Is this thread still alive?

Potter what are your thoughts on sent/cable/cyke?
advantages and disadvantages over traditional scrub?
why play cyke over capcom?

thanks and GOOD FKN THREAD

imo (very uneducated imo) cyclops gives cable an easier time with magneto.

and is a very good AHVB set up too

:expressionless:

Potter come back!

he probably busy studying for finals or finishing term papers

I’ll tackle this question…

The “Summers family” combination has an advantage over traditional scrub in that regardless of any order Sent/Cable or Cable/Sent, “Summers family” is viable.

Scrub has a huge vulnerability to commando snap ins when starting sentinel first, leaving your team order as commando/cable/sentinel without a reliable escape DHC (unlike santhrax where you can just DHC to hailstorm) You simply cannot stay out as commando and hope to do anything.

For summers however, if you started sentinel but got snapped you can actually play a pretty solid game with cyclops on point… it’s better than commando point in every way. If you need meter you can easily build it… if you need to switch out to cable you can actually set it up a lot easier and at the very worst you can try countering into sentinel or just burning 3 meters to get to sentinel.

As for playing cable on point there’s two differences that are important between commando and cyclops as assists:

  1. Commando is significantly better at covering the jump range and SJ range. Significantly better. Commando comes out relatively SLOWLY
  2. Cyclops is significantly better at covering the triangle jump range and the ground range, particularly directly in front of Cable. Cyclops comes out much FASTER

There’s a few other factors like what kind of assists they snuff but those are the two most important points.

Unless the opponent is making a bee line toward Cable, Cyclops as an assist has to absolutely be called as late as possible. Case in point… Magneto dashes toward Cable, super jumps straight up, and then air dashes forward. Cyclops had been called, but splices in the wrong direction. Magneto avoids him with the SJ and air dash forward, and then comes down on Cable very freely.

If Cable had commando instead as an assist, even if called early, because of the delay that commando has in coming out he might actually turn around and hit magnus out of the air.

The other reason why cyclops has to be called as late as possible is b/c the way he hits the opponent. Two hits lower to the ground and a third up top. You want the two hits to connect with the third following to give reliable hit confirm.

Hope this helps, I got more to say about this if you want.

Im going to learn Marvel next month (pitiful I know) and I needa bit of help…

I know for a FACT that I want to play SENTINAL & STORM . .but I need a 3rd assist…any ideas?

I like Psylocke and Spiral…are they good to pair the previous two with?

Thanos

But I would say, Cyclops, Doom if you want to be weird, Mag, I don’t know, I’m not really good at giving advice for MvC2, but thats who I say you COULD use. But Cyke and Mag are the smarter choices out of the three I gave really. I’m still on that scrub status, but I’m pretty decent after these few years of me playing.

Cyclops is a better ‘skill’ assist. CapCom is way easier to start with. It’s parallel to Sent-A vs Sent-Y to me.

Storm/Sent/Psylocke can be really effective.

Thanks.

better “skill” assist? maybe. but hands down sent/commando is wayyyyy stronger.

I have noticed that Sentinel/Cyclops is particularly effective against Sentinel/Commando when sent/cykes has cornered the other duo, but aside from that sentinel/commando is too buff in SJ range

Quoted for truth. If you watch a lot of JWong videos, this is the situation he puts himself into when he starts utterly killing the opposition.

im planning to make a chun-li team, but I also want to include good characters or at least with good assists. I was thinking of…

Chun-b/Ironman-b/tron-y
Chun-b/Storm-a/sent-a or y
Chun-b/ Tron-y/Storm-a
Chun-b/Ironman-b/Storm-a

what do you think? which will be more effective?

Chun- b/Sent-y/Capcom-b
Chun-b/Sent-y/Tron-y
Chun-b/Storm-a/Tron-y <-Team Vegita-X you are just replacing one psycho bitch for another haha.

chun/storm/psy

Coming from a Strider/Doom player, I have a harder time against that team rather than fighting Sent/Cable/CapCom. Cyclops seems to beat out Doom at times whereas, Doom beats out CapCom cleanly.

any chance for playing team with storm/cable/3rd?
and which should be the 3rd assist (i prefer not to make it mag or sent)
