Just want to here some peoples opinions on this. Just a friendly discussion.
3S is… but one of the best fighters ever.
3rd Strike is a good game.
Super Turbo is the best game.
Yes it is.
And the sky is blue. What’s your point?
this shouldnt be a question
Well it’s awesome to see some people have sense! I’ve been reading online about how tekken and all these other scrub games destroy 3rd strike. I’d like to see those scrubs try to play some 3rd strike or guilty gear and get owned. O and by the way ST is def 1 of the best fighting games ever for sho!_
Its my favorite, but itd be hard for me to be so bold as to say its the best
Shut up, you’re embarassing 3s players.
3rd Strike is hands down the best 2D Fighter in my book, with CvS2 being close second.
The parry feature is a huge scrub killer. You don’t see the same blockstrings being repeated over and over again because it’s punishable. Basically, everything you knew was safe is not necessarily safe anymore. In SSFIV, you see (obvious) tick throws being incredibly dangerous, (obvious) frametraps that leave you turtling, (obvious) mixups that can only be blocked, (obvious) safejumps and especially redundant (obvious) blockstrings, OBVIOUS I TELLZ YA!
Scrubs (like me) memorize a certain set of safe moves, patterns, and go with that. Characters are as important as ever and counterpicking is vital. In 3S? Not really, if you’re better than your opponent and he picks a better character, do not fret! Looking at Kuroda & Hayao owning top Chuns and the likes is enough of a proof. No matter which character Kuroda picked, he kicked asses (at least, in all the videos I’ve seen.) The balance in that game is horrible, yet top players get to win with BOTTOM TIER characters, that must mean something. I mean, when was the last time you saw a Dan dominate a big tournament in SSFIV? Personally, I never did.
The most recent games do not reward the better players, they reward the lesser skilled ones. X-Factor, Ultras, etc… Are all comeback mechanics that require little to no effort to pull out. Parrying, on the other hand, is only going to be successful on a good player. One that knows the game’s mechanics. Sure, some of you could say: “But that goes both ways.” Yes it does, but not proportionally. No matter how you look at it, if that specific ultra does 500 damage if it hits. It’ll do 500 damage. As for x-Factor, yes, it requires you to pull off a combo. Let’s say the lesser skilled player’s usual 20-hits 40% combo gets to 100% a character in X-factor, is it proportional to the better player’s usual 80-hits 80% that gets up to 100% in X-factor? It is. But in terms of who gets the most boost, it is definitely the first player because characters only have so much HP.
And yes, many (ignorant) people keep saying how ‘Parries break the game, you just need to parry everything!’ But it’s humanly impossible to do so. But it simply opens up the gap between hardcore vs. casual.
tl;dr - I fucking love 3rd Strike.
*note: I’m not bashing any game by the way. I just personally see something superior in 3rd Strike. Parrying is not for all games (it’s certainly too strict to consistently pull off in UMvC3, does not fit the game’s pace and the ratio of risk vs. reward is too big to even consider it a viable option at all times.)
CvS2 has various (unbalanced) grooves that made the game very unpredictable both in offense and defense. Characters with no overheads could suddenly because very aggressive (hops, air guard), different sorts of movements could complement the several different playstyles people have (running, dashing) and defensive options could greatly vary (parry, counter, roll dodge, spot dodge, etc.)
I just think that, although unpolished on the side of balance, these two games had a lot more interesting features than the current-gen fighters.
Who are these new people posting here?
I don’t care, I’m just glad they’re here. MOARE 3S BLOD!
this thread is going to quickly degenerate into a derp fest of trolling and flame wars. I can see it already. 3s is a great game however but the best? I don’t know.
Best SF game IMO.
Ironically, it will be because of posts like this (I’m not putting you down, I’m aware you have good intentions). Just let people have their opinion.
I personally find 3S to be the most engaging, deep and fun game I’ve ever played. I literally can not get enough of it and I don’t see myself ever not playing it. To me, everything about the game is perfect.
I hope to own a 3S cab one day.
3s is da besssssssssssssssss
swag swag swag swag swag
I think that MVC2 is the best game ever. Too much fun and required skill (despite the shitty balancing). However, its all up to opinion. There is no fact in these type of discussions. 3S is a great game for sure though.
I don’t get it 3rd strike is a good game but not everyone is gonna like it.you don’t need to make a shaft sucking thread because of it
third strike deserves its cock sucked 24/7, bitch.
