That’s the konami code. The one code that was specifically de-confirmed.

…Were there any codes available in SF1?
I mean it’s hard to get more old school than that (trying to limit myself to fighters, using something completely unrelated to SG would just be mean).
I don’t think SF1 codes would be possible since they involved inputting text somewhere on the screen. I’m beginning to think that it isn’t fighting game related. I’ve played pretty much every fighting game that’s come out since SF1 and all of the codes I can think of from those are either impossible to input the same way or just don’t work. Just how old is old school? Maybe we should be thinking more recent than “first fighting games in history” or something.
I can’t find any codes for sf 1 but I thought maybe frogger cheats would be good since it was konamis first machine but there are none for frogger either
Watch, by old school he means Commodore 64.
Quick, somebody ask Mike how old he was when the game being referenced by the code came out
Actually, I just came up with a random theory. Maybe the code involves the numbers on the team select boxes. Maybe the reason it’s stumping everyone is because it requires either two people or a second controller to do. One player inputs one half of the code using their team number + characters and the second player completes it?
Edit: Maybe it involves a certain combination of character emblems, similar to kombat codes?
Did anyone try anything similar to how you picked the Old versions of Characters in ST?
Capcom will be selling the code to unlock the 10th color in skullgirls? Is this very old-school “code” where we have to call in the skullgirls tips hotline and listen on the phone for 2 minutes at 5.99 a minute to hear what the code is? Let’s try calling reverge and asking.
no… I tried every one on cerebella and it didn’t do a thing. I wish we just knew where to enter it, I think it’s weird that as soon as you hit start the game saves as it’s first action, that makes me think it’s something to do with the press start screen
Hmm, what about the stuff that unlocked Shadow Lady, Red Venom, Orange Hulk, etc in MvC1? Moving around the character select screen in a certain way to get different colors… might be worth a look.
Edit: Dammit.
Mike said on a Facebook reply that it is not the MvC1/SF character unlock method.
XYZZY is old school enough, but I have no idea how that would translate since there’s no Z button, unless you map X, Y, Z to LP, MP, HP.
Ha, i found the code by accident. I will keep it to myself for a while and play with my brand new palette online for bragging rights.
Nice shoutout to the competition !
Spoiler - Took a pic with my digicam

Before anybody flips out neither of those are the 10th color palette.

My brilliance knows no bounds.
It is surpassed only by my surprising amounts of mercy for those too lazy to fact check.
I try looking into classic Nintendo games for codes but most of their stuff is passwords. Anyone try the code to unlock Smoke from vanilla MK3?
Haha. That’s pretty godlike.
