Mr. Wizard

been that long already? i think i started coming here when SFA3 was released. Mostly just lurking. I remember someone faked a suicide and most people thought it was real.

Wow I feel old. Member since 03 lurked most of 02. Good shit SRK for being strong for a decade and there is no doubt that SRK and the fighting game community will continue to thrive and grow.

I’m very curious as to what old threads people will dig up.

10 years already? feels more like 15!

It’s been 10 years and I only found out about SRK in 2007. Lurked for a couple of months before joining in 2008. I wish I would have known about this site much earlier. I’ve only been here a short time, but I’ve already seen a lot of positive changes since I’ve been here.

This is the best fighting game forum out there, period. I used to be a regular member of Capcom’s unity boards as well as IGN and dabbled a little in Gamefaqs too, but as soon as I saw all the wonderful resources available here, as well as the knowledgeable, smart posters, not to mention the top ST players in the country, I was hooked.

Also, it would be nice if someone could post a little history of SRK, like wasn’t it alt.games.sf2 before this or something like that? I tried Wikipedia, but there’s no entry for it.

Many thanks to all the staff and mods that keep SRK going every day. Hope it goes on for another 10 years and more.:pleased:

You forgot me but it’s cool since I celebrate Knish-Mas with Chowder. I don’t know jack about these other Holidays you are talking about. :looney:

It’s been almost ten years since akumachan and I first started our steamy, sinful affair that changed the lives of a few people who shall remain nameless. It’s blossomed into an amazing marriage (just passed 4 years and counting) and she’s still the single most amazing woman I could ever dream of.

you guys are pretty cool, too.

First off, congrats to SRK!

I’ve been a member half a decade now, even though the mid of this decade was pretty fightinggame barren, this place still kept on going strong!

Besides when you even attract international peeps from all over the the globe,
you’ve got to be doing something right:cool:

Here’s to the next decade of SRK!

Rest in peace Mummy-b, an amazing man and a testament to the greatness SRK members can achieve.

Ah, wish I was around a little longer. I lurked in 08 and joined in 09.

The days of 2003, the lax rules, and the interesting posters (bloody youkai, red queen) that the new members will never know about. I used to be on here from sunset until sunrise back in 03. The place was really addictive for some reason when I couldn’t sleep.

Sometimes I wonder about all the posters I posted with back in 2003 that I haven’t seen posting in years. Kind of sad, those posters that would keep me company in the late nite thread when I first jumped on board srk are nowhere to be found these days.

Were it not for this forum I would have killed myself at work. I cannot be expected to work without SRK. Not fucking happening.

I signed up on agsf2 in the latter days of its existence, during which time Alpha 3 was the big new controversial thing. Compared to the bare bones, ugly-as-sin usenet interface, the SRK forums today are a model of elegance and professional design.

For a long time, I only came to SRK for strategy, combos, and other shit that only kids who didn’t get laid in high school could possibly care about. I was all about SRK, Fighters.net, Mike Z and James Chen combo videos, the elusive TZW tape, the SFA2 Versus Book, the B4 tapes… and so on. SRK went through some transformations, including one or two that I didn’t really get, but I kept visiting, off and on.

I didn’t get around to signing up on the forums until after I graduated, during which time I came into touch with this community of sad and twisted fucks, many of whom I’ve come to admire a great deal. I’ve been here ever since, but I wasn’t very active until a few years ago.

Salud, SRK.

I remember signing up to learn how to tech throw in Alpha 3, found the forums hilarious, and just stayed.

Now i’m just here to troll and help deconstruct Abel.

Happy 10 years SRK.

I originally signed up for Yang strats and stuff for KOF03. It didn’t take long for SRK to convert me to better games.

I came for the strats, stayed for the party. Especially after I started going to Evo every year. Can’t do without.

I still remember when i first signed up my original account in 03’ was wack. RagingDemon03 (yea, yea, yea, I was 18:rolleyes:) forgot my password after a few logins then signed back up in 05 under my current handle. I thought i was the nicest Ibuki around. Learned a lot in the xbl forum in the old xbl days…got my ass beat a lot too.

Im about to be 25 now…cats is grown now lol. Srk helped me through so many work days.

Man, it’s already 3 years ago I discovered there were more people who still liked fighting games.
Through this site I got into contact with the people from the Dutch FG community and finally had some good opponents offline.

Thanks for the laughs and the strats SRK!

I remember when I had a dreamcast and picked up MVC2. I didn’t really like it at the time until I saw a group of guys gathered around an arcade cabinet literally screaming and shouting in excitment over what, I didn’t know at the time. I knew it was a fighting game but the crowd was too big for me to see, but once I got to where I could see I was stuck in place at the sheer skills being displayed on MVC2, this was back before the God teir was in full effect so to speak, but nevertheless it was still a sight to see for me.

I rededicated myself to the game and googled MVC2 comboes, or somthing to that effect.

A bunch of websites came up but when on clicked on SRK I was just in awe of the sheer amount of depth and knowlegde of the characters and matchups/teams/etc. that was posted.
Not only for MVC2 but for practically every fighting game I played such as street fighter and CVS2.

Before this website I had no concept of the terms such as matchups, unblockables, roll cancels, kara cancels, mixups, resets, footies…you see where Im going with this.

I just never thought of strategy in fighting games beyond…throw fireball and if he jumps Dragon Punch.

I lurked since 02 and FINALLY joined this year

Wow, I’ve been here half a decade? Fuck… It’s hard to imagine that this forum has been a regular part of my life for so long, it’s insane…

Fuck I am old. 2002 join date BITCH.

um its really cool this is one of the few forums i post on where I have met many of the posters in real life and have gone on some epic adventures with them. most other forums on the interweb don’t offer that same kind of community or family. A coupla days ago I met I am Lothar and it was lots of lulz and jokes. imo. I also enjoy this place because you don’t have to be politically correct. Everywhere else you’ve got whitebread posters using terms like “African American” or “Caucasian” and trying hard not to step on anybody’s toes. Here, you got misogynistic racist people on a predominately black and asian forum, with just a sprinkling of white. Its a great mix imo. I’ll be buying yearly premium every goddamn year to support this very excellent forum.

edit: also, despite the preponderance of trolls (its too much fun), the preponderance of shitty 09ers, there are actually a lot of intelligent/quality/wise posts on this forum.

edit2: and the trolls are funny. i hope one day to be as funny as rsigley.
