(12/7) CLIMB THOSE RANKS! AI Street Fighter IV Tournament Results

lol, it’s all good ryan. i didn’t take it personally or anything. i mean, that’s just how sanchez is, really. he can get real hyped up at times and tends to yell a whole lot, and i can definitely see how some people might take it the wrong way (he’s actually pissed off eric on one occassion), but it wouldn’t really be sanchez without all the yelling. me and him have played before, and i think the two of us get along pretty well. he’s a nice guy at heart. he’s given me paul and eric tips before on how to improve our game, so i think he does his part in helping the community grow too.

the only thing i’m angry about is that i didn’t win my match against him, even after showing him up that second round. :stuck_out_tongue:

ferreals… don’t take the trash talking personally… it’s all in good fun… just keep hangin out with everyone so you get more comfortable and make more friends… then you’ll be the one in on the trash talking…

LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!

this is what i’m talking about. someone is trying to make a point about something and instead of responding in a serious manner they say some stupid shit without addressing the topic or having any kind of response towards it.

we need more posts like this.

dude i am friends with everybody and i do talk with everyone. regardless of my status within the community it’s still too much. you guys are allowing such ridiculous behavior.

okay so here next tourney the next person i play before the match i’m just going to go up to him and say “i’m going to fuck you up faggot.” then throughout the match i’ll be yell random obscenities like "tiger fuckyouup"and after i win i’m going to go up in his face and call him a bitch and walk away while screaming “GET HYPE!!!” But it’s going to be all good because we all know each other and we know that i was just joking

you’re telling me to lighten up. tell all the guys yelling at the top of their lungs because they lose to do the same as well.

how is it stupid shit your just mad i broke down your post in two words.
sf4 needs the hype and trash talk. this isnt some boring ass golf game if our friend is winning we’re gonna cheer him on. if we’re wrecking during a match why would we not boast about it. we work hard to get where we are, are we supposed to just play deadface and nod during a win. if this was just casuals and sanchez was threatening somebody i’d completely agree but its not its a tournament. people are playing to win and say we are cheering our friend on and he loses nay gets fucking scraped. people wanna know who that guy that beat him is. i mean did you really know of SHOO,bustabust,or tatsu before the ai ranbats? they played and took the pressure and trashtalk and shined through. we’re all nice and friendly ppl but during a match its a completely different atmosphere your my enemy and im gonna beat you. period. outside of the match lets go drink and eat taco boss we’re fucking chums
do you know how much shit i talk to shoo / tony when we play even though we’re best friends.

people are trying to make this game fun and exciting to watch like marvel. not the quiet boring mess that 3S ended up being.

edit:yea man i like to call all my opponents faggotniggers during a match

ugh why am i defending this game it sucks

Well, you’ve got your own opinion, but thats not how most people will see it. If you’re out to piss people off prove your point by providing your own extreme, then by all means, good luck. but i dont think we’re like that at all. Do people not shake hands after a match?

Our community is not perfect, but it’s our own and i’m proud of it, and you should be too. The only thing that really pisses me off are the online SRK trolls, that talk shit on our game and our arcades, and NEVER bother to show up at any events.

need to get revenge on luka. samoa power proved too much for me. good shit everybody

about the hypeness, i just think it’s funny and way more entertaining than a bunch of dudes just sitting there with blank stares on their faces waiting 4 hours to play their next match. i think people should yell more actually. if i were the type i would yell “HOW MY TIGER TASTE” all fucking day but I’m not, so yeah

Dragon/ ryan- you just gotta show them up with your play. Sanchez yelled “You only good at Street fighter 4!!!” in the 3s tourney and I took him out. After yelling something again while playing me at 4 I killed him again…

everyone will always take sides and there will always be those hype makers but in the end its how you play…

Look at Paul, by wining he proves its not a big deal. He SHOULD have been effected the most by the scene.

Sanchez- I still haven’t forgot that 3rd strike AI team tourney years ago… im sure you remember… hopefully. I :lovin: u btw

lets all have a beerstation makeup party

awwwwwwwwwww

yea… this was my first real tourney… and i gotta admit… the shit talking was amazing! it’s all mind fucks dude… you play to win… after all the bullshit… we’re all friends… i’ve met some cool dudes… all of them willing to train you… and other pros that i have yet to meet… you just have to have a good mind set… cause if you take it personally… you already lost the psychological game…

Mark - Gief/Ken
Jack - Ryu
Kryojenix - Viper
Dann - Balrog

is beerstation THAT good? i heard they don’t even have a great selection of beers…

i mean it’s the closest… i guess… but…

whatever gets you drunk!

OIOIOI!

Well put.

Who were you in the tournament?

the stinky tofu is really good ask moval mike about it

Dann - Balrog

I was the one with the red mid nikes, faux hawk, black sweater and purple all over print tee…

NIGGA I WAS ALL HYPE BEASTED UP…

just cause we need to bring that hype to AI…

where you the one in red on the computer…

NIGGA I SAID IT WAS A TUESDAY!

I played against Dae, went close against his chun… didn’t pull enough ultras…

Lost to lovepig’s abel technology… i was playing so bad after my first loss… i was playing too aggressive and was impatient… kept dying to wake up grabs and supers… ohh well…

Forgot to do shout outs as well:

Sanchez: As well always its fun playing and talking to you whenever I’m there, too fuckin nice!

Bebop: Always a pleasure hanging with you my friend

Shoo: Best man I know so far who knows how to run a tournament and *hugs

Moval: Your Blanka is too damn good!

Lovepig: Its all part of the plan, but there is no plan!

Gootecks: Its fun watching your Balrog, gets so beastly!

Luka: You are my homie, with much love!

Nothingman: Q vs Q was too good!

Ed Ma: Still the best player I know so far in st4

BustaBust: Good Shit

To all the Denjin and FFA players, good shit, just good shit :D. If I forgot anyone I’m sorry, you know I <3 you all…maybe…

Hype is good. And I never said it wasn’t entertaining or funny. There’s a difference between hype and taunting. Can you guys not see that? Tiger Woods gets hyped when he plays golf when he makes a putt from 1000ft away to make birdie he does his fist pump. that’s fine, that’s getting hype. you dont see him going to another golfer and being bitch beat that mother fucker.

in football when you sack the QB you dont see players run up to the dude who got laid out and say yeah nigga you got fucking dropped. b/c aside from the fact that he’d be slapped with an unsportsman-like conduct penalty. it’s just bad taste.

Get fucking hype that’s fine. but do you guys see the fucking difference? i’ve made several. you guys can’t say you wouldn’t be mad if some random dude absolutely no one knows shows up at a tourney beasts on a well known member of the community and starts talking shit directly at him. saying shit like “yeah bitch how does being ass raped feel?!”

i talk shit to the people i know, because yes it’s all in good fun. but i’m not going to call out some random dude and talk shit to him just because. it’s fucking stupid, are we all still in high school?

Oh and for the last time b/c people seem to miss this:

HYPE DOES NOT MEAN THE SAME THING AS TAUNTING!

fucking ryan…haha man it’s been like this since back in the days…and don’t expect it to change. just toughen up on the mental side.

gootecks: 0-3 at all of the tourneys i’ve entered. seems like you’re wall that stops me from advancing. god damn those blanka notes. one of these days!

ggs to everyone. nice turn out too! see you guys at denjin.

I guess I’ll put my 2 cents in.

Dragonite has a point. At this point, a lot of the yelling and screaming and shit is just derivative. People do it not because there’s a purpose to it, but because they feel like they have to or that they’re expected to. Be honest, at least 80% of the antics or the shit talk or the act that people bring isn’t funny, interesting or even relevant. It doesn’t get people into the game any more or less. It doesn’t take people out of their games or affect anything. It’s just noise at this point.

I mean, you can’t really make rules or whatever to regulate it. People will do what they want and as long as the majority is OK with it, then that’s their business. But I completely agree that if you’re going to do that, you should only do that to your friends and/or people you know are OK with it. Doing that to outsiders or people who aren’t really into that whole thing isn’t just silly, it’s hurtful. And don’t tell me that all of the “hype” or whatever we’re going to call it was confined to just matches among people who are friends with each other. Dragonite is right, if you were doing that to an outsider or someone who doesn’t normally come to tournaments, how would they take that? If that was you in your first tournament, how would you react? I’ve been around for awhile since I was 16 getting rides to Alpha 2 tournaments. If someone had treated me like that when I was just getting into it, I wouldn’t have stuck around. That wouldn’t be a group or a community that I would have wanted to be a part of. I’ve been on both sides of the game.
I don’t want to pull rank or anything, but I’ve probably won more fighting game tournaments than most of you have showed up to. I’ve been someone who was expected to win every time I showed up. I’ve been someone who just played for fun and to see if they could do better this time than they did last time. And I’ve been someone who just showed up to donate to the pot, have some fun and see if I could win a couple matches. Regardless of where you are on the player totem pole, being treated abusively sucks, but it especially sucks if you aren’t as good. Imagine showing up just to play and have fun and some jerk is screaming in your face about how you don’t have a chance and you aren’t shit. Like I said, if someone would have done that to me when I was just showing up to play Alpha 2 with my brother and seeing if I could win a game against the big boys, I wouldn’t have stuck around. Why would anyone want to be a part of that?

Part of being a good winner in anything, whether it’s games or sports or whatever is acting like you’ve been there before and being respectful to other people, especially people who are new. In the end there’s no point to making rules regulating behavior or anything. Ultimately it’s everyone’s individual prerogative as to how they want to conduct themselves, but I really urge everyone to conduct themselves with class, especially to people who aren’t as good or people who are new. Most of the people who are the loudest, you guys are the new top players so it’s your responsibility to make the scene as accommodating and friendly as it has been in the past.

In short: Come on guys, don’t be dicks, especially to new guys.

What a great tournament! What an awesome turnout, wow, thanks to everyone for showing to what I thought was gonna just be some random 20 man tournament. I think though we might have to either cap it at 32 next time or if we get this many next time just have 1 game rounds in winners as well for a bit until AI gets a second machine. Here’s hoping for that… :wgrin:

I played Bison the whole tournament and lost to Busta and Eric. I also lost to an AI chair that almost broke my damn finger. Good games to all, I need to step up my game more because everyone else has. :lovin:

Shoutouts to:

Ken - Again for letting us pack into that tiny arcade.

Scott/Shoo - For recording and running the tournaments.

Paul - For finally repping a great Sagat. You played him great and really I think are the first person to show how a good Sagat can be played in SF4. People will have experience now playing against one. Congrats! Go buy your family something. And also, keep abusing that tiger knee until people stop you, hahahahaha! You know I know how to stop them though. :wgrin:

Eric/Busta - For beating me. Screw you guys. Hehe.

Bebop - You played really well in a lot of matches. I really like watching them.

Ron - I’m gonna learn Balrog now. But you were the first and I will copy you until I run out of things to copy. :lovin:

Gootecks - You played great dude, don’t feel bad. Need to learn how to counter tiger knees and that’ll just come with some play time. You did really well considering you almost have no Sagat practice really. I think the only problem was you had no answer for the tiger knees but we’ll figure that out.

Gootecks and 3S - For making me play the stupid game and messing me up so that I played SF4 like 3S for a bit. :arazz:

Combofiend - Sorry for letting you down. Come out to the next tournament, we all miss you.

Viscant - Go team SD. I’m still part of it. :wgrin:

Random people who came - Hope you had a good time.

Great games all, fun tournament! We almost started on time!

EDIT: I didn’t really read the posts yet but I just saw some stuff about the shouting. Viscant is right, be a dick to the people you know cause it’s fun. Don’t be a dick to the non regulars who you don’t know because we want them to come back and plus it’s just rude. Also if you are a dick to me, I’ll just beat your ass in the game so I don’t care one way or the other. And also, everyone be a dick to Sanchez. I think he enjoys the attention.
