AFAIK, Weasel Shot’s better for Hiryu. Though I think Jam Session would still work since it’s a lockdown assist.
I figure as much. But I the hard part is giving Jam up which Chris Really needs as an Anti Air option for Weasel Shot… though I am willing to try it. Chris can still get work done with Weasel Shot. If they wanna jump that’s what Strider is for.
Still trying to figure how who works best on my Wesker/???/Strider team. It seems like Doom would work best with the least amount of work. But Dante would work better with elbow grease… Decisions decisions.
Try someone out of the believed top 20. Deadpool, Sentinel, Cap, Ironman, Tron, Storm… Most people will suggest Doom’s, Vergil’s, magneto’s… while those are great choices, it is too tier whoring and the success gap between tops to non-tops isn’t low. The non-tops have lower discovery, not every one is used to it - like builds.
Storm is a good 2nd character, provides a good horizontal/projectile assist, fits in with the THC stuff and she works well with both Strider and Wesker.
I would use one of those characters if they make sense. I won’t go out of my way to use top tier, but I won’t purposely use low tier in an attempt to “be different” or “not tier whore” as you say. Top 20 is like half the characters in the game. Not going to exclude them. Sorry!
Use Dante or vergil. So worth it

I’ve been messing with Dante and Doom. Vergil I tried but he is extremely boring to me so I excluded him.

I play strider on point alot and I like to switch to strider when im getting zoned out
I’m trying to get in to this game coming from SF4 but feel quite clueless at times. Right now I’m running Spencer/Hawkeye/Strider but I don’t really like or get how to play Hawkeye properly so I’m looking to replace him. I don’t really know what to put in the spot as I don’t want something to execution heavy as I’m very new to this type of fighting game.
I think either, Strider/Vergil/Magneto or Strider/Vergil/Hawkeye are the best point Strider teams. Any touch from Strider leads to an easy 1million damage, thanks to swords DHC. Also, Strider + Disruptor/TripleArrows is fucking cheap…
You basically wanna sit back and play lame but you want to play smartly. any time they jump you should be doing the multi arrow falling special move with strider to cover both and do chip. Utilize Standing B because of the range and cancel it to stay safe. Whatever you do stay mobile and keep arrows flying. Play aggressively and stay in control of the match. Watch how yipes plays him (even tho its on anchor). Also remember in Xfactor he gets the net arrow loop. Abuse that shit. Any stray standing H converts into instant death on the screen with this. If they up back while your in factor consider air throwing because u can net loop and combo off of it. With strider you can double gimlet without xfactor if you tiger knee it after poison shot. Strider should hit just after gimlet while they are in stun and then you can do it again. The great thing about that duo is strider can fight whoever hawkeye cant and his assist is fast enough to make his mixups really hard to block. The main weakness is they do HORRIBLE damage to gether without xfactor. or meter My suggestion is to have someone capable of giving you tons of meter or someone capable of finishing combos for them so they can get that damage. Hawkeye I guess doesnt necessarily need that since he will be in Xfactor3 and does mostly chip damage but you can be really flexible about placement with that duo. You can start strider in any position and hawkeye is best in the 2 but can be played in all the positions.
Strider/Doom/Ammy, Strider/Zero/Magneto, or Strider/Magneto/Dante have potential to be the best point Strider teams.
Is there are reason Strider/Vergil/magneto isn’t up there? I was thinking to myself I need a strider point team to keep my strider in practice. I can’t think of a reason that Vergil can’t fit Zero’s role as well, and Vergil/Mags work together wonderfully while Zero mags is not the greatest. Cant Vergil followup after raw tags?
That’s a good point, though people might prefer Vergil/Strider/Magneto more since Vajra benefits Vergil more than Rapid Slash benefiting Vergil.
Same argument applies to Zero.
The one thing strider has is much better ways to open people up than zero/Vergil alone do. He has access to wolverine style instant overheads on the whole cast, real teleport mixups, and safe pressure without burning meter. Every time I look at this character I say wow. It takes effort to recognize his problems are real. At the same time though I can’t help but wonder if we’ve learned the game enough to start solving them. We can ToD by DHC and tag combos. We’ve learned what assists can do for us. We need to solve his weird matchup issues.
Bah. I’m just picking up this team for Strider practice. Can’t take point Strider too serious. Otherwise we’d be having fun and we can’t have that.
That’s true. Strider is full of mayhem as DevilJin said at the tier thread. He really can do it all from all ranges. Yeah, I’m trying to practice Strider/Dorm/Doom (or maybe Strider/Doom/Dorm) and see what comes out of it since I am fascinated with Dormammu having both Hidden Missiles & Vajra at his disposal to control space.
I still think strider/Dante ws/ ? Pick an anchor is the best point setup. I still haven’t found the perfect anchor for this team unless I want to dump Virgil there.

I got tired of XF3+Orbs derp and started using Hiryu(Vajra)/Dormammu(Dark Hole)/Akuma(Tatsu) recently. Though Vajra doesn’t do much for Dormammu besides the generic AA, dat safe DHC with Legion to and from Stalking Flare is just golden. Akuma’s there for Tatsu (which helps both Dorm and Hiryu very well) and Gram raw tag combos for extra damage.
I think Vajra as a space controller for Dorm. Just like how JRosa uses Vajra to control space for his Morrigan. Though aren’t there any fun crossups you can do with Vajra and Mass Change?
