3s is better than sf4 period

This definately deserves to be in the Strategy forums?

I would say the execution for moves is much harder in 3s. And I say this because for most characters they have far more moves than they do in ST. There’s more combos, more links, and most supers need hit confirming. The basic moves in 3s are easier but the high level of play execution requirements are sickening…Example kens kara SRK, Gouki’s true kara demon… Yun’s Keeper jin. SggK. red parrying. c.mk hit confirming (almost impossible on some characters). To get good at 3s you don’t need to know these moves, but if you want to be “really” good you kind of needs these tricks up your sleeve.

ST although the basic moves have harder inputs. it’s not to the level where you need to do lets say 7 inputs in less than 1 second. Which basically what you need for a true kara demon.

Linking is hard to do in SF4. Third Strike is easy, as shit. It’s just that Third Strike isn’t a masher.

sf4 is had to link man, i cant even do cr.lp into 3 reka kens.

SF4 characters look like Pez dispensers.

Yup, the ones that aren’t worth collecting

so i had sf4 for a week now(pc). does anything feel the game is a lil slow? dunno if it just me used to 3s.
i swear when u do shoryukens, it like never comes out the moment u do it and u get kicked in the face, its like delayed or something.
i thought they said 3s was too hard and they wanted to make sf4 more casual friendly, these links r crazy hard, and require tons of practice to do shit like linking a medium atk after 1 or 2 light atks, 1 frame links wtf. nvr had this problem in 3s. i used to play yun in 3s, yun genei-jin combo’s r kids stuff compared to these links in sf4.
this one probably nitpicking but, i think the moves that have animations that like change the camera angles and shit r distracting, or some moves animations r just too long, its feel like delay of game. shit like zangiefs spd, move takes up like 1 minute. (edit: guess this was a bit in 3s, like yun’s geneijin, ur just being combo’d for an hour and u cant do shit about it)
as u can guess, i am terrible at this game, maybe when i get better i’ll have less complaints

the more i play it the more i like it enough for all of its flaws to not bother me much…but i still hate the fact that i cant do cr.lp into 3 rekkas or even worse jumping hk hp into 3 rekkas.

and cr.mk into super is freagin impossible.

I change my mind, TS owns the fuck out of SF4.

I think street fighter 4 is fun in small doses but nothing I see in street fighter 4 really amazes me because everyone hits up the same combos repeatedly

Also kind of reminds me of st or maybe cvs2 except underwater

yeah, i’ve gone back to 3s
i don’t know why really…i guess i’m too impatient for sf4

i’ll come back to sf4 when i have a different mindset

I like both 3s and SF4. SF4 has great balance overall while 3s’s gameplay is so dynamic.

Saw the japanese 3 vs 3 on acho today. Brought back good memories of 3s. Games were incredibly fast pace and quick. Each 3v3 played out to the final match would fit on 1 youtube clip. That’s how fast it was. Some incredible comebacks too, but that’s to be expected from 3s with its parries and mixups.

In the recent Arcadia magazine, other than SF4, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike was the only Street Fighter in the top 10 arcade! Folks, this is a 10 year old game and it is still hanging strong. It’s the oldest game on that list. Unless Japanese don’t know what’s good, 3s is the most popular classic in the land of the rising sun.

Not to mention that 3S is the only old SF at SBO. NOT ST, NOT CVS2, NOT ALPHA. Haters can suck it

3s has WAYYYY more replay value than SFIV

3s is the king of fighting games… PERIOD.

The combos, skill, attention to detail it’s the prime capcom fighting game, will probably have a cult following forever. SFIV will be soon forgotten.

for me it’s: 3s, A3, SSFII, SFII… SFIV

well looks like this thread is still going. i haven’t played 3s in about a month but i’m thinking of coming back because of all the stupid frustrating input shit in sf4. for some reason cr.jab xx cr.jab xx into special is not possible unless you link into the special. the fuck were they smoking when they thought of putting this into the game?

“let’s make the game easier to play. ok, in order to do that we’ll add in a bunch of one frame links, input shortcuts that get in the way, and while we’re at it, let’s make it so if you decide to combo two normals you can’t cancel into a special. that way no one can hit confirm anything! high five me.”

I was thinkin about getting back into SFIV because it’s $20 now.

Nah, fuck that

Are you serious? Ever heard of crouching forward into super? How about Genei Jin?

Letting SBO (and Japan) decide which game you play is a cheap way out. Just because they didn’t put a game in every SBO doesn’t mean that it sucks. Yes, 3S transcends all others, but it doesn’t mean that all others are unplayable. You’re just making up an excuse to like SFIV less and 3S more.

The only legitimate points so far.

QUIT JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON AND FINDING BULLSHIT REASONS TO HATE SFIV!

sf4 and 3s are 2 very diffrent games…so none is better then the other.

cant say its bad just cause the system is difrent…all the SFs have a difrent system, just get used to it.

I have better question. Do you think 3S has a good chance for staying at SBO a few more years after this year? Or what is your opinion on its situation.

That’s a good question. Based on the evidence, there doesn’t appear to be any real pattern. I think a major event has to happen (K.O wins, a foreign team gets top three, etc.) and then either the game will get a jolt of new energy or just fade away. It seems like the past few years the game has just been flowing through SBO. But last year with Kuroda things got interesting and that probably gave the game a big jolt. Either way, people will still love and play the game to death. It’s just a decision of whether or not to keep it in SBO.

I’m not a pro on this subject so all I can really say is that we can’t fully grasp how Japan feels about this game.
