I came to SRK back in 2005. Wow, I can not believe it has been that many years. It is kind of crazy if you think about it. I was never really into message boards, but when the SF: Anniversary Collection came out I really wanted information about 3rd Strike. I did a random search and came across this board.
I did the newbie thing for a while, and only participated in the 3rd Strike board. Reading tips, laughing at arguments, and meeting cool people. I meet good people like Yeah Dood 120%, Samasta, Nastradamus, RPD Rookie and many others. I learned a lot, and then one day I decided to try to General Discussion Board. I kind of fell into being a regular on the board.
Now, I am a SRKer for life. I do not think I will ever leave the board, or lose interest in this site. The only way that can happen if the people I met here leave. While I never met any of you in person I will say that I consider a lot of you friends. If I ever go to EVO, and meet some of you guys and girls I would love to share a beer with you all.
The regulars of SRK are best group of assholes I ever had the honor to talk to. :woot:
Been lurking SRK since 2000 solely because of Marvel which took over 99% of my life, but was too frightened to sign up because the boards were a flamefest of epic proportions. Once it calmed down in the 2002 era I signed up and I’ve been e-tethered to this site ever since.
Damn I was 13 when I found out about this site but back then computers/internet weren’t so common so I made this account in '01. AOL 30 day free trial discs anyone?
I made my account in 01’ and have been lurking ever since. My post count is probably like 300 in 9 years lol My most memorable experience on here was probably the whole Zulu and Scooter(?) forgot the kids name situation but it only stood out cause I knew Zulu in person haha
Ever since I was leeching off of fatherbrain’s account in 2003, I’ve been a regular on SRK. However, even when I finally registered for myself in 2004, and the confirmation e-mail got sent to my Yahoo! Mail spam box (which I empty regularly), I was STILL leeching off of FB’s account for about a year! Thankfully, in 2005, FB was able to contact RoninChaos on AIM and got him to re-send my confirmation e-mail. Ever since then, I’ve been posting here. Hell, I even made sure to thank Ronin in person at Final Round X! Not often, but I do frequently visit a few threads here and post, such as the One Piece thread.
There have been good times, bad times, CRAZY times, but all-in-all, the SRK forums have been one of the few internet sites (NOT porn-related) that I visit on a regular basis.
I remember joining this forum a year ago to see what the “competitive” version of street fighter was. Until then I was playing Super on my Wii and Dreamcast 3rd Strike.
I’d like to give a shoutout to everyone on srk for keeping it real. From what I’ve seen, there are typically two types of internet forums: the ones where everyone just goes around posting shitty 4chan memes, and then you have the ones where you have these pseudo “intellectual” types trying to run the place and initiate all kinds of stupid debates in the general forum. SRK falls into neither of these categories, largely due to the highly social nature of the FG scene no doubt.
Not to say people don’t post some stupid shit on here… it’s just that when they do you know they’re probably crazy ass mother fucker from the hood and not just some socially clueless teen.
Here’s to another 10 years of solid entertainment and FG strats! Cheers!
I came to srk thanks to Will Gotti who was known as Grenun at the time. My first 6 months was just posting in CvS2 section and mostly in the Athena and Joe thread. That is even where Koop found me, we used to post back and forth in the Athena section. I posted maybe twice in GD for the first half a year and never went through the whole noob thing. I just didn’t post random stupid shit. I used to flame the shit out of everyone back then to, I was a 22 year old with a quick trigger Irish temper. I was FGD mod for awhile which I enjoyed, ended up getting demodded and the reason given is I was showing favoritism to the Empire. Yeah you go figure that one out lol. Team Lock/Ban for life. Met Apoc for awhile, cool guy knows alot of shit about SF and Life. Met some good people even though alot of them hate me. Don’t hate them for that it is what it is.
I came here originally because of Tri-tournaments being held at my local arcade almost weekly (MvC2, CvS2, Tekken 4). Also came here to defend my friend who was getting shit on because he won a ST side-tournament with Sagat.
I have only been here for a short time, but I glad I came across it. I do wish I found this place sooner tho. I join in June lurked for like 3 months before I posted anything. I would like to think everyone thats helped me on this forum and for the useful threads. I long forward to many more years here.
I got him for ya. (I love it when repping makes the icons change!) HOLY SHIT!! ARI!!! When these threads come around it’s great to see the old, familiar usernames pop up.
Lurked on SRK for almost a year before someone made an INCREDIBLY stupid post. (I think it was about X-men vs Street Fighter) It was so stupid I just had to make an account to tell him how stupid he was. The rest is history.
Ah, the good ol days.
Much love SRK, ya stuck with me through high school, college, 4 different jobs, and like 8 seasons of NBA trash talk.
Ten years eh? Hard to believe it’s been so long. Harder still that I’ve been here for almost the whole thing. Ten years of RTSD, STTS, PWN, and several other crazy acronyms that shouldn’t be used in public. Here’s to the next ten.
Admittedly, STTS (Shang Tsung That Shit) Is mainly me, but I had to add it in.
Anyway, I’m a fighters.net refugee as well. I came here cause this was the second best site that had vids and high level strats. Although, once SF4 dropped on console I started posting less and less because too many idiots lurking that forum. I still check out the site from time to time.
But still, 10 fucking years. I’ve devoted that much time to one website. Either way, this site has made me some good friends throughout the years(shout outs to Team Spooky and that bitch nigga: SK).
Hopefully we can make it to another 10 years of SRK.
