I hate the Ken Mak match-up. I do feel that a good Ken has a better tool set than a good Mak. I’m certain that Ken is a better character than Mak cuz he can just throw shit out there and not have to hold any qualms about doing so because he has an answer to all of Makoto’s reactions. I do think that people need to reconsider the quality of Akuma more. I know he’s got stamina issues, but honestly, I fear a great Akuma more than a great Ken. He’s probably the most underrated character in the game (but I guess his ranking is warranted because the 6 characters above him are pretty amazing in their own right). I do think Dudley is a little overrated though, at least at an intermediate level.
honestly I just fear great players in general, doesnt matter the character.
I do feel comfortable playing against shotos most of the time though.

Ken feels less threatening to me personally. I’ll lose to a good Ken like I’ll lose to a good anyone else, but overall Ken just seems less scary than Yun Chun and Makoto. Dudley Ken and Urien all feel about the same difficulty in matchup for me.
many people think that way! there are certainly less ken specialists these days than there used to be. hes probably taken the biggest hit in popularity of the “top 3”

I feel like Yun’s taken a dive lately in terms of top tier popularity, and Ken has risen up a little…then again, I could be thinking of just like four really solid Ken players. 
I’ll agree that Ken doesn’t seem “as threatening” since he is more about consistency than a huge immediate payoff like most of the other characters. There are a lot of Ken players out there, but a good 90% of them in the whole world are shitty(this includes Japan).
I’m afraid that everyone in this thread are wrong. THIS is the best game ever made. You need balls of steel to play this game at high level because every combo is pretty much a ToD and crossups are REALLY fuckin brutal.
Lol, Orc vs human hasn’t been tower rush gay since Swain retired a second time. That shit is what got Sky through early WEG’s. When people realized all you need a level 3 Blademaster before human gets tier 2 and you just apply pressure to the human player it got fucked over, and fucked over hard. If they don’t get a level 3 AM it’s even easier because they don’t have fucking water tauren that you need to have dispel for. Obviously it’s not that simple and goes from game to game, but seriously man it’s pretty easy to stop tower rushes.
On a 3S related note and tiers… Akuma is da bes, we all know this. Kuroda said so, and he is teh God of dis gayme.
I don’t disrespect any character in 3S. People seem to forget that those Chun/Yun/Ken teams were great fucking players too, or the fact all 3 are extremely fun to play and can be played vastly differently.
tier two tower push is still standard in Orc vs Human. recent major tournaments people were still running it, and Grubby lamented while looking back at WC3 after retiring that one of the last few patches sort of froze the metagame and that he never really found an answer for a well executed tower push. something like “it was frustrating that I knew exactly what was coming and built my entire gameplan around stopping it and still lost to it.” it’s in one of his WC3 commentaries on Youtube.
if you follow WC3 it’s still one of the main strategies in Orc vs Human, depending on the map. tier 2 tower push or fast expand + tower up + mass air + tri hero are the two big ones for Human in that matchup.

Hmmm… This is a very good fighter. Just not a particularly balanced one. Though, many issues in match ups can be dealt with if the player is able to parry and possess good reaction time to win. What should be noted is that parry is arguably the reason why a lot of people play this game. It is such a good idea and it is a universal concept to every character, should they be used correctly.
The balance in this game is a bit silly however - Yun, Ken, and Chun are pretty nice compared to many others, but this might be easily subjective if a player using other characters SERIOUSLY know what they are doing, even if they are using a lower tier character.

This video here provides evidence that anything can happen… as long as it is not a freakin’ joke tier character. Sirlin… points out that balance is a tough issue to deal with and he prefers if all fighting games had a 6/4 limit to balance to avoid “god tiers” and “joke tier” characters. 3S may not be well balanced - but the game mechanics in themselves give all characters the chance to put up a valiant fight.
Which makes it the worst game ever. Fuck long combos.

Damn man play the game for a change instead of watching evo vids 24/7. To the people who said light attacks are useless I disagree. They can be used as feints, set ups for tick throws, set ups for footsies etc. You see my uneducated 3s haters this is one of the reasons why 3s is such a beast of a game.
Nothing in this game and I mean nothing, no strategy, no hit, no combo NOTHING is useless. You can play this game how ever you like. You can troll, you can be defensive, you can be offensive or heck you can even mix up all the styles in a big mess and still be successful if you have the skills.
Have you tried playing a fighting game without thinking that “balanced game = less effort required to be sick at it”?
