lol you got tagged as off topic, yet you were completely on topic this time.
I don’t know how I don’t get mentioned. I trolled this site hard for years, destroying pretty much everyone that ever even tried to step up. It was always funniest crushing the other allegedly “intelligent” and “skilled” people. They’d always start erasing their posts and then begging me to erase mine after I finished crushing them. I’m actually a nice guy so I’d just accept the surrender and do so. I also figured there was a sort of unspoken rule by the mods that I’d be given a bit under a day to keep posts up before they’d get erased for breaking the rules, since theoretically trolling wasn’t allowed. It happened too often not to be intentional, plus I usually knew the mods on here anyway, at least as acquaintances online.
Some revelations that are funny to me but only to you if you’ve been there from the start. I was first asked to join this site to troll the Guilty Gear players by a friend of mine at undergrad, he might still be on here but he went by caliagent#3 on this site I believe. So I trolled them, and it was funny.
I then decided I’d troll the KOF players, even though I actively played the game at the time and still like it. Tourney players read my stuff and would tell me they read it even though they hated SRK and thought all of you are idiots. One posted in that KOF thread and was greatly amused that he could change the mob mentality of SRK so easily with just one post, because you are all dick riders.
Serp’s Attorney was actually two different guys. The guy that came up with it, and also bugged me to troll a bunch of other people to get the surrender victory over them, was Ryu1999. I have no idea what happened to him. Another Serp’s Attorney was actually Ultradavid. I vaguely know what happened to him, apparently he is still around and does streams or something.
I can’t even remember all the trolling. But I was always amazed that I’d still get reactions. I tried to “get in character” as much as I could, sometimes I’d even research the troll topics and carefully craft the sequences I’d expect to happen. Obviously I had less and less time to do this the older I got, so I could do this less and less. I think eventually I just got sloppy. I tried to mix just enough truth in place to really screw with people’s heads. I think it worked a lot of the time.
Why am I writing this now? Well, part of it is that I figure with all the trolling I did, I might as well be pretty trolly on this too. The other part is I genuinely want to see if anyone remember some of this stuff, because I do think it was pretty entertaining. A part of me wonders how far I could have taken some of that stuff in today’s era. Not necessarily on SRK, but on sites like tumblr or reddit or whatever else the kiddies are doing these days that gets so much more exposure than we had back in the day, when really the internet was still very much a niche area, and SRK was a very small subsection of that. Another, bigger part of me is glad that we were so small, because we got to keep our anonymity and the most provocative stuff can fade away into obscurity. I mean if we wrote a lot of the stuff we were writing back then the NSA would flag it and we’d get an FBI team at our front doors the next morning. It’s probably better that we did this stuff in obscurity.
There were some other fun trolls back in the day. cisco is indeed one! I actually loved his stuff because he really went for his gimmick. SONY was a great one. colguile who posted here was another troll! Actually the very first troll I ever met, as he flamed the shit out of me when I innocently posted before creating my troll persona. Mummy-B actually jumped in with the assist and roasted colguile, and from observing B’s sick ability and colguile’s hilarious trolling, at the behest of caliagent, I pretty much crafted my online alter ego, and then practiced my craft.
I liked Havoc too I think. I believe he was this gay guy (as in homosexual male, back then I guess it wasn’t as accepted as now) that would love to flame people. His flames were awesome, he’d just really push people’s buttons, but he’d take advantage of the most childish people, and usually homophobic people. Personally I never cared about that, even back then, so I never actually really got into a flamewar with the guy. Zulu was another guy that would mess around with that sometimes but he was a lot nicer about it, you had to be a real jerk to get him to flame you (and there were).
I thought that one guy that slept around like crazy and believed in polyamorous relationships was legit, but I guess people thought he was a troll. Maybe that was Johnny Damon.
Anybody remember Kang? Lord Krang? Kim Jong Il? kcjx? Haha it’s one guy but I think he had multiple transformations. I really would like to know what happened to that guy. I very much enjoyed messing with him. At that age I felt justified to bully around people that were bullies themselves, and I had hoped to really break him one day. Alas, I do not think I ever was able to do so, for his self confidence was at such shit levels there was nothing for me to break. I can’t break a spirit when a person does not have it…
Dasrik liked to troll people as well, but I really don’t think he should have in some instances. We would talk on AIM as he’d push people’s buttons. He’d carry on a normal conversation while typing up posts designed to make people irrational. And he’d succeed at it. He’s obviously the second guy of the people I’m mentioning above that passed away too soon. I haven’t been around as much, have the memories faded? We used to do yearly threads in remembrance of these two, but with our numbers dwindling from back then, do enough even remember?
I always wondered what happened to Septimus Prime, or just Sep as we all called him…I think. His AIM was Cool4freereturns or something like that. I got a message from him once that Mr. Wizard told him his services were no longer required, and then he just seemingly disappeared. He was a huge fan of Sony and worked for Konami.
Whatever happened to Azrael? I think I saw Koop post here. Is Akuma-chan around at all? I wonder if Wiz actually reads this site at all anymore, he used to sometimes I remember.
I’m sure there are more guys that made SRK truly enjoyable back in the day. I bet I’ll post them up as I remember them.
And now I will list the one troll I just never liked at all. I always hated rsigley. I just could never be sure he wasn’t serious. Some of it was clearly trolling, but then others…you just don’t know. He didn’t seem to troll for the entertainment value of it, he seemed to troll for darker, more sinister reasons. Just seemed like a genuinely not nice guy. I heard about him at some ECC tourney I went to way back, I guess he had a decent showing because people were talking about him, but I think even then they mentioned him being weird. I used to talk to him on AIM and he was normal at times, but then other times he’d just randomly go off the deep end, and I was just glad I didn’t know the guy in person. If it was humor it was the Jeff Green style (I think that’s his name, the guy that did really weird things, usually disgusting stuff). I only laughed one time at sigley’s trolling, and that was when he did some drawings in MS Paint or something describing his take on a thread, it included frustrated scribbles to show rage of some sort. Is he gone? He stalks me so I’m pretty sure by now he would have responded to me if he was still here. I can’t imagine his trolling being allowed by the rules, and I can’t imagine him ever backing off.
