Anyway, Crackfiend is right, you play on what’s there. Some people were complaining about the layouts at SFSU, but we had to use that shit anyway. This is no different. And muga regulars having an advantage because they’re used to it…I don’t really buy too much into that, but I suppose you could make an argument that it’s a little like basketball, someone invites you to play in their gym, they’re gonna be more familiar with it than you are. Either way, you gotta adapt and win anyway.
Oh and, this is a little nitpicky but I suggest you take “Evo rules” out of the tourney’s description, since console characters aren’t allowed, and that’s probably one of the biggest rules in play at Evo…just to avoid any further confusion. Maybe change that to “SBO rules” instead?
All that said, sounds like a hype tourney! Teams are always fun
I went to the SFSU tourney a while back and disliked everyone of their setups(barring CvS2) I kept missing my assist in Marvel because of the way buttons were spaced. But hey, it happens, it was their setup. It has always been part of the --Arcade-- experience.
Stop trying to make this into a silly conspiracy. I assure you; the success of the MUGA regulars does not hinge on using Korean sticks.
Understood. Joysticks are a personal thing. There are too many different types of sticks and gates to please everyone.
I had one complaint the whole day about sticks (and that was on Marvel, which I couldn’t change due to lack of spare parts). If people feel the need to complain, complain to the right people. Regardless, I’ll throw in a new set of Fanta’s prior to the next tourney.
Marty will oblige…
Who wants to hit up the Davis bars after the tourney?
You just don’t get it do you . We don’t care if you prefer your octo gate sanwa or dodecahedron gate seimitsu, you play on what setup is open. You can whine and complain and argue about fairness all day. It won’t make a difference. If you are so handicapped by your inability to use any other stick than yours, don’t sign up.
korea: it’s ‘bryan’ scrub. haven’t you been playing tekken since you were 3 months old?
rest of people: i understand the “it’s our arcade so our rules or stfu” attitude, but there are much nicer ways to say it than being assholes about it.
just present your logical argument and refer people to it… if i went to davis for games, i’m going there to play the players… not the sticks. we aren’t in the 1990’s anymore. we don’t HAVE to play on shitty sticks when we go to the venues and it is a fair opinion to voice usage of consoles (and the characters).
so far the argument i’ve heard is:
we want finals on the arcade machine so no console characters
we want to save time so you play on what the fuck we tell you to
if someone wants to argue against it, just quote the above and be done with it. you don’t have to make fun of people and call them fucking scrubs for not knowing how to play on 30291 different types of sticks.
on a related note, IF the tournament runs earlier than expected and are ahead of schedule, then are you willing to bend the rule regarding preference of machine?
We are more then happy to listen to constructive arguments for why or why not some rules should or should not be stated. We just get annoyed when people go about doing this the wrong way. Starting off a post with the word retarded is not the way to go about doing it. It’s understandable that you don’t enjoy every type of stick but the way people go about complaining about it just gets on our nerves. The korean fanta’s aren’t even that bad and are pretty much just happs with a looser spring.
If time is on track, we’d probably be down for some setup lenience, especially if you’re nice about it. But, if you’re a douche bag with an inferiority complex, gl w/ that. 09, what a surprise .
And again, in all truth, if you suck with a console character, nobody, not muga players, not alaska players, will give a shit if you complain about an arcade only setup. If sabre from arizona walked in and said guys, I’m a consistent tournament top 10% player who needs the console character (sakura), your argument would definitely be valid. But if you’re arguing for a console setup solely so that lpn can beat your ass down with the character you prefer, it’s not going to happen. (hypothetical situations ftw)
Is LB that korean dude at SFSU that looked hella angry:lol: that sean kept saying looked like daigo? Think it is.
