I lurked in 2001, and finally joined in 2002. Came for strategies, and found plenty of them even for games like ST and stuff which I hadn’t played since I was a kid so I never really played them on a serious level. somehow I found GD, and been coming here ever since. srk and GD are too awesome and are a part of my daily routine. congrats on the 10 years, and I look forward to another 10
I remember I first heard about this site in 2002 and I didn’t know anything about forums so I’d just check the main page every now and then for results because the forums by default only show like threads made in the past 25 days or something so all the game forums looked dead. I’d be like wtf? this is supposed to be the premiere fighting game site and there is only 1 page of threads for each game? it took me until 2006 to figure out the show from beginning thing and after that it was on.

I wish I was into Street Fighter and FG’s more when I was younger, in the beginning of SRK. I would have been an annoying 11 year old kid then but I would have become a much better player then than I am now.

I came to the site back in 2003 with RPD Rookie. It was actually our buddy CrouchingTiger who got us familiar with the site (he doesn’t post as much anymore), and we were all knee-deep into MvC2 at the moment, and then CvS2.
Now I really don’t frequent any of the strategy pages and really just come for the General Discussion. I use GD as much for news as Google or CNN, probably more lolz. I have come to appreciate a lot of diversity from the site, not only from race but from age and experiences. There’s always someone here to give you advice if you ask nicely.
I lurked SRK for a long time before finally registering as a F.Net refugee. I miss the old F.Net, cka did such a great job there. A lot of people went to SRK & HerV. I registered at HerV but a lot of people changed their usernames (including me) and I didn’t know who was who so I felt like a fish out of water. Ended up really getting into SRK and the great community here. Had some great people come and go. Great entertainment-wise (ACT LIKE YOU KNOW) and great as in simply great people that never should have left this earth (Mummy-B).
When I started visiting SRK I was a designer, now I have completely changed career paths and work in R&D. I look forward to another 10 years of SRK - although I will be VERY old by then, maybe I will have kids that will be on here looking for strats and lolz.
One of the many many things that stand out is that even though I seem to ‘disappear’ for long periods of time from an internet forum when I post, someone welcomes me or expresses surprise that I am still alive and it’s just like that feeling you get when you see an old friend you haven’t seen for ages and they’re glad you came. I really appreciate the SRK family and to Mr. Wizard and all the great people that make it happen and who have accepted me as part of it. Thanks and all the best to you!
(As a 10-year celebration if we could add a purple version of :bluu: and call it :unreal: that would be really great.)

I got in just in the nick of time. Before the rules were enforced hardcore. Apparently, that was around the end of the glory days (even though we would go on to have some fantastic threads after).
I was posting on the G4 forums too at the time. But as the programming turned to shit, so did the forum. I closed down my account and focused solely on SRK for my GD needs :bgrin:
I wonder how much money Wiz has sunk into server fees just for GD over the past 10 years. =p

I remember coming to SRK and signing up, I was one of those idiots who asked what the hell that Evo 2k4 Trailer song was. Man I look back and think, “God damn, what the hell was I thinking?”
Fast forward 5 years and I’ve made some pretty good online and offline friends over SRK. Thanks SRK for the good times.

SRK taught me about Street G
Fighter.
GD taught me about black people.
I just found out and signed up this year to the forums, i always liked fighting games but when i found this site, i began to love them. I would have bought and sold all my fighting games by now if it were not for this forum helping me to be the best player possible. Looking forward to the years to come. Everyone here is a hoot and a holler!
