and wtf i look angry?!?!?!??!?! i’m such a nice guy with a pure and innocent heart.
<3 all
no console characters? thats very upsetting :[
i was planning on going to this now im not to sure.
Guys let’s all be friends and play Street Fighter together plz <3 (msg does not apply to whore Anthony).
And to people coming from out of town - I will do my best to seperate you guys in the bracket so you don’t have to play each other. Note that it gets hard and time consuming and infuriating when you’re trying to fix brackets and people are constantly in your face asking ridiculous questions (“Am I on the bracket?” “Dude I’ve had you on the list for the last hour, nothing has changed.” “So… I’m in the tournament right?” RAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE)
But yeah, I will personally guarantee that if you let me know before hand who your buddies are you WILL NOT play each other first round and hopefully not second round, but it gets tough at that point, especially when the bracket creation is the only thing holding the tourney back from starting and people start stressing.
A word on the sticks and whatever, please don’t try to take us as enforcing the cabinet usage as trying to play favorites for Davis locals. None of us in Davis has ever had favoritism/“homecourt advantages” as an underlying intention and it saddens me knowing that people may be thinking that it might be an ulterior motive. The UCD MUGA has put in a ton of cash getting us this cabinet so we could play months before the console release. We would be slapping them in the face to hold a tourney at their venue and be playing on dainty CRT’s when the really, really nice arcade set up is 10 feet away.
If I always had my way, I would be playing on my Dino-stick at every tourney forever.
:lovin:
:lovin:
that stick is tite jack i remember playing on it at tyram place and laughing cause i had a dinosaurs under my hand
all i have to say whore-jack, is wow. just wow. i hope you you get raped at this tourney <333
After making the brackets, I suggest we randomly assign the set bracket to a console/arcade machine (the machines could be labeled 1,2,3, and 4).
<3 <3
That could work. Problems might come up if some matches take longer than others and things get a little unbalanced though. If we could get an LCD somewhere in plain-view we can do an on-deck thing and whoever is next goes to whatever is open.
LB, I still think you look like Daigo. Derail thread. Derail thread. Derail thread. Etc.
lbaigo!
Okay, so for clarification, each team member only plays 1 match with 2/3 rounds. And you must sign up with a character and stay with it throughout? Is switching the team order between matches allowed? do both teams have to choose a team order before a match? or can it be decided at the time of team member 1’s defeat?
Okay, talked to Matt today. Here’s what’s up. Basically, we’re running it the same way SBO does it.
- You must play the same character throughout the entire tourney.
- You may change the order between matches.
- We are taking measures in an attempt to minimize counter-picking advantages in the first match. There’s two ways we thought of doing this, so you’re free to pick whichever one you like.
- You each secretly tell a neutral third party your lead. After both teams have reported, third party just makes sure that they keep to their word.
- Team A writes down their lead on a piece of paper. Team B tells team A their lead player. The player from Team B plays the name on the piece of paper from Team A.
- After the first player shenanigans are dealt with, the teams may put up whomever they like in any order.
This is not set in stone; this is just what we came up with in a short chat. If you see any glaring flaws in this logic feel free to let us know.
Feel free to shoot my idea down (for I have never been to this type of event):
I like choice (1) where both teams select their first player. Once a team loses they are able to freely select who goes up next; as opposed to player x is first, player y has to be 2nd, and player z has to be 3rd. This more reflects a singles tournament were each player selects their main character and upon loosing may select a counter-pick.
Again I have never done this nor do I know sbo rules. This just seems logical to me. hides in fear of the fairness fairy
I might be going to SBO Quals instead for this tourney T_T
SBO rules:
- player may not change characters throughout tourney
- team may change player order between matches
- team may decide player order as the match progresses
- double-blind selection for first player
double blind penetration.
