3 Tickets to Eurasia: Strider Team Building Thread

I have a team of Wolvie strider hawkeye and the only thing strider does for wolverine is keep the oppenents grounded so he can rushdown…and setups unblockables. Outside of that strider doesn nothing for wolverine. Wolverine gives strider a combo extender and a way to lock down oppenents during block strings to maintain pressure. Outside of these things they dont really give much for each other

Nova (centurion)/Sentinel (drones)/Strider (vajra) thoughts?

Hello, everyone!
I’m messing around with all the characters and I thought of a team like this: Hulk(Anti-air)/Strider(Vajra)/Dormammu(Dark Hole).
What do you guys think of that? I’m missing a beam assist, so I could get in with the characters, so maybe I’ll kick Dorm, but I just don’t know and I’d really appreciate some help! I’ve been doing pretty good with Banner right know and I really liked how Strider plays so, would you guys gimme a little hand here?

Alright, so I think I’ve found a team in theory that fits a strategy/playstyle that I’d like to play, but I haven’t gotten deep enough into UMvC3 to really see the errors in what I’m doing, so I need some evaluation. Right now the team’s looking like

Viper(BK)/Strider(Vajra)/Doom(Plasma)

Ideally I want my point character to be a character that controls the fight to my liking. Someone that forces the opponent into a certain play style to try and counter whatever it is I’m conditioning them to, and have the versatility to punish what I’m forcing them to do and flip the script immediately. Now I’m not that well versed in theory crafting for this game, but Viper seems like she’d fit that quite well with assists to cover more space than her Seismo’s already do. If there’s a character that fits what I’m looking for better though, please let me know.

I like Strider in the 2nd slot because he forces a more critical situation on the opponent than even the point does. If I have 2-3 meters at any given point in the match, I could always TAC Strider in to either gain meter or take away theirs and proceed to Ouroboros. Given the situation that my point character has died already, I feel Strider with the plasma beam assist can XF2 and either force the opponent to X-factor as well to try and keep up, or gain enough meter/do enough damage to put me in a position where I can Ouroboros the XF3, or keep me safe enough to where I don’t need to worry about getting completely derp’d with a XF3 comeback(unless I make a huge mistake… then again. Striders health is mad low… this could happen regardless just from chip or something) From what I can tell, Striders mix-up and reset game is absolutely dumb, so he seems like he’d be the best character to do this. Then again I might be overrating Ouroboros, as I’m hoping it can pin down someone in X-factor, once again let me know if I’m wrong about this.

Hopefully I’ve forced the X-factor if it comes down to Doom. I feel without X-factor involved Doom can hold down a 1v1 and in some cases even a 1v2 fairly well. For the time I’ve been playing UMvC3, this is the only character that’s really locked into this spot, but if there’s a character that just completely outclasses Doom here for not only utility, but anchoring as well let me know. I don’t plan on playing the conventional “Save X-factor for last and make a huge comeback” kind of play, I feel that’s not really the optimal way to use X-factor(Unless you’re abusing Wesker, Phoenix, and from what I’ve been reading/seeing Felicia), especially if you can seal the game early by making that clutch kill when you can or just completely wreck an entire team before it gets to that point.

So yeah, my bad about the wall of text, but I really want to get a team down, and it’s better to get other perspectives.

This is a pretty good team, but I would use Chris’ Machine gun assist. It covers the ground well and comes out fairly quick. It’s also hard to see if you end up using him as an assist with Strider. Try to zone/chip as much as you can with Chris and use him as a battery to build meter for your Strider Anchor. I would actually put Chris on point and work on Combos that TAC/DHC into Frank for faster level-ups.

I’ve played Hulk and Strider, no Dorm though. If you’re set on Hulk / Strider / X , I would consider putting Doom on anchor. Him and Strider work great together and it would provide a beam assist for hulk. Remember if you catch someone in the air with Strider Vajra assist its a hard knock down so if you have Hulk on point you’ll be able to go into his Gamma Wave super

Right now I’m running with Nova (Rush)/Doom (Beam)/Strider (Kick) and its doing pretty well. Both assist help Nova and Strider as well, but I feel like Doom isn’t getting as much out of the team as they are. Thoughts?

Running Zero(G), Dr. Strange(Bolts), Strider (Vajra)

Seems like a solid team. Atm i’m using Dr. Strange’s impact palm to get Strider in safely. (You can literally just raw tag Strider in and his launch has enough reach to combo.) However a DHC would be really nice. :confused:

If anyone has anything good to share it’d be great. Seems like a lot of people are using Zero and Strider. XD
I read some stuff from a few pages back but any cool stuff would be useful.

Does anyone know a good point character from Strider/Doom dont recommended besides wesker. I thinking of Zero since I have been using him since Vanilla.

Strider and RR together?? They both have VERY low health. Keep that in mind!

Sentinel, Doom and Dr Strange seem like good choices. Horizontal beam assists are great for Strider. Keep that in mind.

Hey guys. I’ve recently begun playing Strider and I’m lovin the character. I think I want to play him on point but with a few stipulations: a) I want to have a middle character who can take advantage of the heavy gram tag tech and b) I want to run Vergil (rapid slash) anchor. I need a specific character in in that middle spot that also can work well with Rapid Slash by himself. Here are my thoughts:

Rocket Raccoon: Probably my top contender for the spot right now. Two great assists in Log and Spitfire Twice. (I would probably go with Spitfire Twice to go better with Strider’s mixup; allowing lock down for short hop tricks) He could use Rapid Slash for teleport mixups and can convert off of Strider Vajra pretty easily. DHC into from Gatling Gun super into Spiral Swords will most likely work well since it creates a float (spinning state?) before the final shot hits similar to Dante’s Million Dollars. The pretty obvious downside to picking RR is the lack of health. Though the team synergy is good, It makes my whole team extremely fragile.

Deadpool: Rapid Slash aids Deadpool’s zoning as well as giving him a decent assist for teleport mixups and he’s able to convert off of Vajra assist. Quick work assist can provide some interesting unblockable reset setup potential with meaty tiger for Strider. DHCs to and from Deadpool don’t seem like anything special however and he’ll probably struggle for damage if and when Strider gets waxed on point.

Spencer: This guy is a beast and although I havent tested anything I would imagine that he gets a ton of damage off of his heavy tag gram ender from Armor Piercer into Bionic Maneuvers into whatever else is left to squeeze out. The up grapple assist could be fun to use with some Strider shenanigans. The real problem I see here is that when Strider dies Spencer/Vergil duo is pretty suspect. Getting in and staying in will probably be a serious issue. Yipes uses it pretty effectively but it seems like his hawkeye is the go to assist of choice when pressuring with Spencer.

Honorable mentions go to Hawkeye, Cap, Wolverine, and Zero to filling the spot. These would be a pretty good fit too imo but I’m just not interested in playing the characters too much. However, if someone knows some good shit that I don’t, I’m more than willing to compromise.

i say ryu chris as a point and hiryu as a anchor whit vajra is almost godlike i use frank cart assist and it helps alot chris moving in´ so my definitive answer is Ryu

Good point characters i like to use for him is dante,deadpool,felicia,tron and thor. They capitalize off his vajra assist and great sysnergy with all his assist

This close to my team of Strider(vajra)/Thor(mighty spark)/RR(log trap). I use Thor to pick up the damage that strider lacks and his mighty spark assist for mix ups. RR job is to help me get in which also helps out thor. Once they start getting scared jumping cuz of the log trap i catch them with thor command grab. use striders wall cling and wall exchange in conjunction with the log trap to get a happy birth day. super skrull is too good with this team once they get scared of the log trap i catch them with his long range cmmd grab. one they get hit with the vajra skrull can otg, if they block or push block vajra get them with cmmd grab, there synergy is so good its almost cheating.

I want to see that team in action, mozart. It sounds really interesting. RR anchor is good, but hella flimsy. Hope you don’t get mixed up coming in. And I hate that Thor’s normals are pretty bad, but then again, I don’t know how to use him :stuck_out_tongue:

strider is my favorite of the new characters so i really want a strider team. preferably, i want strider as a anchor. so what character and position on team should i have with doom.

Doom would be a be great in the second position, 1. because you can use striders vajra assist for the hard knock down it causes and doom can capitalize on that since he self OTGs. 2 the vajra can help doom prevent rivals from jumping in on him while hes zoining. 3. doom can use his TAC combo in second position for more damage after your point man TACs up. 3. they can switch spots so strider can get in on a zoning opponent with a quick beam or hidden missile teleport mix-up then TAC into doom to put him back in and bring them in to the corner with his TAC combo for big damage which usually leads to a KO of that character.

if you want to play strider and use tags, there is no better choice than zero. Not only can you tag into 1 bar death combos, zero provides a projectile for strider’s teleport game all though its not that good and zero in the 2nd slot also has some good things about him. Zero provides a safe DHC for strider, much safer than other characters who tag. Not only that but if you dhc-ed cleanly from animals as they pinned the opponent, zero can potentially gain an unblockable into his loop. Extremely beneficial. I think the most important part about zero for strider is that in the 2nd slot allows a very solid character that has very few bad matcups. No other character you could hope to put in the 2 slot could hope to have that much synergy for strider AND have that ability to have very good matchups.

You have to remember that your 2nd character has to fill multiple roles, not only tagging. Otherwise your team chemistry is going to fuck you in the long run.

right now, strider\zero combination has the best shot to be the best strider team for all the reasons I listed above and then some. You just have to find a good middle ground for the 3rd character that aids team chemistry and works across the board
