how far ahead can you buffer the motion for the 360? I mean can you do it at the start of a long block string, then punch or neg edge when the string ends?
i wasnt talking about gief having trouble getting out of meaties.
learn to read buddy
hawks grab has 1frame start up, hence y i’ve been stuffed several times doing a reversal 360. Dont c how u can argue this when its happend several times.
I agree u cant do that to gief, but again i’m talking about hawk… u know, the native character.
I think that might just happen if it’s a move that’s airborne at the time.
Versus Dictator, I use j.d+strong when I attempt safe-jumps. Some Dictators would walk forward eating the jump attack, so you cross him up and he gets some throw attempts with his strong and fierce throw, unless you do 2 x cr.jab. I don’t know how much people use his new reversal move.
You gotta have some fine ticks against Dictators since he has a good throw range, don’t get sloppy, always use 2 x cr.jab, st.forward or cr.strong after a cross-up, unless he doesn’t block the cross-up, then try some fancy combo.
Versus opponents that are difficult to safe-jump against, use a meaty cr.strong on wake-up and attempt a Typhoon once in a while to keep them guessing when to reversal ( In ST attempt the Typhoon at ALL times). This worked wonders in ST especially versus Boxer.
In ST some Boxers would eat the j.jab standing, which means if you hit too early you can’t combo in a cr.jab so the Boxer would throw you (don’t know about HD Remix, since Boxers range is nerfed)
Roundhouse Throw:
Walk under meaty cr.strong or Mayakon uses cross-up -> cr.strong -> Typhoon attempt (this combo requires precise timing).
I didnt say just gief. I said hawk can 360 out of meaties. Learn to read buddy
You really are completely insane if you think you cant 360 out of meaties. I can argue this because ive 360’d people plenty of times when theyve tried meaty attacks. Again, this is why you DONT GET CLOSE to hawk as hes waking up [happy i didnt say gief this time too?]. The only moves that people could do as a meaty that you couldnt 360 out of would be something like fei’s f.rh fei’s f.mk, guiles f.rh, etc any kind of move that is airborne
If I understand this right the cr.fierce hits the “wrong” way but does still connect to the opponent?
EDIT: Nevermind just tested it, hitting the “wrong” way with cr.fierce only works versus crouching Blanka after a cross-up, that lands you facing the “wrong” way.
^^^ i could have sworn i tried that cr.hp cross up thing on a shoto and it hit backwards still. But its been a few months since i tried that.
but back to this meaty thing:
i got stuffed by ryu’s cr.mk on my wake up, and i sure as hell know u can throw that poke.
ive played this game enough to know when a normal poke is throwable or not.
y dont u try it then.
use guile and put hawk in the corner. Hit hawk with a flash kick, then do a jab sonic boom and stand there so your within range to get 360’d.
Do a reversal 360 wit hawk, which it will say REVERSAL yet u still eat the fireball. That sure dont work wit gief cause he’ll just grab guile as the sonic boom goes through him.
You come off as a ass in alot of your posts, not everyone is T.Hawk and ST expert, keep in mind some people are just learning. As for meaties, I never met anyone who could consistently 360 my fei’s meaty hp, not even 10% of the time. And I been to dozens of tournaments, with respectable/good players.
so everyone thats new to this game is dumb? great fuckin logic.
since when did you become the supreme authority on t hawk? being the one of the few hawk players don’t mean shit.
im not trying to come off as an ass. my bad everyone whos sensitive. how was i suppose to know he was new to the game [if he is]? the only posts ive seen from him have been on this page [12].
raging - yeah feis meaty is really hard to reversal. but it wasnt about just that, i only said that because i think everyone knows about feis ridiculous meaties. ive done that a few times but the risk/reward isnt in hawks favor.
ive done things like 360 through a boom when a guile or ryu or anyone with a projectile is that close. its just hard. thats something that isnt really in hawks favor to try and attempt and guile would never bother getting that close anyways in a real match so its moot to learn to reversal that. try doing something like shoto cr.mp or a meaty slide from sim or a meaty cr.mk from gief. its tough but you can do it.
im not acting like some supreme authority on hawk but i do know what the fuck im talking about. if you dont want me to post up shit about hawk anymore, feel free to let me know and i gladly wont. the way he posts doesnt seem like hes new at all, plus hes from 02
lol wo wo peeps its all good.
we just had a disagreement on meaties.
I still dont believe u can reversal out of them cause ive failed multiple times trying it despite it being a reversal and them not being off the ground and within range. But if u say u can do it, then its all good. I would try it out on training mode right now except i wont be next to any console for the next 6wks…
but answer me this then. U do know that hawk does have a 1 frame start up on his 360 right??? And if thats the case, its only common sense to see that a meaty attack hits on the 1st frame meaning your 360 wont come out till frame #2, hence y ive been stuffed. But perhaps this logic is incorrect.
Like u i dont think its worth attempting to reversal through meaties cause it’ll usually = gg if u miss. And no i’m not new at all. Its too bad u dont play on psx cause i could really use a challenge.
no beef
im a good thawk player
and im better than moe
effin noob
Moe, whether you believe it or not, you should still practice landing meaty reversals. It’s a needed tool for Hawk. If you can’t land on meaties people will mix you up to death with no fear of reversals, cause Hawks DP isn’t really pumping fear into any good players hearts on wake up. It trades too much just for starters.
Not arguing your point, just saying I would recommend practicing it if you plan to play Hawk more than casually.
On another note…anyone here experiencing odd cross-ups on dives with certain characters? Happens when I am fighting Blanka quite a bit. I thought it might have something to do with the online lag but just wanted to run it by the forums to see if anyone has had it happen or knows how to get it 100%…could be useful for mix ups but might not due to landing time.
Also, gg’s the other night Gridman…yer Hawks a beast.
Im glad the person who I apparently was being “an ass” to realized that I wasnt really being an ass. I dont know hawks frame data on his 360 but I can tell you that tomorrow after I get home from class, I will definitely goof around with it and try to see if you cant 360 out of meaties. I’m nearly positive you can because i swear ive done it before. But, if it turns out im wrong, im always open to learning new things and will gladly admit it. Im actually kind of amazed that no one else has butted in and agreed or disagreed with either you or me.
too bad about the PSN though. i was playing on one at a buddies house the other day and I noticed that the sound seemed awfully different and there was a little problem with a stick and his converter. the converter actually seemed to be missing inputs. for example if you mashed jab [i didnt use two fingers for this to be sure, i actually used both hands to test it out], it wouldnt be rapid fire and would drop every few or so.
jedi - when you get your stick all set up and everything, send me a holler. you’re already good without a stick [amazingly] so i cant wait to see you with one.
Press random buttons until they die. If they get close 360, then press more random buttons. Except fierce, don’t press that.
Seriously.
Hawk’s stand strong, low strong, low forward, probably stand forward, jabs, stand roundhouse, low roundhouse, all have a good chance of stuffing rushes, just don’t get too predictable with them. If you vary the timing it’s extremely difficult for Balrog to rush through them and even trade.
You can 360 meaties, just has to be a reversal, and reversals aren’t easy.
Yeah I am pretty sure you can reversal meaty moves. If that is possible then by definition T/Hawks 360 is 0 frame start up. If it had 1 frame it would get hit every time which is obviously not the case. I could be wrong and I will investigate further but I am pretty sure that is the case.
On another note, anyone besides me trying to safe reversal meaties? it works for me, (another reason that I suspect the 360 of having 0 frame start up) I am negative edging 360’s on wake up ending in back or down back to option select the best outcome. Unless they jump or DP/flame kick/ etc, you either get reversal 360 or block.
you should get a throw wiff now and get nailed, unless theres a glitch or something with it. That’d be pretty funny if Hawks throw wiff didn’t come out on the first frame and let you block.
guiles f.rh isn’t airborne. you can 360 him out of it
I am not sure that is correct. If the 360 has zero frame start up, unless you are doing a move that is considered air based,(jumping or flagged as “in air” IE f.forward with Fei) and you are in 360 range, the invincibility frames in the 360 will go through the meaty attack and the 360 would grab the character out of there move. Hence, reversal 360. The whiff animation would never play because a whiff never occurred. The opponent meets all the requirements for being thrown by the 360. The whiff only occurs when Hawk is out of range or when the opponent is not in a special throw-able state. The block would only occur if input was incorrectly executed. Nothing would happen cause the motion was not completed so the negative edge would result in nothing defaulting to the next available action which is blocking. (seeing as that is the last direction being held.)
This technique is not a catch all for meaty attacks, It can’t be used against jump-ins for instance, but more of a safe technique for ground based meaty attacks.
I could be wrong but this is what I gather…
Again this is all based on the idea that the 360 is in fact a zero frame start up move, which to my knowledge, seems to be the case. If that is not the case you can default to safe reversal of the SRK which certainly has zero frame start and invincibility and can be executed as a safe reversal.
Is all this input worth the reward, yes and no. The safe reversal SRK is hard to do, but if you can get it right every time, then you negate some of the advantage of the meaty attack. If you successfully get the knockdown wake up shinanigans ensue. if you don’t, you block and try not to get tricked into silly stuff.
