nice modok combos. love what he does when a character comes in.

Dude, Nos99, my execution is crap but whenever i see u rep MODOK I immediately want to give the character another shot. What u are doing in the corner with jamming bomb in these matches is incredible. the fucking combos are pretty sharp too.
Hahaha! Nos, did you see how old those vids were? This was like a week 1 tournament! I look terrible in these. At least now I can do 9-cube loops and I’m more offensive with MODOK. But yeah, it felt good being the only MODOK in the tournament, and winning.
Most recent vids of my Hulk/Dorm/Wesker team winning a tournament are here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w40Tknp5EBQ&feature=channel_video_title . There’s a lot more of me in that channel too, so feel free to browse around.
Btw, saw that vid of you playing some casuals, and it made me want to pick MODOK back up. It’s so sick. Keep it up!
i hope there is more modok from u. because of that and how use utilize aegis reflector (urien is MY FAVE) i am definitely going to be reppin that modok come umvc3. i thank u. if that is you playing, right?

Any video of him beating Justin?
balloon bomb was catching people left and right, lol. Good stuff in those videos. He was destroying people with his gameplan alone. Im sure he will be really nasty with optimized combos for his characters. I wonder if having modok second would be better for his team, tho. MODOK laming out as the last character seemed to get him wins so that cant be ignored. All around good stuff and good team.
I play terrible and get extremely nervous when i get on stream, the matches i had on stream were really bad.
With my team now jill and spencer dhc glitch into eachother and into modok, so when i execute right, which i didn’t on stream, every touch leads into a dead character. And on incoming characters modoks balloon bomb placed in the right spot with a command grab character on point can be really tough, especially with spencer, she hulk, hulk, thor, and skrull because they have air command grabs as well. And running the clock with modok is exclusively a troll tactic, i just do it to mess around, i probably shouldn’t, though i can see it as a valuable modok tool.
My original day 1 marvel team had modok 2nd. It was skrull/modok/spencer and i really like playing it because modok and spencer work so good together, and the exchange combos are too good.
I recently found a weird modok glitch(not sure if this is allready discovered). I switched to spencers h. wire assist instead of slant shot so i can combo off of jills random arrow kicks if they hit, and messing around with jamming bomb combos I found that if you hit a character with a jamming bomb while they are being pulled in by spencers assist it sends the character flying to the wall behind modoks head(not 100% but most of the time). its really disruptive to midscreen combos, but i made a corner combo that can use this glitch, i’ll try to post a video if i can find someone to record it.
You weren’t “really bad”.
You were certainly better than I.
That’s a pretty crazy glitch… They go flying super far and fast!!
Rubeks: I didnt mean to suggest you were bad or anything. That was a great clip and your strategy was sound. I hope you get more matches up because you are legit and hopefully you can get past the stream nerves and style even more on people. As for the troll tactics, what works works. MODOK being able to Lame out lvl 3 x-factor, typical anchors, etc is definately a strength of the character that and you proved that on stream. You better believe that I am going to be trolling as much as possible in a tournament when it is going to give me a win, lol. Personally, I never thought of using balloon bomb like that (or realized that it was indestructable as an assist) and it got me in the lab working on new teams. I hope they dont change that in ultimate cause it makes MODOK unique and has some risk involved since projectiles can pass through it. Should probably stop talking about it, lol…
Rubeks: I noticed you opted for otg slime -> body attack -> hyper battering ram, was there any reason why you went for this rather than going directly into hyper battering ram? Otherwise mad props for using that team and succeeding, I admit I immediately changed from psionic blaster assist to balloon bomb to try it out. Thanks for giving the MODOK players something to watch as well - I was entertained.
Balloon bomb assist is still beatable by tron, akuma, shuma, but it does have a lot more durablity as an assist than on point. The assist worked exactly the same as far as i could tell when i played the build at evo.
Modok should never do body attack into hyper battering ram, because you lose one air special making the super do less damage, i didn’t know that untill a few days ago when my friend who plays modok told me, I think the best follow up is slime->l.blaster->lemon burster.
Here is a video of the glitch i was talking about. http://youtu.be/xlf5UOEfs6Y (Don’t be jealous of my fancy high tech recording equipment)…
Yeah, airbourne specials into HBR just seems like a terrible idea, unless that’s your only option. Just like air combo into HBR seems like a waste because you can almost always just spike into otg into super for more damage and better dhc-ing too.
As for the glitch, they go FAR! Literally from one corner aaaaall the way to the other!
Of topic, but optimiZing your combos with modok seems to be super important in general… I’m not the greatest player but I KILL people when I touch them, and I’m still finding ways to get more damage… I just recently learned that off a throw in the corner I get waaaayyy more damage for the meter if I DON’T go for cubes!! And I just learned how to get 9 cubes off a throw with my team too! (Which is sort of disappointing, but also eye-openning)
RoyalFlush repping modok at the recent UMVC3 LA Fight night with new UMVC3 modok footage. Video 1, Video 2. Flashy stuff. Keep up the great work dude :smokin:
Was watching some old modok match video and noticed something. Slime lasts longer then it seems. Duno if it’s been discussed already. In this video starting at the 1:38 mark, Modok player does this to the incoming character : slime, M cube (opponent comes in, not blocking & gets hit), slime, M cube (opponent air blocks as he’s falling down) and… lands on the hit of the slime… you would think it should’ve been gone by now, but isn’t yet because it lasts a good solid moment. Some may know this already, some not. It’s nice to know all the small things that can make big differences when it comes to dealing more damage / anything to help win. Definitely gonna give this a try in future matches.
On incoming characters, an alternative option would be for them to come in on blockstrings & chip damage. Sequences such as : balloon bomb, M cube, assist hits ( sent drones, whatever ), 2x laser, etc… and if they pushblock, laser again. If no pushblock, IAD and continue to apply the pressure / lock the opponent in the corner with whatever. Does a nice small chunk of guaranteed chip damage if timed & executed correctly
I did not know what in the world was going on but this was crazy. “Kill youuuuu!” lol M.O.D.O.K is really fun to watch.
Some sweet Modok action here:

Some guy by the name of Link(MOTEMPEST!?) is playing Viper/MODOK/Dante. He run some sets aganist Combofiend and Killer Kai
The body attack+ doom assist after otg slime into relaunch is SOO easy to do, its good to have an easy midscreen combo for us technically challenged players.
After my comment above I could not help but make a video demonstrating how easy body attack has made my combos. MvC3 is the first game I’ve played where I have used the arcade stick and I struggle technically at times. Previously I had troubles getting OTG slime into air dash forward M into relaunch and could pretty much never get it off a throw…
Now see how easily I can do it. X-factor at pretty much any point would kill a character for any of these combos and I’m sure someone more creative could somehow find ways to improve on damage. But again, it’s the simplicity and reliability that has won it for me.
Also the combos always lead in to the corner ever time, ready to go for a reset and repeat the process going back in the other direction.

It’s a bit repetitive but I got a bit carried away having fun with it.
