the thing with ibuki is her low stamina and one of her main strength’s is playing in your face making more risk of counter attack towards her…and she was toned downed from the last versions of sf3… and also she doesn’t have solid cancellable low attack… imo…
all she really needs is c.short xx raida up close. or c.short xx dash special
ibuki is too hard to use for a lot of people to just pick up. you have to really want to play her in the first place. and not get frustrated when you lose, because you will be a lot.
ibuki has short short super
No, I mean she takes a lot of skill to use.
She isnt the best, but she is petty good. She dosent suck or anything. She is really fast and has a lot of confusing mix ups. She can also stun you pretty quick if you are not careful.
A lot of her stuff is different and good. Many of her chains are great for keeping people on lock down and punishing people who try to parry too much. Her dash cancels can lead to a lot of different options for her as well.
I think the thing is you have probably never seen Ibuki played well, so I understand where you are coming from. I just wish your post wasnt so condescending because it hurts my feelings.
Also, I think Thongboy has done some excellent work for this small 3s community we have here in the states. Aside from his videos, he has posted some very informative things here on the forum (except for that necro slam dance thing. What a waste of bandwith.)
On the same token, I think paul lee’s avatar is cool and if I was new to the forums I would consider stealing it and making it my own even though my screen name wouldnt be paul lee by any stretch of the imagination.
here were i play ibuki’s chains get red parried… lol
yea that sucks, I saw it in japanese vids and I was like… OK… so no more Ibuki for me, this brings away her whole guessing game its all red-parry, throw, and if she doesnt do any attack after it, its just throw. bah
cancel that shit into ex uppercut…ibuki’s one of the few characters who has a really good priority uppercut that’s free on wakeup or whenever u feel like tossing it out.
I wanna see ibuki get red parried, someone get on irc and send some. Heck i like seeing anyone get red parried, maybe i just like red and am going through withdraw since all the v-day hearts got taken down.
ibukis good in 3s, very good in pre-3s versions that is 2I. the only problem i find is her low defense. maybe she should have Q taunts then more people would pick her.
can any give me a site were i can download some yun combo vids
I agree with True Tech that the top tier list is roughly Yun, Ken, and then Chun, but maybe I’m just clueless about how to deal w/ some players’ tactics, and I’m basing too much on PyroLee often being considered the best player in the country. Yun has Genei-Jin a LOT of the time during the match, of course, and you can’t even do wake-up supers against it, as far as I know. He can tick you w/ low short and then go for his command grab into Genei-Jin if you block, which is REALLY hard to escape; even though you KNOW he’s going to do that. If you don’t block, Yun can do low short into the “Palm Push” or Kobokushi, which is comboable/bufferable (whatever) in GJ “mode”, and then juggle you to the corner. After the meter ends, he can keep juggling to build meter, then run away, and he’s already got HALF his little meter back. I’d SWEAR that I saw some Yun players practically do 2 GJ juggle combos in a row.
Chun is the scrubbiest character in the game, imo, but she’s mostly about buffering low forward or st. fierce into super, and that’s about all she does. She’s not threatening w/ meter, which Yun has a LOT of the time. Ken is MUCH more versatile than Chun, and doesn’t his low forward outrange Chun’s, or is it just timing? I went back and forth trying to out-low-forward this guy Ernest from UCLA when he was using Ken, and I couldn’t hit him w/ Ken, but I SUCK so bad at using the “top tier” ~Nick
Hey Gaijinblaze! I used to say the SAME thing: that Alex should teach that blonde poser bastard who’s cooler.
This is off-topic, but I’m glad to see ppl ranking Alex lower these days, cos I think Alex SUCKS. He’s still my best character, perhaps, but I do better against Pyro and Vic w/ Hugo. Alex has FEW TRICKS, and that’s a BIG disadvantage in THIS game. I think Hugo just has some CRAP matchups.
'DAMN: the UCLA student union is closing, but I’ll be back later…
Right now, I’m doing low jab, Boomerang Raid, and trying to throw off air-parries w/ st. Strong, reg. or EX air-knee grab. Alex’s Powerbomb SUCKS, and so do most of his specials, cos they have limited uses. 'Now I’m out :P…
Maybe the fact that there is such a long debate means there’s no real tier list? Btw, you can’t air attack shotos that easily, it’s either you attack and get a shoryuken up your ass OR you don’t do anything assuming he’s gonna shoryuken and you get throw’n as soon as you land. In either case ken has always the option to dash back and fireball or roundhouse.
There are real tiers…Stop trying to confuse people.

Im pretty sure alex’s super (sa2) goes through genei on wake up.
I could be wrong, but Al’s sa2 wakeup priority is pretty high
for those who dont know already. :badboy:
Almost every super will go through GJ on wakeup, it has no invince properties except on start up, and you cant attack during those frames anyway.
thats a guess that the ibuki player would have to take because if ur rushing and the opponent red parries the only way u could really anticipate that is if you know your opponent is gonna red parry… plus another red parry bait that i use to ibuki players is after a jump in the average ibuki will do st.jab into chains… so after a jump attack i red parry the jab and punish…
Geneijin gives yun extra priority so he is able to beat or trade with many supers. I’ve seen his cr.Short beat the Shippu clean.
