Don’t bother Mizuki is just a ST troll.
Ahhh, I had that knee jerk reaction, but one never knows these days…
O.Hawk’s throw loop is for the most part the same as N.Hawk’s in ST. And N.Hawk could incorporate a negative edge SUPER throw into his corner loop as well. The loop wasn’t exclusive to O.Hawk. So it’s not just “O.Hawk’s throw loop”. And yeah it’s no secret that Sirlin sucked with Hawk in ST. And while he’s come clean that he didn’t have a clue about balancing Akuma he’ll never admit that he didn’t understand high level T.Hawk play whatsoever.
And Sim has no real reversal besides (and SUPER in HDR but that requires meter). If you get Sim in the corner in HDR you should be able to throw him to death unless he has really good execution for reversal teleports. And even then the teleport might put Sim right back in front of you anyways.
Jiggly you must be playing some really scrubby or inexperienced Guile players. O.Hawk versus Guile in ST was no better than 4-6 with the advantage being clearly to Guile. Now that the dive is less effective, and Hawk’s throw can be beaten with flash kicks, the matchup could not have shifted anywhere near T.Hawk’s favor in HDR.
Mizuki wtf are you talking about…? Jumping jab and short WHIFF against crouching Dictator, Blanka, and Cammy in both ST and HDR. N.Hawk, O.Hawk, and R.Hawk cannot hit those characters with j.jab or j.short if they are crouching. Dictator’s c.mk doesn’t have anything magical about it, it’s just that putting him in crouch makes your j.jab whiff, and when you whiff a jumping attack, and land on a ground normal, that ground normal can even hit meaty (no trip guard for Hawk). So you’ve been jumping on Dictator with jab all this time and you never thought that the j.jab was whiffing?
The guiles I’ve based this off of are Marsgatti, brian, TO13GO13, and Muteki (but for only a couple rounds on Muteki). The Dive strategy worked awesome. If they ever took a J.Jab, that would usually hit confirm into a DP (or Id go for the next Jab and not throw at all, then reset the situation after I blocked the Flash Kick).
The 3 people where I’ll really admit the Dive being worse is against the Shoto’s and Sagat. That’s a harder fight for Hawk in HDR than it is in ST.
Where did I say Hawk had advantage vs Guile? There’s no way he did even in original ST, that was one of my most dreaded matchups in original ST, and it doesn’t help that it is severely WORSE in hdr.
The problem is, is getting Sim to the corner, it’s a lot more harder than you think really. Although once you do get him to the corner it’s totally in Hawk’s advantage and I don’t deny that.
Have you not read NKI’s chun post? I’m sure Cammy is actually scraping the barrel with her too. I don’t know too much about Fei’s changes to say much on him other than I heard he got worse? Gief is still Gief sadly…
Hm, I forgot to add that j.jab/short do whiff against crouching Dic, I probably meant to say that cr.mk is a really good reason to not jump in on him bc of it being pretty good punish. I’m sure no one is sane enough to jump in on a crouching Blanka anyways unless you just want to get ball’d to death really.
fite me
Pink text. Why?
Its 6-4 in Guile’s favor in HDR. How the hell are you gonna tell me its severely worse in HDR, when the strategies I’ve done (too good players at that) worked incredibly well. You didn’t even know who brian was though, so I think I’ll take anything that you about the Hawk vs. Guile match-up with a grain of salt from now on.
Ask any Dhalsim player what they’re more afraid of, the New Dive, or the Old Dive and tell me your responses. Its undeniably the key move that made the fight easier for Hawk.
Not a Chun player by any means, but if NKI said Chun is the worst, that automatically means she is? I respect NKI a lot, but that’s a pretty silly thing to believe.
Chun is not even close to the worst character in the game.
Which is what I’ve been saying for like… every post I’ve said. Guile has the advantage so much in both versions of ST. And I don’t play XBL, sorry I play at tourneys.
Sabin said he’d be more scared of a knockdown. I can ask other players for their opinion, but I’m sure I’ll get the same answer.
I find it really believable, and trying to play her in HDR is a nightmare. She really has nothing to win with other than walking super still (which does shit damage) Find me a chun player that has won a big HDR tourney, or has come close.
Anyways, I’m done here, I don’t even give a shit about this game so I don’t even know why I’m trying to continue this discussion.
Nah, the new dive is way more scary. Here’s what I think about the old dive: “Ima hold back now. Oh, you dived? Roundhouse fool! Now get back to the other side of the screen, like a good Hawk.” At best it’s “I got hit? Oh, good thing that was mid screen. Let me mount a defense while you try to desperately get back in after the knockdown”. If you don’t think the new dive is a better tool, you’re not using it right…IMO.
So basically your tiers are top tier and then everyone else. I like it. It’s simple and there’s not much room for debate which character goes into which tier.
The Chun-Li matchup is actually somewhat difficult for Cammy, I’d very much like to see where you got your findings.
u sound really bitter. i think u might be playing hawk wrong in HDR cuz i dont see much of these problems u talk about. worst match up i can think of is against honda cuz of his wake up jab headbutt. everyone else, once u get a knock down with the dp which is easy as shit, it should be pretty much overs with elbow throw loops and cross over touch of death combos. i think hawk would be the absolute best/cheapest player in the game if it wasn’t for the bad honda match up.
Not really. He still has other problem matches other than Honda (Cammy and Ken). Solid mid-tier though.
Ja, I can usually handle Hawk (well, yours fugging hurts, but i’ll still try) with solid Guile (I love teh dive stuffage) play, I sure do miss my free Sim win though (;p)… Mid Tier for sure, although “mid” is a big area in HDR, heck even the “low” tiers in HDR are competitive.
i kinda see what ur talking about with camy, but ken is like a cake walk unless its top top ken players. but at that level of play everyone is hard. either way, everyone can be evened out with a tick super. come to think of it, yeah, i guess honda, camy, ken, and hawk would be problem match ups because of there fast wake up reversals. thats why i do training mode in classic mode, cuz if i can tick 720, tick double half circle is automatic.

At norcal regionals someone got 4th or 5th using Chun-li, at the fudruckers side tourney last weekend, someone got 3rd with Chun-li. Worst possible case is she’s mid-tier, nothing less.
MongoloRoboCop is amazing. He was the guy at Fudruckers. I think he was also the same guy at NCR.
beefbowl is the best chun player i’ve witnessed. i saw him bowl through watson afro legends alex valle and all those pros at a tourney before so the dude is a beast. this was anniversary edition, and he was killing it with ST chun. i haven’t seen him on HD remix but i’m sure if he starts playing it wont take him long to get up to speed.
