Funny how El Fuerte “infinite” (that no one can do) is banned, yet Akuma s.rh->c.jab->short HK–>fierce DP for 40% damage is A.O.K. I wonder who has been feeding the tournament organizers their information?
Are you going to ban Bison’s crossup j.fwd->c.fwd->psycho crusher (dizzy), j.rh->s.short->c.fwd->psycho crusher 100% combo in HDR, also? Because that combo is a hell of a lot easier to land and execute than Fuerte’s “infinite” (that no one can do).
Also:
…the f*ck? $8 of every entry is going to whom, exactly?
I think you should be upfront with that info from the start… 20% is 3 dollars / 4 if you enter both events.
I’d like to support the sac game scene and wouldn’t care if it was a gaming club @ Sac State or ARC, but I can’t support Sama hang pilipino. I have way too many friends who were members and have quit due to reasons I won’t mention here.
I use to run a gaming club sponsored through the Union gameroom. It went inactive after I graduated, but I would rather see it get active and/or a new game club on campus get started. I wouldn’t mind supporting that.
yeah the el fuerte thing being banned I have no control over but for HD I mean come on akuma is banned at evo so i chose to have him banned at this tourney.
tanks for the info bro.
you are right and now the info is out and people still have a few days to figure out if they want to come or not. This tourney was not even easy to get started. I’ve been living up here in Sac for about a year now and geting a place to let you host cost’s a hell of a lot of money. We are talking like payed by the hour shit. I think that this is a pretty cheap deal compared to what other locations would have charged but I do not have the figures to prove this.
I just want to help out the Sac scene guys. Some of you like the idea of tourneys and shit so all i can do is set em up and play in em and shit.
hope you can change your mind though.
When you say “you have no control over it,” do you mean that you did NOT inform the store’s management of its existence?
Or are they just such hardcore SF4 players that they already knew about it?
Also: who is sama hang pilipino and why are they getting $8 of every entry fee?
I am curious about this as well.
Thank you for breaking it down, though.
This does partially answer my question. I knew the place that was hosting weren’t going to charge so much out of nowhere when they haven’t before. This does make me very curious why this is “fund raising” for your group. If you could break down even further why the money needs to go to them, then I will be happy to support it.
And Tyram, there was no need to have that outburst at my post directly if you were addressing the Venue fee, considering others have had questions about it as well.
I didn’t ever call you a noob host. I had my reasons for asking.
That was unecessary
EDIT:
And to expand on this post,
I agree, so why aren’t we giving them ALL the venue fee. If you are going to justify the venue being that high, give it ALL to them. I wouldn’ mind doing that because I KNOW the place and have been there for other tournaments. Only giving them 20% of the venue while also stating the sentence above seems really off.
Who is the club and why should we be giving htem 8 dollars? What is so important about them to be getting it? I don’t think that is fair at all to the venue, especially if you are trying to have us come for the reason I quoted you saying above.
I will be going, but I really really do not like the idea of them only getting two bucks per while some club that has no relevance gets 8.
I don’t know who is going to pay sama hang pilipino $8 to enter a $5 street fighter tournament but people are entitled to do as they wish with their money. The only real winners here are sama hang pilipino because they will get more $ than any tournament winner at this event.
So we are clear only 2 dollars from the venue fee is going to the actual venue? And the other 8…? Unless that 8 is going to complementary beer and chicken for the competitors, count me out.
Anyone? This is an important question.
I think Samahang Pilipino is a Filipino culture club. My wife is Filipino, so ill ask her.
I guess whoever is running this tourney is for the Filipino community in Sac.
Flip-mode squad is dangerous!
its a culture club at sac state i think.
Well, it’s really the 2nd part…not the “who is,” so much as the “why are…”
In the thread Ram says its for a fund raiser that they are doing.
SP is really just a social club. We most likely will be paying for their next ski trip or pizza party.
I have a Filipino bro-in-law thats in SF, he tells me they just go out and hang.
$10 entry for a $5 tournament is beyond silly. Door charges should only be used when the player is getting something out of it - special events, food / drink, perhaps a massive setup like an event hall or something like the majors. If they wanted to make some money off the tournament, then 20% of the entry fees, in this case$1 for every entry fee, is generally accepted as standard and fair in my experience with these things. Asking for a door charge in this instance is crazy.
The ban rules also make no sense - what if I ‘run stop fierce’ only once? Twice? When is it the infinite? What if I use it as a mixup? Why ban Seth or Gouken anyways?
Finally, why should that group make out with more money than any tournament winner? This isn’t a fundraiser that means anything to our community - I’d pay that money to send someone to SBO or EVO, but some random group getting that much of my money? Forget it. There’s a difference between turning a profit as a business and exploitation.
The first post of this thread needs to be updated with much more open and honest information about where that money is going. I think this is shady as hell, and poor rules (for SF4) to add on to it. No area needs a tournament like this.
Maybe if Ram will give us a reason why they are trying to suck money away from people who arent interested in their organization… then I will listen.
Im still going. The competition will still be fun.
AND I CAN USE MY ANGER TO FUEL MY PATH OF DESTRUCTION!!!:arazz:
Well played fine sirs, raising money for community members is awesome!
I’m currently trying to raise money to bring Dawn Kabaus to the states. She is currently the SF4 champion in Ajerbijan. She is holds a current record of 164 wins in a row on xbox live. In order to get her here by this weeked we need to act fast!
I will be accepting donations at the door of this event as well, due to me not expecting to raise enough money by this weekend. Please bring small bills! If you are willing to give to the Filipino community money, then please help us get her over here. We only need 5$ a person to get her here!
I will be accepting money orders as well, gold bullion will be accepted. Pm me please with details!
Thanks for your support and keep the SF4 community alive!
