up specifically against abel. but only against seth, rufus wit no ex bar,and a few other characters

Hello Patrick. Yes we shall have to play one day. I won’t play you online though, I find that to be the biggest waste of time ever. And in a poorly regarded match such as abel vs. gief, one or two frames off can spell disaster. So when I see you in person, we shall run a set. As you know I’m not one to care for money matches, it’ll just be for pride (which I hold in a higher regard anyway). At first I was skeptical of how good your Gief was, but Valle gave you the seal of approval and Juicebox mentioned that your option select skills were amazing, so it’ll be fun to see it in person. Are you going to VA in April? I think I’m going to that, we can play there.

Regarding the match, we both know each other’s options. Guess it’ll just come down to who’s better. Even if the match is bad, since we know what each other can do, it’s just about making less mistakes and in the end, the better player will prevail.

As for the Rufus match…thanks everyone for the info posted here. Sanford mentioned that FP option select thing before I posted and it’s good to see you guys all know that, but my timing is all bad. I think my biggest fear is getting random exmessiah’d, cause even if I block I still have to guess his options. Guess I have to work on that match the most. It sucks that outside of Justin, the only other Rufus is Ken I and he lives like 100 miles away. Oh well, off to practice mode I guess.

Nah, the only tourny I’m planning on attending are Final Round, Gamme (florida Tourny), and of course Evo. If your at any of those three we can get some casual sessions in.

There is a lot to say but basically

Why are you wheel kicking and to a lesser extent using COD so much?

Play footsies I don’t think I saw you do f.mk or st.lk once

Even when you would neutral jump you would wheel kick at point blank range straight after?

There was a footsies guide on this site somewhere can’t find it now

If you live in SD, you should see about playing with the Box Arena guys on Weds nights. They’ll definitely up your game as it seems that you’re beginning to learn Abel. Anyhow, you should learn Gen’s s.mk range and kinda stand around there. If you anticipate him to hit his mk, then go you should hit your f+mk for the counter hit CoD combos. Even though Gen hits you a million times, it’s like a mosquito biting so you shouldn’t let it get to you. In the end, Abel does more damage, so just work on using the step kick more and pressure and realize that in the end you should win even if he does those thousand hand combos. Oh, and quit using that wheel kick, shit is useless unless you use it at the beginning of the round for surprise damage or at the end for some chip.

i don’t really have anything to add that hasn’t already been said but i do remember you from the tournaments at cody’s house and i’d suggest coming out to more local sd events/sessions if you don’t want to get beat up like you did in this video. post in the pacific south matchmaking -> sd thread to find out on where people are playing so you don’t succumb yourself to posting videos of a poor performance.

I think he linked the wrong video.

what about Vicious, combo? I think he was tearing it up with Rufus on one of the console setups during the jwong FFA event. btw you can input roll during ex messiah and you will roll if Rufus chooses overhead, sweep, or delayed lk flip and you’ll just block if the the lk one comes out. you’re pretty much safe if you block.

Good shit I should be down on that day so i’ll look out for you (if I remember)
